Hi all

Booked up today to go to Florida in 2 weeks time. The problem i have is not with the buying of tickets as this will be my 5th time but i have a dilema which im sure is one that some of you must have had in the past.

My son was 3 in October and as such we should really buy tickets for him to the parks but on asking around a couple of people have told me not to bother and say he isnt yet 3.

Has anyone done this as im now considering this as an option as i think £135 for disney tickets for him is a lot of money considering the fact there wont be loads of stuff he can go on.

Your thoughts and experiences please if you would be so kind. :?:

Its a decision only you can make - the rules are clear; that if the child is over 3 years old, then you should purchase a ticket.

If you are asking how likely it is you will get caught, then you probably know already, from previous trips, that this is fairly unlikely.

Would anything really bad happen if you were caught ? - probably not.

The question I'd ask is...are you comfortable breaking the rules/ telling lies etc. ?......You may be..you may not.........I'm sure you will get people that will argue either way, for and against, the idea.

Without wanting to sound as though I'm preaching (because luckily I've never had this dilema myself), I guess its whether you would see that this practice is dishonest, or not....but be assured that most people in your situation have thought about it..... and quite a few have done it .

I'm not convinced you could argue you shouldn't pay because there will be lots he can't go on....because I could say the same about my 6 year old girl.....and there is still plenty of entertainment for very young children - though, it may not be what you, as an adult, want to do !

I would say its really up to you, and your own moral philosophy.

Go for it if you can get away with it, they will get enough money out of you all day long, photos, food, souveniers, drinks etc etc etc!
And it will be the only year you can as you know they grow so quick. You will get away with it, the worst that can happen is they will ask you for proof of age, your not likely to have child ID on you on a day out are you? The Americans wont disappoint a child and turn them away from Micky!

Just go back (10/2/07 - 24/2/07) Always look out for special offers on the actual park web site. I managed to get a 7 day pass for Universal for only $85, this was for 7 consecutive days for both parks. There is no expiration date as the ticket is only activated on the first day of use.

Disney never seem to have any special offers on their site, except for free gift photo box etc. The cheapest tickets I could find were from Undercover Tourist.

If you need a cab try TRC Transportation, they have a 8 seater mini van and a town car (very plush) I found them to be very reliable and a good price. email cemirobcar@hotmail.com mobile (in Orlando) 321 624 5028.

The £ is very strong at the minute but watch out when using ATMs some will charge you to uses them (especialy in hotels) and then you'll probably find that your bank has given you a poor rate of exchange.

Thanks Lizc

Just to say we went and didnt spend out the £200 on the tickets for my boy and never once got asked and we didnt feel at all guilty about not having tickets for him as there wasnt that much he could actually go on as i knew anyway.

Anyone else in the same predicament just go for it!

By the way had a great time as always! 8)

Going to Orlando for the second time in october dont really want to do all the disney parks again only MGM and Blizzard Beach. How do I go about purchasing one day tickets for these parks. :?:

If you only want to do a couple of Disney Parks there is little to be saved by buying in advance over gate price ...however, if you want to do this for budgeting, or for present exchange rate advantage, purposes then try a site like Undercovertourist....they do 2 and 3 day tickets and have free postage to the UK - they are a reputable US website.

I don't think you can buy single waterpark entry in advance though ...but perhaps someone else knows different.

You might also want to consider this option.......if you intend to regularly go back to Orlando, as we do, but only want a few days of Disney each time, then buy any thing from a 5, 6 ,7 etc. to 10 day NON EXPIRY park ticket......this will cover you then for several more trips doing the same thing. If you buy 5 days you will make a good saving ....10 days and the savings are quite considerable ! Plus the exchange rate is good at the moment (use a Nationwide credit card to maximise your rate !)...plus you will inflation proof your tickets as gate prises rise every year.

Non exipry are just that - theynever expire no matter how long between visits.

Well, each to their own morals I suppose Footballswampie...but I don't think I'd come on here and boast about doing something dishonest myself (or encouraging others either) :?

I agree with Judy, you did it but generally speaking this site isn't one that encourages people to break laws or local rules, so why brag about it, and encourages others. The next person who trys might be asked to prove their childs age.

If there is not much in it I will maybe just wait and buy at the gate. Thanks for all advice though

Hi seasider

I found a site called onlineflorida.co.uk, it is part of Travel Republic, I am looking at Flexi passes and they appear to be cheaper with the 5 park flexi ticket costing £119 and the 4 park costing £97. Unsure how they compare to the Disney Tickets, but might be worth having a look.

Hi

your right, theme park tickets direct do seem to be the cheapest at the moment. I purchased their Seaworld/Busch Gardens 21 day pass and they were taking £45 per ticket.

Hi,

I've heard that Costco in the USA are doing 3 month passes for Universal/Islands of adventure for $84.99 + Tax. They don't post outside the USA, so I thought I could get around it by paying for them here and getting them posted to my cousins in New Jersey. Don't know why, but it isn't letting me do it. Don't know how long they will be doing it, otherwise i would go and pick them up when I arrived in Orlando. Does anyone know how long this offer is valid for or any way of getting around it?

My alternative if I can't get this sorted if to opt for the annual pass with blackout dates for 3 of us and an annual pass which allows free parking for my husband. Universal e-mailed me to say that they are doing a promotion at the moment and the code can be found on Wendy cups and coca cola this takes the cost down to $99 + Tax. I know the promotion is only on until the middle of April but I have trawled the internet and I can't find the promotion code, if anyone is just back and have the code could they please let me have it. (this is definately the 2nd choice as the blackout dates are for a week during our 3 week vacation.)

thanks

Hi all, been trying to get up to date with the buying of tickets.
but still a little confused....
here is were i stand at the moment......
1/ never been to florida....first timer...
2/ four of us wife and 2 teen daughters..
3/ booked bahama bay resort through CITY DIRECT... for a 2 week duration.which i must say were the best for all in booking...im sure someone would tell me a better place to book next time...
4/ the only tickets i got was from city direct...which they say was the best offer for older peeps 4x 99each 14 day pass for universals parks....
i am worried now has i am sure he said 4 parks...
now that i have looked into it a bit....
would bush gardens be part of this package...
and would i need to have any more tickets booked like which would be a good disney package... or should i just get tickets in florida...for any other attractions....so confused at the moment ...i just dont want to duplicate...thanks carl...going in august.....

Hi Carl - without knowing what your Universal Tickets are call (are they the Flex Tickets ?) its a bit difficult to comment.

The only other tickets I would go for on your first visit would be a 2 week Disney Pass, but not from TCD - go to a well established ticket broker on the web;such as Attraction Tickets Direct or Themepark Tickets Direct. These will give you unlimited access to the 4 Disney Theme Parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom & MGM) and the 2 Disney waterparks

There are other parks such as Sea World but you will already have alot of attractions covered, and you will never see it all first visit (or possibly second ) - these parks are huge ! For Epcot allow at least 2 days ! Don't forget most of the Disney Parks also hold massive firework displays EVERY night, which should not be missed.

Finally, being new to WDW you would learn an awful lot if you had a look on the Disney specialist website called 'The Dibb' - you'll get more ticket info there too.

Good luck & happy planning !
