Just back from 2 week stay at the Wela. Most of the staff were friendly but others were very arrogant and didn't pass the time of day with you. Hotel very strict about bringing own drink and food to pool area but we done it and never got caught. Maid came in every day but only emptied the bin. Had to clean the bathroom myself and only got our sheets changed three times in two weeks (had to make up the beds ourselves). Carpet or balcony was never swept in the whole two weeks we were there. Hotel manager tried to make us pay

I read previous reviews on this hotel and decided to book it when I read it was rated 3rd best in Sunny Beach.
Upon arrival we found reception to be very helpful and clean. A porter took our cases to our room (we did not get the choice to take them ourselves)but this was not a problem. Make sure you have small note for a tip.
Room was clean and spacious but we looked out onto bulding works at back of hotel, but we heard no noise so was not a problem. We stayed for 10 days and noticed that the room was not cleaned each day only clean towels and beds made. Bathroom floor and balcony were not mopped at all during our stay.
Then came breakfast, do not bother, the food at this hotel is not edible. I am not a fussy eater at all but found it difficult and lived on fruit and choco ball cereals. (Take your own tea bags and coffee)also watch out for bar staff. They often add a lev or 2 when you pass money over the bar. You are not allowed to take drinks bought from shops round pool. You can ge away with this if you are discreet. We did not get caught.

I read some of the reviews and was concerned about what I was going to find. I had booked a 10 day stay half board at an incredibly low price over the internet. And it was only a 6 hour drive from where I currently live.
Check-in was simple and straight forward and yes our room overlooked the pleasant pool area, this closed at 7pm which is good (no rowdy

We found the hotel to be very clean upon arrival and our room was cleaned every day without fail. The room was very spacious with everything in working order. Just lacking a kettle for the early morning cuppa!
Bathroom was also spacious and very clean.
We only ate breakfast at the hotel and for the price we had paid for the holiday we were very pleased with the choice available. Something to suit all appetites.
The hotel is located on a very busy road but within a two minute walk to the beach. Handy enough for all amenities but far enough away not to be disturbed.
Already planning our return for 2008.

Room was excellent and very clean. Maid service was good time with towels changed daily and usual housekeeping stuff. Hotel staff very friendly. Only down side was lack of entertainment (although they did arrange something day before we left and bad weather caused everyone to stay in hotel).
Other downside was although hotel had own shop where you could buy water, juice etc. they did not like you consuming this in lounge or at poolside, they wanted you to purchase these at the pool bar which was much more expensive.
Was told off by hotel staff and advised could only consume food bought in shop in my room!
Breakfast was not popular with my kids as they only ate it twice in the two weeks we were there. Could have been better. Overall though nice Hotel and I would recommend.
Nice hairdressers and Beauty treatments too, really cheap..

Two weeks at the Wela, hotel clean and well presented.
Rooms large with very large balcony, ours overlooked the main road, however this was not a problem with regard to noise etc.
Breakfast was acceptable with a good choice of cereals, eggs, Bulgarian bacon, spicy sausages, fresh fruit, pastries etc. Unfortunately domestic toasters were used, they could not cope with demand of guests wanting toast. Dinner was a disaster, we went for our dinner on the first evening and had to leave after eating a small salad as the hot dishes on offer were not edible, we are not fussy eaters by any means, however, we could not take what was on offer. We did try again later into the holiday, but there was no improvement.
I would only recommend booking b&b.
