Visited July 2005. Hotel quite good.

Rooms are excellent.

Entertainment is basic but the food is the worst I have eaten on holiday. Not hot nor cold just the temperature to attract germs and it did.

Outside bar serves drinks in plastic glasses severely scratched inside not hygienic, watched bar staff put glass under tap water which you are not supposed to drink.

As a four very over rated.

We spent a very enjoyable week at the Long Beach, we found the staff to be excellent, very pleasant, nothing too much trouble.

Our room was large spotlessly clean with pool and sea views.

We did not use the pool area as it was too crowded and noisy for us but we spent every day lazing on the beach which was clean, quiet with 2 bars and new toilet facilities. The sea was clean and like a warm bath. There are a couple of natural lagoon's for splashing about in when tide was out, very enjoyable.

We had all our meals in the Italian restaurant and enjoyed the buffet breakfasts lunch and dinner. We only went for our evening meal at 9.30 but there was still plenty of choice and food was always hot.

Entertainment was fairly low key but the animation team worked really hard and we enjoyed the couple of shows we went to.

We would definitely go again.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel celebrating my husbands birthday. It is definitely not up to Hilton standards. We too experiences out of order lifts and after trying to get to our floor the lift stopped the lights went out whilst we were in it - luckily we returned to ground and walked up to the top floor. We upgraded to a suite, expensive but it was the only thing we really enjoyed, but the bathroom really needs upgrading. Painting in the corridors is still going on and building work was in progress in the main restaurant. Staff tried to clean up the beach daily but moving the rubbish but transferring it to just over the piles of dirt at the end of the beach didnt really solve the problem and staff using a small screen at the end of the beach to relieve themselves was not the best view.

The food was plentiful but we had and continue to have stomach problems since returning, we lived on the fresh fried eggs in the morning and pringles which we bought, having spent the whole holiday with stomach problems.

Having been to a new Tropicana Hotel in Sharm a year ago, we would NOT return to this hotel and Hilton have a long way to go.

Other guests mainly Russian and German seemed to be having a good time.

The pool was not cleaned very much, we only saw chemicals being thrown in the pool once during our stay, looking in the lights in the pool at night would put anyone off using it.

The lack on places to eat was also unexpected with the only a la carte being a paid restaurant which touted for business on the beach every day.

One plus point is although a large hotel, noise levels were low at all times and very peaceful in the morning and between 1 and 3 - even the entertainment team quieten down the music.

The pools and beach area were ample for the size of the hotel, with plenty of comfy sunbeds. Some of the pools were heated and actually felt like you were swimming in a bath rather than a pool the others can best be described as freezing!! - Certainly refreshing after the heat of the sun.

However the main let down in this area is the lack of toilet facilities. There was only 1 small block so a trip back to your room was called for.

The rooms were a fair size with plenty of space for clothing. The bathroom could have done with being renovated but met our requirements. The cleaning staff were very efficient and helpful.- Checking several times daily that everything was ok!!

The food is in a buffet style but was not to the standard expected from the Hilton group. The food at lunch was the same as in the evenings with no real snacks available (sandwiches, Chips etc). There were two buffet restaurants open for dinner, the one next to the lobby had a much nicer atmosphere.

Unfortunately the a'la carte restaurant was closed for refurbishment (we were not advised of this)which reduced the eating options available, other than the main restaurants the other places you could eat consisted of just one option each day- such as fish burgers or shish kebabs.

If you are planning on making the most of the all inclusive as far as drinks go I would not recommend this hotel. The pool bar and beach bar (shack) close at sunset (however, with the wind most people did not stay out past 2 or 3pm). The only other options are the chat and chew bar (a lightly thatched roof- far to cool to sit in the evening) and the lobby bar or disco. During our stay the under capicity lobby bar closed for renovations (we were not advised of this happening) so everyone had to sit in the lobby in the evening and make do with a temporary bar. There were less than 100 seats so each night was a major fight for somewhere to sit (even with the lobby bar open there is still nowhere near enough space). Waiting for clean glasses became a regular occurence.

There was an entertainment team there so if you wanted to take part in the daily activities you could do, they did not harrass you to join in. They also put on shows in the evening but those that we saw left a lot to be desired. The only other entertainment was a singer in the lobby bar.

The hotel is situated far from Hurghada with only a small parade of shops outside the complex. The complex itself does have a couple of basic shops for souvenirs.

I fully concur with everything said by previous reviewers. This hotel has been taken over by the Hilton Group and currently being brought up to (I presume) a Hilton standard.

During our visit pillars in the lobby area were, in turn, screened off and painted - with the resulting smell. Other maintenance work was going on in the lobby at the same time. The Vienna Cafe just off the lobby served as the bar area in the evening. A female singer (not particularly good) entertained here each night.

There are few seats so the lobby area is used for the overspill and even there couples stand around waiting for seats to become vacant. The Games Room became out of use due to mainenance work.

The corridors outside the rooms were re-painted during our stay and again left a lingering paint smell. We stayed "all-inclusive" for 2 weeks and although our transport to the airport was 16:30 we checked out at 12 noon as required.

However, it seems we were no longer entitled to a free cup of coffee now despite the fact that our stay did not commence until 20:00 p.m

The Hilton Long Beach Resort is exactly what it says - "a resort" - not to be mistaken for a Hilton Hotel which we have found to be completely different.

The location is not brilliant there is nothing outside of the resort complex. As for the food - it is about average the actual restaraunt is noisy and a bit like a works canteen - be advised to eat outside around the pool or go to the restaraunt by the beach.

All of the waiters we found to be really efficient and friendly All of the staff at all levels were extremely helpful and always had a warm welcome and a smile.

We went with SAGA who had an excellent representative called Aldo who was always very friendly, helpful and informative. The food is average the actual restaraunt is extremely noisy and a bit like a works canteen - you would best be advised to eat outside around by the pool or go to the restaraunt by the beach.

All of the waiters we found to be really efficient and friendly. The pool area was great plenty of room to spread out.

I've stayed for 8 days in the hotel. I can understand that Jeroen says that the hotel isn't for invalid persons, but the waiters, food, pool, service was very good.

There are always some small things that are not very good for Dutch standards but is that a problem? I think not.

It is true that the rooms are NOT 5 stars but 3

We went to this hotel July 2005 and we are still paying the price of the visit.

Our stomach problem was that bad that in the second week we could not sit down together for a meal without one of us having to rush to the loo. We have never met so many people who suffered with stomach problems in all the years we have travelled abroad. The doctors surgery was full every day and at

What is there to say about this hotel... In Holland it is being sold as a 5-star de luxe hotel. It is highly overrated, it is maximum 4 stars. And it is definitely not worth to be called a Hilton hotel.

But let's start positive... what is nice? The swimming pool looks awesome. Because it is so big, you don't always need to have the idea to be in a really big size hotel. The rooms are spacious enough and the hotel is clean.

There seem to be a lot of activities for kids. So that is nice for parents who want some time alone.

The weather... it seems you cannot get more sun without clouds then here.

What is not so great about this hotel. It is horror for people with bad legs. There is one elevator in this huge complex, and when we were there it didn't work (we were there 7 days, it seems it should be possible to have an elevator fixed within 7 days...)

The All Inclusive system is the worst I have ever seen. Only with buffet you could eat, but if one of the waiters would give you a drink or an ice cream, it would be even a small portion for a midget. I have never seen a waiter less generous as here.

The food is edible, (2-3 star) and then you see how big the hotel really is. It is more a food factory then a restaurant. The best times was when they served Egyptian food, but the rest of the week is was uninspired basic food (chicken and beef, rice and pasta and potatoes).

The pool is missing toilets nearby, which results in people either peeing in the pool, or peeing in the grass next to the pool (as I saw many Russians do).

The music at the pool tends to be very loud. And with 2 cd's you hear the same music over and over again.

The beach is the most horrible I ever saw at a hotel. This is not a beach, it is a garbage belt. It is in big need of some styling. It takes ages before the sea goes down (50 meters walking into the see, and the water is still not higher then your ankles). Lots of dangerours animals (I saw, again a Russian, girl with blood on her arm because she went into the sea and was bitten by something).

The surroundings: The hotel is far away from Hurghada itself. But then again, Hughada is a city so not worthy of visiting, that it doesn't bother that much. Hughada is horrible. Especially the irritating sales people with there stupid phrases ("Hello my friend, where you come from?", "are you German? French? Britain?", ''How mucha price", "What you want to pay?", "Come into my shop my friend", "You have euro, dollar, Egyptian pound?", "Where are you going?", "Hello my friend, where come from?", "In what hotel you stay", "Hello my friend where you come from?"). The sales people made me decide never ever to visit Egypt again. They should not touch me or my family with their (often filthy) hands. Brrr, they ruin holidays!

The staff of the Hilton Long Beach should be better trained in hospitality. One of the waiters asked my wife if she had a mobile phone, so he could call her. I do not appreciate this kind of behaviour for staff towards my wife and we were highly insulted by that question. I find it bad that something like that can happen in a Hilton hotel.

All in all... well, I stayed there because of the name Hilton and the fact it was promoted in Holland as a 5 star de luxe hotel. But the experience was not so great and I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. I would even actively disadvice people to go there. Rather pick another hotel and another country.
