i know there are other places called gerona, but they are not really likely destinations for ryanair.
Gerona is the name in Spanish (Castillian) and Girona is the name in Catalan, and both spellings seem interchangeable to tour operators, for a lovely town in Catalonia that is about 30 km from the airport that bears the name

But the question is will voice recognition soft ware recognise all the different ways I've heard non-Spanish/Catalan speakers pronounce Girona/Gerona? I can imagine lots of frustrated customers as the robotic voice keeps repeating back to them 'I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that - please say it again'.
