The Funchal may be small & "vintage" but she attracts great affection in all her passengers. This cruise to the fjords & north cape was our first cruise. It was superb in every way. The ship was immaculate, the food, out of this world! Nothing was too much trouble for the superb staff.

The entertainment played to packed houses every night & was received with great acclaim. In short this was probably the best holiday we have had in 60 years.

My wife and I have just returned from the Fjordland cruise to Norway, which incidentally was our first ever cruise, and found the whole experience on board Funchal to be absolutely superlative in every way: the ship, the crew, the food, the excursions. I can highly recommend this ship to anyone !

Everything was geing cleaned all the time. Wandering around the ship in the small hours you could find someone cleaning something !

The food was out of this world and left nothing to be desired as was the service

Thw whole crew could not be more friendly or helpful from the top right down to the guys who helped you on and off the tenders.

Entertainment was first rate with something to suit all tastes.

My wife and I are currently saving up for our next trip which will be on the Funchal and no other !

We travelled on the line voyage from Fremantle Australia to Harwich UK in March 08, We had a wonderful time and made many new friends,We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness , service and quality of food, considering this was a 37 night cruise the on board entertainers did a wonderful job in providing us with a variety of shows without actually repeating any.For such a long cruise it is inevitable that not everybody will be completly satisfied and we did hear of some complaintsbut for us it was everything we expected a classic ship with classic lines and good old fashioned service at a very reasonable price. We hope to take another trip during the 2008/9 Australian season and hopefully if it stays around long enough we would like to due the line voyage from the UK to Australia some time in the future

We took our 1st cruise on the Funchal from Fremantle to Albany. Due to very bad weather, the captain decided that for the comfort and safety of the passengers, we would pull into Geographe Bay for a few days and not continue down the coast. We were slightly disappointed at first but the crew certainly made up for it. The whole cruise was fantastic. The staff, the cabins, the entertainment. We had a fantastic time. We are in our early forties, my children were 10 and 8. They had a ball. The kids program was great and they were made to feel welcome by crew, staff and other passengers. Could not fault nothing about the cruise other than the pool is a little to small but the kids loved it anyway. Have booked our 2nd cruise on the Funchal and we leave in a few days. Cant wait. Hope to see our friendly waiter Andre and Cruise Director Steve again.

My group and I went on the Funchall and unfortunately did not enjoy the experience very much. It was not the fault of the cruise line entirely but bad weather did not enable us to visit Monkey Mia as planned. Elderly relatives found it too hard to get around the ship due to choppy seas. The food and service on board was not to be faulted but when we decided to leave the ship at Geraldton and catch a bus home we were treated with some disdain. I feel there should be some prior warning to passengers that the destination they had hoped to see may not be possible due to unforseen circumstances .

This was our third trip with travelscope but our first time on the Funchal. The Funchal is a very small ship but this just adds to it intimacy. We sailed on her around the baltics and had a fantastic time.

The cabin stewards and housekeeping staff were always cleaning.

Ship food was good with quite a good variety on offer. The restaurant staff where good also.

All the staff including bar staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The entertaintment on board was actually very good for such a small ship with something going on from early morning right through to late into the evening.

I would recommend this ship for adults but would not consider taking children on board as there is not even a childrens section in the pool or any other factilites although they are welcome.

This ship really is classic cruising and it is a very friendly ship with brilliant staff.
