We had an excellent time at the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace.
The room (standard) was spacious and spotless, as was the bathroom. All the rooms had dream views straight from the balcony out to the Elafiti Islands, though some balconies on one side of the hotel (not ours!) could be seen from the pool and outside dining areas.
Despite having over 300 rooms, the only time you really saw other people was at breakfast, as everyone came at the last minute, which created a restful atmosphere.
There are two outside pools (one only large enough for children) and a roped-off swimming area in the sea. We never had any problem getting a sunbed, and the staff were unfailingly helpful handing out towels and complimentary fruit!
The whole top floor of the hotel is given over to the ...
Health and Wellness centre, which we visited every day, usually seeing only a couple of other guests.
The indoor pool is only about 15 metres, but attached are two Jacuzzis and two saunas! The fitness room is incredibly well provisioned with very up to date equipment.
There were 4 different places to eat in the hotel, of varying smartness. If you like seafood, you will have a marvellous time. The only real quibble we had was the lack of vegetarian options, though there was always the delicious ciabatta sandwiches at the poolside bar if nothing else was on offer.
Buses to the Old City gate (no 4) start from outside the hotel, so you are always guaranteed a seat. They are so easy to use, allowing you to hop in and out of town to eat, drink and be merry, that the calmness back in the hotel is quite a haven.
