Rather a nice time.

Met an old friend and his wife not seen for a number of years and two old neighbours, one of whom have not seen for over 40 years but did recognize the wife. A rather old boat but had been refurbished recently. Very comfortable cabin but rather noisy as it was directly beneath the engine room outlet. Still did sleep well thanks to sleeping draught taken in the bar. Food not bad but mostly luke warm, don't know who Luke is but he should get his finger out. Last point about the food. I don't know who made the scones but they should have had directions from the person who made them on the discovery a couple of years ago. They were the best I have ever had and I used to have three or four at teatime and nothing else. Yum Yum. Finally I spent a long time trying to find out who was the sitter for the sculpture at the side of the swimming pool. Ninjinski or Nurerev came to mind but no-one could give me a answer. I read the book about the Marco Polo but saw nothing. Anyone can help please. Answers on a postcard. All in all a very enjoyable Cruise one of which the wife thoroughly enjoyed also myself even though I was not very well and lost two pounds coming back.

The itinerary was not to plan due to heavy winds in France so we did not get to Bergen as scheduled mucking my plans up in meeting friends there. However, I did manage a couple of hours with them, so no worries there. Probably will give it another go in a couple of years but will go in June or July if there is a trip.

Less rain I hope.

Never again!

Cruised from liverpool which was great as only 10 mins away from home. Disappointed as ship was quite scruffy. Happy with cabin more room than expected, at times there were not enough seats in lounges or buffet area. Some staff were very friendly but others not at all. Biggest disappointment was the catering side to it just wasn't up to standards. Very poor indeed. Buffet not enough choices and truthfully not very well cooked. The main dinning room had a few choices but then again chefs let it down. Most nights in buffet it was boiled potatoes and these at times were grey with black in them, the vegtables were tinned by the looks of it and tasteless. Usually on a cruise you can't wait to see what was on menu or go for a snack but actually found myself missing some meal times as I knew it was going to be same old rubbish. It totally spoiled our holiday. Another thing we bought the drinks package for £17 per day but when asked for bottle of water was told that was a separate package as was the coffee and hot chocolate which was unbelievable.

I must admit we found the alcoholic drinks very reasonably priced we would have been better off not having a package.

All in all I could never recommend this ship and it is one to be avoided, sorry.

Not what I had expected - disappointing

We booked 2 years ago for the Eclipse, having cruised previously and were very disappointed in the standard of the cabins (old linen, pillows etc). The schedule was changed at the last minute to we had only 1 day in Reykjavik and another day at sea which as the ship was full and the weather not good, made for cozy days!!

The food was adequate but nothing special and the Bistro was a fight to get a table. The entertainment was OK but could have done without the magician.

We wouldn't go anywhere with them again.

First cruise and what a splendid experience

Just returned from a Baltic cruise, a first cruise for both myself and husband and we were not disappointed. The staff were so friendly and the ship was kept spotless, not an easy task with 800 passengers. The excursions were fabulous culminating with the highlight of St Petersburg. Already looking for our next ocean cruise, hopefully on the Marco Polo.

Well done to Cruise and Maritime you have two converts who have spent many decades resisting a cruise. Thank you to all the crew on this super little ship.

We had a first class holiday, around the Norwegian fjords and Russia. The one excursion we took was to the nuclear ,ice breaking ship LENIN.it was awesome.it was also good value, as it included your visa. The Marco polo is an old type of cruise ship, it caters for a mainly older type of clientele. However we go for the destinations. The food is tip top, both in the restaurant and the self-service bistro. The entertainment was so so. A male opera type singer he was good and an old has been comic LENNY WINDSOR. Give him a swerve if you are unlucky enough to cross his path.

My wife and I were on the 50th Anniversary Pirate Radio Cruise sailing from Tilbury, 6th August on the Marco Polo, to Antwerp, Amsterdam and back to Tilbury. For the price we paid for 2 in a superior inside twin cabin I cannot fault, £199 each.

Embarkation and disembarkation were faultless. Although we were requested to vacate our cabin by 7.30am on the last day, full breakfast was available and a bar was open from 7.00am! We were off by 10.45 which was not a problem as the deck seating was available round the pool and a lot of passengers were having last chats with new friends made over the previous 3 days.

The entertainment was brilliant, Zoots Money, Georgie Fame, Eddie Floyd, The Rythem Kings and a great pianist, Kenny Clayton and singer Paul Ryan. Anyone familiar with these names will know what I am saying. Also on board were dj's Dave Cash, Johnny Walker and Emperor Rosko from the days of Radio Caroline and Radio London.

The crew were very good, probably a slightly different type of cruise to what they would normally expect.
All in all, a great three days.

Relaxing great value cruise

We had the good fortune to book a cruise on Marco Polo, what a wonderful time we had. The food was 5 star served up by excellent waiters. The ship was very clean, with lovely bars to suit all tastes for a small ship.
The entertainment was very good, two very good singers, Richard Sykes and Katerina. We just loved the ship with its wooden decks and old world charm, it made it feel very comforting. We would highly recommend this cruise for a lovely escape from the ordinary.

By today standards this is a small ship, 850 passengers, this is why we choose it after a couple of glowing reviews from people we know. We went to the Norwegian Fjords and the selection of ports was good.

Service at all levels was at a high and the food was as good as he has hoped for. Our cabin was a reasonable size and comfort. Entertainment was first class and good selection. If you want a Floating block of flats it is not for you, if you want a homely old lady in good condition with good staff this may be the one, a lot of people return.

The cruise destinations were the reason we chose the Marco Polo arriving on board we were very disappointed we had booked in 2012 and found that the simple request for late dining table for six had been changed to early dining which we did not want we had to accept table for four late dining which was not the way to start our trip, The food was a poor standard our local restaurants would soon go out of business if they served this standard, I was foolishly talked into a wine package only to discover that the choice was limited to wine that it was probable the least ordered normally and the wine waiter was not very good, Some of the staff were excellent but some seemed to think they were doing you a favour just being there all in all the ports of call were good and the best meal we had was a small fish and chip shop in Lerwick only five tables and all the customers were off the Marco Polo

Due to lack of space here I am unable to go into too much detail. Hated the whole trip, put into a very noisy cabin ,after twice requesting a quiet cabin,(because of medical condition) once upon booking and then after receiving cabin no.. We had upgraded twice to a superior outside twin. Do not accept cabin 272, or any cabin at the ends of the 1,2 and 3 lower decks, like sleeping next to an iron foundry, ear plugs, sleeping pills, nothing helped. Met with indifference by reception, 15 nights of noise and huge vibrations, ruined our trip, offered an insulting 15% off a future holiday booked with them. Cannot recommend this company to anyone. Told we had booked a Voyager Ticket when we complained, when we asked what this meant we were told that it meant that we more or less took "pot luck" wih our cabin allocation !!! Dreadful treatment
