Wow what a great hotel.

Just two things let it down. Food not so good and zero entertainment.

Rooms massive and very clean.

From outside this hotel looks great but it goes downhill afterwards. The dining room is too small for the number of guests, with table crammed together (that is if you can get one).

Before eating you have to clear away the previous guests dishes, for eating utensils you have to wash your own first, but after the first night it is not worth the hassle as the food is really dire and uneatable (Cold Soup, every veal dish you can think of, and greasy sausage)As for the staff a more surly bunch you couldn\'t meet anywhere.

If you do decide to go here please make sure you have insurance as you will need it when you visit the doctor with a stomach upset.

This hotel looks impressive on arrival, but after you pass the big chandelier everything goes downhill rapidly.

There are 228 sunbeds for 1900 people, I was advised by the tour rep that there were 1900 people booked into hotel and apartments during my stay. Guests were up at 6 o clock to get sunbeds and had to sit on them or take shifts, otherwise security kept taking the towels off, some of the security then put on there own towels and kept them for themselves until they finished their shift.

The cleaners work like slaves with someone standing over them, the dining room is worse than faulty towers, everybody waiting to get a table, no tables cleaned, maybe 20 people waiting for a plate, people wandering around looking for a fork, knife or spoon. You have to watch your salt ...
or pepper shaker if you get one. All cutlery is chipped, no cup or saucer, people giving out looking for a clean cup, then some plastic cups might be used if you are lucky.

The food quality is poor, I

Emily Gwynne had a holiday at Victoria Palace Hotel in August 2006
Victoria Palace is a fantastic place to stay more of a family holiday. It is a very clean hotel, people come round everyday making up your beds and giving you clean towels.

Hotel food is good they have a buffet and they have different sections, also a special children's section. The location is wonderful you are about five minutes away from the local water park and it is amazing great family fun day out, and as you leave the back of the hotel you are on the beach its is lovely to be so close to it.

Hotel staff is excellent I would say that it is strong in the restaurant, reception and in the bar mainly, everyone is polite and helpful and you can see that it is a very well looked after hotel by the security so you ...
feel very safe its is fantastic.

I would definitely visit the hotel again but not so sure with my family I would come with a group of friends.

Daley Family stayed at Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria in August 2006
We were a little worried about staying here after reading so many bad reviews on it. However we weren't disappointed and had a fantastic holiday.

The food was your average \'holiday resort\' food but there are plenty of restaurants to visit very close by so if you are fussy or want a change of scenery you can go elsewhere.

The cleanliness of the hotel was outstanding and the cleaners literally never stopped.

The location was perfect, right next to the beach so if you aren't so sad as to get up at 6am to sit on a sun bed you can find plenty of loungers there. We however chose to sit at the bar on the Havanas and put lilo\'s on the floor. You need drinks throughout the day anyway so why not get ...
table service while sunbathing!

Please don't be put off staying at this hotel, people will always write bad things about everything but to be honest, when you are on holiday you expect things to be different from England and some people obviously don't like that?!

What can I say about this hotel? Well upon arriving you'll probably think you have really made an excellent choice.....Think Again!!

The lobby area looks great. A massive chandelier, Maid's sweeping up everywhere, decor amazing..."We're really in a palace" - not. This is as good as it gets. Believe me.

The food is ok. - Just ok. The service is absolutely appalling. You would think that you had inconvenienced the staff when you ask for something, for example a knife and a fork. - They're attitude is really, really bad and stinks. Chipped plates, and cups. 5 star? - Absolutely no way.3 plus at absolute best.

Cleaners - ok but sometimes we had to wait 4 days before the bed sheets were changed. When we complained to the rep the cleaners complained to us about complaining!!

Sun beds??? - Well be prepared ...
to get up very early in the morning. - I used to get up at 6.45 every morning and have to sit on the bed because the security staff would sweep them on the hour. The pool space is just too small for the guests staying there. Plus all the beds are soaking wet in the morning and don

The gang visited the Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach in August 2006
On arriving the hotel looked spectacular. Got to our rooms fairly prompt, which were very clean, with a nice bathroom and lovely view with a good size balcony... (no complaints in this area)

The following morning going to breakfast, was a nightmare- tables hadn\'t been laid, cutlery was always dirty and chipped. their was plenty of food to go round, but wasn\'t really to out taste and a bit samey.

Pool area, very nice, however...you could only get a sunbed if you was up before 6am (no exaggeration!) 1900 people and only 250 sunbeds, really bad. This wasn't really a problem because we are more beach lovers, but they had a cheek charging us for the sunbeds on the beach every morning, and with a party of 6, we had spent out a lot money on sunloungers over the 2 ...
week period...this was also not stated by cosmos.

The Bulgarian staff were all very rude. There want one person we felt was polite. They were just awful.

We will NOT be visiting Bulgaria ever again!!!

Highfieldc had a holiday at Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria in July 2006
Just back after a brill two weeks in this hotel. We loved everything about it. The rooms are large and comfortable with twin beds and sofa (turns into bed if needed). The decor/furnishing all over the hotel is beautiful and very impressive. They are cleaning all day over.

The food we found great, lots of choice both at breakfast and evening meal, and not chips every night. We took advantage of the early opening at evening meal (5.30) and found the food to be hot and fresh.

I think maybe the complaints in previous reports maybe if the restaurant was used later when it was busier. The pool area is lovely although I agree with the shortage of sunbeds.

We did notice that the Life guard and security did go and remove towels ...
from unattended beds on most mornings, and also saw the hotel manager asking to see room keys of people using the beds.

We didnt bother with the pool as there was a large party of us and it was easier to use the beach. for families who like a kids club and daytime and evening activities this is not the hotel for you as there is nothing available. Again this didnt bother us,our kids are older and the resort has loads to offer.

We are booking this hotel again for next year. Dont be put off by reviews go and give it a chance I think you will be surprised.

This hotel definately has the wow factor when it comes to decor. Our family room was very big. The food was ok but then again we are not fussy eaters. The location was great, right on the beach and away from the noise in the resort centre. We found the Hotel bar girls to be nice and friendly but the restaurant staff made no impression on us at all. Getting a bed at the pool was a real pain and we were asked to move from the seats beside the poolbar because we weren\'t having a drink even though there was no one else around to use them. On our first night a lady told us her friend had her clothes stolen from her hotel room. The hotel safes have keys instead of ...
combination locks and we are convinced that money was stolen from ours even though it was locked. We found that everywhere you went they tried to short change you even when we had already tipped them. I had to demand my proper change back from a waitress in one of the restaurants.
Friends of ours stayed here in 2005 and their kids had their nintendos stolen from the hotel bar when there was only staff around and the management did nothing about it. Even the ticket lady on the bus was given out to by an angry passenger she had tried to rip off. Although this hotel looks beautiful it definately lacks good service and friendliness. Oh be prepared to pay crazy money if you have to visit the doctor. One woman paid 500 euro to get two stic
tches. We would not stay here again because of the staff but we really liked the resort.

Adrienne Gage visited the Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach in June 2006
I stayed in the Apartments which when you walk into the room looks lovely and would of been nice if we didn't have problems after problems. Our boiler leaked in the bathroom we reported it and took 3 days for some one to come and fix it. When we thought it was fixed we turned the hot water on and it started dripping again in the end it was leaking down to the reception and they was in and out our room when we was not in there (even came in when I was asleep in the bedroom because I didn't hear the knock on the door they just came in!) Then after that the ceiling was melting where there was a electricity box so we had to leave the light off. We reported it and they moved us to ...
another room which was smaller than what we was in, no curtains, and the beds were like pull out beds!! Their fixing of the ceiling was sticking duck tape over the hole and a tube from the boiler into the toilet so it didn't go on the floor it dripped into the toilet.

The apartments weren't even finished they were still having delivery's of chairs, microwaves etc. Rest of the Holiday was great but wouldn't visit Bulgaria again as once you\'ve been round it all thats it really. Some of the staff were rude and sometimes unhelpful.

Gillian Austin stayed at Victoria Palace Hotel in June 2006
The hotel is very impressive to look at but that is where it ends. The food was never hot and trying to get a table for dinner was something of a rugby scrum. Having eventually got one they were never cleared by the staff who spent more time playing with their mobile phones than waiting on. I took to clearing my table myself and then trying to obtain cutlery was a real problem. There were only 2 toasting machines in the whole of the hotel, one of which was broken every day. Plates were not clean, always wet and quite often chipped.

Trying to get a sunbed was a real joke. For a hotel of this size their were only 200 or so beds and if you were not up at 5am - ...
6am you had no chance of one. The bridges over the swimming pool were really nice to look at but lethal when wet.

The staff really were not at all helpful unless you were wanting to spend money. Sheets on the bed were too small. I would like to say that the cleanliness of the hotel was superb but that is the only positive thing I can think of to say.

I certainly would not go back and would advise anyone thinking of going to this hotel to think twice and then go somewhere else.

Paul had a holiday at Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach in June 2006
Very poor service, there was three of us in one room and only two towels, asked reception for three days running for an extra towell and in the end had to harass the maid until we got an extra one. One of the beds in our room was a pulled out sofa with no mattress on and was unfit to sleep on, again they ignored out complaints.

Food was ok with quite a bit of choice, they also allowed you to change evening meal to lunch if you give them a days notice and if you ask at lunchtime you can have your evening meal in the A La Carte restaurant which is basically the same food on offer but served by the friendlier waitresses with guaranteed cutlery.

Spa was good but again they try to get you to book ...
more and more treatments, enjoyed Turkish bath and had a Balkan Sports massage where I was crawling up the walls, felt like he had ripped my calves off the bone, felt quite good the next day though. If you book a few treatments you can get use of the indoor swimming pool, which proved useful for the kids as we had a few overcast cooler days at the start of June.

The casino opened when we were there with flyers given out saying everything was free. However on enquiring they said you have to pay 20 lev nefore you have a go and the machines are about 0.25lev a go. I asked how you get your winnings as you don\'t actually put the cash in the machines and they said you can\'t it\'s free. ????? Didn\'t bother having a go after that.

I have just returned from a fortnight in the Victoria Palace in sunny beach. The hotel was fantastic the room was massive when I booked I asked for a larger standard room and that is what I got, you could have easily slept 8 adults in there.

The bed was 2 double beds together. It was all done out in leopard skin (sounds horrible but it was really nice)the staff worked very hard all day.

I find it hard to believe that there is so much bad comments about this hotel as I found nothing wrong with it.

The food was lovely and I never had any cold food at all and there was 6 of us.

The hotel is in what you would call the quieter end all that means is it is not where all the bustle and ...
most of the bars are but there are plenty of bars and shops all the way along the fronts.

If you are over about 30 and want a relaxing hol use this hotel but if you want loud noise to keep you up all night then go to the other end of the resort.

I hope people read this who are taking a holiday at this hotel because believe me you will have a great time. I would go back to this hotel as everything for me was perfect.

Bev visited the Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach in June 2006
We went to Bulgaria for our first time this year. After reading so many mixed reviews on Victoria Palace we were quite nervous about what to expect but we needn\'t have been. The hotel is fabulous!!!

If you are looking for something with a bit of luxury then this is the place. The decor may not be to everyones taste but I think it just added to the splendour of the place.

As for our room well what can I say ... I think we were spoilt because we had a suite and it was just enormous. There was a large circular seating area at one end that had a pull out double bed and at the other end were 2 3/4 size beds put together to make one huge bed.

We had a balcony ...
with a sea view that took your breath away.

The food ... this was ok, lots of choice but didn\'t cater for children. My 2 eat with their eyes and refused to eat anything in the evenings so we ate out which was fine because it is so cheap. Breakfast was good tho because there was everthing there, from bacon and eggs to cereal, fruit, meats and cheeses. and lots of chilled water and juices.

There was no entertainment there at all other than some woman playing the piano. I don\'t like places that have riotous entertainment with kids running around everywhere but it would have been nice if they had put some sort of show on in the evenings even if it was just 2-3 time a week.

On the whole we loved Victoria Palace ... so much so that we booked the day after we came home to go back next year. We even requested our same room!!! The only downside was that there is nothing for children if the weather is a bit dodgy (we had 3 days where they couldnt go in the pool) It would have been nice if they had a games room or something to occupy them if need be. If you\'re looking for a hotel with a bit of luxury, wonderful location at the quieter end of the resort then this is it.

Just before I finish we did have an added bonus when we stayed there because Sting was there as a guest of the owner who lives on the top floor. We were told that 50cent had been there and Anastacia was due to visit some time soon. So if you\'re lucky you could even be rubbing shoulders with the stars!!!

Susan Glover visited the Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria in June 2006
Arrived at the Victoria Palace on the 26th June for 11 nights. Are hotel room was double booked for the first night, so we where put in the Victoria Palace apartments next door to the hotel. It was a one bedroom apartment.

Apartments are very nice, so decided to stay there for all the holiday.

Restaurant was a nightmare at breakfast and dinner, not enough tables. Chipped plates and cups. Not enough knives and forks. Food cold on a number of occasions. No entertainment. Forget about getting a sunbed unless you want to get up at 5 in the morning to put towels on them. There is a notice saying any towels left unattended for over an hour they would be removed, but they never where.

Lovely pool area, but no lifeguard ever on duty.

Jean stayed at Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria in May 2006
I returned home from Bulgaria on Monday and was most impressed with Vic Palace. The room was large and airy and spotlessly cleaned every day.

The hotel staff are very friendly and while some don't have great English they will do their best to help you.
I have to say I found the Spa attendants very very pushy, I went to book an Aromatherapy massage but had to go through a 20 min spiel about how a 200leva massage would be much better. In the end I didn\'t bother having one, I went to the beach for one and also had another further down the resort.

The hotel wasn\'t fully booked so there wasn\'t any problem with sunbeds but the beach is only across the road if there was a shortage.

As for the food, breakfast was fine and dinner was ok ...
too. One night it was mostly deep fried food but we just had a big plate of salad, bread rolls and some desert. There was something to suit everyone morning and evening. Strangely enough there was a problem with cutlery, it was limited to say the least. But hey you\'re on holidays, if you have to wait for a spoon to eat your cake then just relax and go with it.

Now for location, you are a good mile from the centre of the resort so ladies remember to pack a pair of flat walking shoes. I used to change into my fashion shoes when I got down there and put my flatties in a bag.

While I understand some people have had bad experiences ours was on the whole excellent and I will certainly book Vic Palace for my next stay in Bulgaria.

Sharon p visited the Victoria Palace Hotel, Sunny Beach in September 2005
We returned from Victoria Palace two days ago. After reading a lot of the reviews I felt like cancelling the holiday!! But I'm so glad we didn\'t it was the hotel that made our holiday.

From the moment we walked it to the hotel we were so impressed it was so beautiful I think we will have a job to better this hotel.

Our room was fantastic as you look at the photo in the brochure it was on the top floor (8th) with the large balcony over looking the beautiful beach, our room was large the ceiling curved to 20ft high in the middle! Spotlessly clean with a good sized 4 piece bathroom suite. The only small thing was the angle the shower was at it could only be in one position and it squirted straight into your face and ...
the water first thing in the morning was should I a little on the cool side!!

As for the food which so many of the complaints seemed to refer to, we had a lovely choice of food every evening. There was a choice of various salads, soups and lovely crusty rolls for starters, and the main meal usually consisted of mainly chicken, veal, pork, there was always a choice of vegetable and the most lovely baby new potatoes and for the less adventurous chips. The hotel caters for a wide range of nationalities (not just the British!) I cannot understand people who want to go abroad and eat burger and chips!! If you want this type of food this hotel is not for you stick to \"British Pubs\" in Spain!! The breakfasts were the best there were continental style, cereals, bacon, eggs, scrambled eggs bean, bacon, sausages in fact too much choice to mention and to top it all at around 8am a chef dressed very smartly in his white uniform would cook fresh pancakes, what more could you ask for?

We would then go and sit and relax on the comfy settees in the lobby area have a coffee and listen to the lady playing the piano, and we really enjoyed having a drink in the bars especially the safari bar. It would really spoil this beautiful hotel if there was tacky entertainment like karaoke or bingo if you want this type of entertainment then this hotel is not for you. In my opinion it would benefit from changing the casino (which was always empty) to a disco bar just a small suggestion.

This was a fantastic hotel and I cannot see why it gets some bad reviews it certainly made our holiday!

I cannot believe some of the bad reports this hotel has had, I was dreading my holiday there but having just returned think I must of been staying in a different hotel to the one some people are describing.

The hotel was brilliant the staff friendly and the food was good too.

As for entertainment how can people say there was none why is this such a surprise, all brochures I have read clearly state there is no entertainment in the hotel, people seem to moan for the sake of moaning.

To anyone travelling to this hotel IN THE FUTURE you will love it ignore all the bad things others say they just aren't true.
