saw this elsewhere. The weather turned really suddenly didn't it?

It's the effects of the wind and the Levant tide and not the temperature.

I agree with this article especially the comment at the end, because 2 years ago in March when I was there for my birthday, they were shifing sand from one end of the beach and building it up towards the Benalmadena end....4 trucks and a couple of diggers working all-day long trudging up and down the beach moving tons of sand.

Last month when I was there again for my birthday, the weather was very good and they were getting everything ready for Easter and the upcoming summer season, painting sunbeds, repairing the beach sombreras, putting new roofs on the chiringuitos, etc.
Some of the older locals who have lived in the village all their life, they know that there's always a possibility of a storm tide at this time of the year....they've seen it all before.

Oh well, in 2 years time, we hopefully won't be paying anymore for their madness & someone else will have to find the money . :wink

Omg :omg
The waves actually reach 4-5 meters high Sanji? Would love to have seen them, but not at the expense of the beach & prom of course.

Glynis.
7.76 metre high waves recorded in Malaga and a cruise ship unable to get into the port, because the pilot boat couldn't leave the port to escort the cruise ship in.

The beach in the photos is normally beautiful Nick 👍

Couldn,t say I was impressed by Malaga the beach looks a muddy colour even on the good photo and the airport is a nightmare .The town itself looked OK but prefer smaller traditional places.

Ah I'm talking about La Carihuela Nick not Malaga. 👍
