The train station is in the centre of town, in the well-known Plaza de la Nogalera, next to calle San Miguel, It's an underground station.

How to get there? Here's 2 options.
Walking on the promenade from Benalmádena puerto, you will pass through La Carihuela and around the headland( Roca Chica).
Keep walking passed the hotel Melia Costa del sol, and eventually you will come to the Hadi building - there's a drinks kiosk situated on the pavement, more or less in front of the Hadi.
Behind the kiosk is a passageway/street.
Walk up the street and at the top tucked away in the corner are some steps to the lift. The lift costs 50 centimos each.

When you come out of the lift into a little precinct, walk straight ahead to the main road, turn left and after a few yards you'll come to the crossroad of calle San Miguel/ Las Mercedes
Cross over the road and walk up calle San Miguel - You will come to Plaza de la Nogalera, (which is situated on your left) and just passed the fountain, is the train station.

Option 2
Follow the instruction as above, but instead of walking to the steps , take the passageway/street on your left with the hostal Micaela on the corner.
Keep following the route and then you'll have 180 odd steps to climb - (hope you're fit )
Eventually when you get to the top of the steps, it brings you out at the bottom of calle San Miguel - walk straight up the street, crossing over the road and continue walking upwards until you come to Plaza de la Nogalera.

If you don't use the lift - walking up the street - take this left turn on the corner of Hostal Micaela and just follow the passageway to the start of the steps.

Whether it's the bus or the train, it makes no difference because you'll still have to get up into the town from down on the promenade.
You'll have to walk to Avda Palma de Mallorca (It's the main road through Torremolinos) to catch the bus (M110) to Malaga and there's a bus stop just around the corner or behind the train station (depending how you view it) - either way, if you're coming up calle San Miguel, you'll be passing the train station on the way.
Far too many bus stops for my liking. You can play around with this map- the bus stop near the train station is Casablanca.

No surprise then that I much prefer to travel on the train - they are incredibly reliable, punctual, clean, quicker and every 20 mins, and you can't go wrong - the end of the line is Centro- Alameda.

Looking at this map and where the Hotel Malaga Centro is situated (calle de los Marmoles) I'm guessing it will be about a 10 minute stroll from Centro- Alameda train station.
