Someone called? The Marhaba is in a different complex to the Salem and Royal Salem and a bit nearer the town. The Marhaba complex mainly consists of the Marhaba, Marhaba Beach and Marhaba Club, all of which I've stayed in at various times. Many years ago I was booked into the Marhaba but it was closed for a refurb, so for the great inconvenience of being moved a few yards to the Club I was upgraded to full board rather than half board. :rofl My favourite of this bunch is the Marhaba Beach but all of them are fine, or at least they were when I stayed there. Ignore the fact they are advertised as being near the Casino Caraibe, as this has been closed for many years as an actual casino and now seems to only put on the Changing Ladies show on a Wednesday, which is well worth a visit.

Are there refurbs going on at the hotel,my friend are due to go in 2 weeks and have just been moved to another hotel on the complex, im due out in August so interested to know the state of play there.

Can't help you there Chris. I know there was refurbishment going on at the Marhaba Salem/Royal Salem complex when I was out there recently. It can be confusing with all the Marhabas as there are several of them in Sousse, in two distinct complexes.

We were staying at the marhaba salem 18 september for a week but i had an e mail from thomsons a few days ago saying we would be staying at the garden salem and having meals at the Royal.I phoned them as could find no info on garden salem and it appears to be a long block next to marhaba salem and is still very close to beach and about a 100m from royal.I just was thinking we might end up walking miles for food and beach !Maybe your friends have come back and let you know about it?Can you post when you have been so we know what its like?Julie

hi were going to be staying at marhaba hotel in september, do you have to take your own beach towels or do they provide them at the hotel,

Hi you have to pay a deposit for sun beds and I think towels are included when I stayed in November 2010 I think it was 10 dinar deposit. Regarding alcohol Cettia Beer (Lager) is the best but its not strong and all the spirits were fine.
If you have a favourite spirit you can buy duty free as you cannot buy it out there.
I am going end August beginning September so I can answer any further queries anyone may have. I love it there and it is one of my favourite hotels. I am also going in November so it must be ok.

I would recommend taking a travel kettle if you like a morning tea or coffee and also a travel hair dryer but as this hotel has been recently refurbished they may include a hairdryer.

Hi,

Me and my family (2 children aged 5 & 4) will be staying at the Hotel Marhaba in August 2012 and i am getting a little concerned as i have read quite a few posts saying that the Hotel is closed for refurbishment?
I have emailed Thomas Cook who assure me that the refurbishment is indeed taking longer than they anticipated but that it should be finished by Summer 2012.
Is this correct?
I am having visions of that Carry On film :(

Also, we have a twin room booked but have seen people recommend a family room? Do you think this is possible to ask for a bigger room? will we be charged extra for this? and also, i hear they do not come with balconies? is this true? As having checked my confirmation it clearly states 'room with blacony/ or terrace'.

Also, we are going All Inclusive, as the Hotel is part of a complex are we allowed to use the facilities at all 4 Hotels?

Sorry for all the questions, just starting to worry a little as this is our first time in Tunisia, and only the second time on a plane for our children so i want to make sure they have a good time!

thanks

I've just got back from Sousse and quite a few hotels are closed for refurbishment, though it is believed some may not reopen. I have heard nothing about the Marhaba but if it is closed when you are due to visit I think it is almost certain you will be put in another hotel in the complex.

I was about to book a last minute stay here for early June when I came across this post. We stayed at the original Teg Marhaba a couple of years ago. We tend to go further afield now as we got fed up with the usual fighting over sunbeds in most places in the Med. However this was'nt a problem here as there was a huge pool area and you were sure of a sunbed. As my wife has just had a total knee replacement she is banned from flights of more than 4 hrs at present, hence our looking at the Tej. We'd go back like a shot as all we'll be doing is chiling out by the pool, and with the short flight times etc it ticks all the boxes. Does anyone who'se been there recently able to update us on the actual position re this hotel ?

Just back from the Tej Marhaba yesterday and it's open for business. The renovations taking place are to the indoor pool and whatnot around that area, it doesnt affect the hotel as such, and you would not be aware it's taking place.

We have booked to stay at the Marhaba Club in August.

I have read on other forums that the Marhaba Beach is closed for refurbishment.

Last year we were booked to stay at the Iberostar Diar El Andalous which was closed for refurbishment. I pestered Thomas Cook for a month before they finally admitted that the hotel was closed. We were offered an alternative hotel and got £20 per person compensation as TC had failed to notify us within 60 days of travelling.

I walked through the Marhaba Beach last Tues. and it was open as usual, and very busy by the looks of it, so I dont knowv where the closure story came from.
