I will keep this short. Holiday booked for Turkey to fly on July 18th. Coup occurred on 15th July. I phoned Thomsons on 16th July, was advised to call back next day to amend our holiday if I chose not to fly to a potential war zone. I phoned on the 17th July, the only response that day was to be quoted, ad verbatum, the Foreign Office advice, ie "safe to fly" But to remain vigilant and stay within hotel area. Our hotel was only 5 miles from the area still blocked by tanks etc. Not safe. Now i was informed that Thomson Holidays conditions stated I would not be entitled to an amended holiday on any terms. despite the fact I was willing to pay an amendment fee. Surely this cannot be considered fair? I have emailed the MD of Thomsons on September 8th, to date I have not received any response. What can I do? I just want the world to know how really uncaring and crooked this company appears to be. Has anyone else suffered similarly I wonder?
