I suppose it was inevitable that the price of alcohol would rise but I only buy Cedratine and Vieux Magon out there, neither of which I can get in the UK. i think most of the locals are more concerned that the price of basics such bread have gone up.

Has anyone heard where "The Original Changing Ladies" Troupe with Mark have disappeared Too?

I didn't know they had disappeared Jasmine but I'll make enquiries round the ex-pat community.

I inquired some time ago, as to whether the ` Original Changing Ladies` are still performing at the` Royal Kenz Hotel` and in Souse Casino; And the answer came back no?
That they haven't been seen in Tunisia for sometime.
Their is I know a group, which call themselves the `Changing Ladies`..who perform in Hotels in Tunisia;.but they are not the original...ones with Mark as their leader.
Are you still a regular visitor to Tunisia?

The original Changing Ladies were fantastic and I didn't know there was another group using the name. There used to be another couple of drag shows going the rounds, both of which I've seen, but neither were a patch on them.

I haven't been out to Sousse since April as finances are very tight at present but I hope to be back again in the spring. This is the first time for years that I haven't managed to get out again in the autumn and am feeling very deprived. I've still got quite a few contacts though, both locals and ex-pats, as well as being involved with another Tunisian website, and always keep an eye on the Tunisia forum of HT so I'm occasionally able to offer my two-pennyworth of advice.

Just a quick update Jasmine. Mark is apparently still around as my friend who has an apartment in Hamman Sousse phoned him and he was just on his way out for a dress fitting. He was going to ring her back, but so far hasn't done so. We can only assume the dress was for a show. I'll obviously pass on any info I get.

Hi Jasmine (and all), I’ve just got a message back from my friend in Sousse regarding Changing Ladies. When she phoned Mark he was in the middle of a dress fitting, which she assumes was for his show, (though of course that can’t be guaranteed. ) She has also sent him a text and is awaiting a reply. I'll give you an update on that if and when I hear anything.

She’s also been in touch with Tony of the Dream Girls and apparently they perform every Thursday night at the Eco Village in Sidi Bou Ali (wherever that may be). You can only book through Thomas Cook for this one. Once again recent events, (suicide bombers) have affected their numbers, which were down anyway, so not a great outlook. The third group, the Golden Girls, are no longer around.

I think The Golden Girls were preforming at The Tour Khalef at least there were flyers up for an act by the same name. As there is a few hotels on this complex I'm assuming that they are hoping for enough numbers to fill the smaller stage like room.

Hotel Review Added. 6 kilos of dates slightly put me over my weight limit on the way back I'm sure it wasn't the bottles of wine I had in the cases

I can recommended the Tunisian Idea of wine tasting: You must fill the glass of wine, Drink the entire glass to really see if you like the wine. These glasses weren't small either after tasting 5 sharing them between myself and my husband we decided on buying bottles. Good job we decided not to try anymore

Thanks Jules. Now please do give us more information on the wines. My favourite has always been Magon, or preferably Vieux Magon, but I've never actually found a white which I particularly liked. Some of the rose wines are quite palatable but nothing I've been particularly enthusiastic about.

Regarding the Golden Girls, my friend thinks it may be another group using the name as the original two went to work with Changing Ladies and one of them has now retired completely.

Well, I've now booked my flight for 3rd May :clap. It's the first flight out of Stansted to Enfidha next year and as the website said there were only 3 seats left for the return flight on 18th I thought I'd better grab it. Thomson flights start a few days later and are considerably dearer. I'll add luggage later as that's another arm and a leg. At the moment, though my internet is working OK my e-mails are not, so until my son comes round tomorrow and sorts it out for me I haven't actually got confirmation, but it appears to have gone through OK. There's plenty of time to book an hotel and plenty to choose from so that can be left until nearer the date.

Further to previous posts on here, it seems I've left it too late to see Changing Ladies again as they've apparently decamped to Morocco due to lack of business in Tunisia, despite the many years they were there.

That's great you have got your flights sorted I take it you got the TC website to work then?

I contacted them on line as the site said there were no flights at all next year. They assured me there were flights but having probs with their website. I then accessed through Chrome and got booked. At least I hope I've got booked, as though it went through OK I've now lost 'Outlook' and have been unable to get my e-mails. I'm sure No 4 son will eventually get round here and sort it out for me.

I'm with TalkTalk Graham. Still no e-mails, I just get a message: "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. Errors have been detected in the file C:\Users\Pat\Documents\Outlook Files\Outlook.pst". I rang my son again and he 'hopes' he can get over 'sometime on Saturday'. I then rang one of my grandsons who is doing an IT apprenticeship and he's coming over tomorrow to have a look. To say I'm p***ed off is putting it mildly.

On the bright side, as some of you may know I have been battling the Council regarding my fall on an uneven pavement in March 2012 resulting in a broken elbow, a metal plate in my arm, lack of movement, ruined holidays and general pain and inconvenience. I had a phone call from my solicitor a few weeks ago to say they were prepared to settle out of court for a sum almost twice what they originally offered, two thirds of what my solicitor was asking and more than I anticipated. Obviously I agreed and had a phone call on Monday to say the cheque was in the post. Equally obviously, Royal Mail hasn't delivered it yet so it won't clear until after Christmas now but heigh-ho, having waited over 20 months a few more days won't hurt.

Sorted and cheque in the bank Graham, and even my e-mail is now up and running again thanks to my brilliant grandson who came round yesterday afternoon and managed to press the right buttons.
