Trevor stayed at Annabelle Village Hotel in September 2005
I would like to counter the rather negative image of the Annabelle Village given in the last review.
This is the best holiday hotel that we have stayed in.From the striking front entrance to the magnificent gardens with such a stunning array of exotic plants; from the well designed pools (including an indoor one!)to the on-site Taverna we just enjoyed the whole ambience of the place.
As regards the food it was always delicious and the choice was staggering.often making it difficult to decide what to eat!We also found that during our two weeks there was always something different on display at the well presented buffet.
I would also single out all of the staff for special praise as we found them to be the friendliest and most helpful staff that we have ever encountered.

problems with sun beds being \"booked\" but we were there rather late in the season and I can imagine that this could cause problems in high season.
The only slight \"negative\" that we found was that some of the entertainment was geared towards the Italian guests but as they made up the majority of the guests during our time there I suppose we can\'t really quibble!
All in all we had a marvellous time at this hotel and in our opinion it fully deserves its 5 star rating.

i have visited this hotel twice first in 2003 then again 2005. and is the best hotel i have stayed in to date.The staff are friendly and helpful esp mickalis one of the waiters in the restaurant and maria in the swim up bar. the food excellent and the service was 2nd to none. the entertainment was the only downside it catered for the mass of italians that were stayin there at the time. would i recomend this hotel. just wish i could pick the hotel up and the staff and put it down wherever i want to take a holiday. i would definatly go back for a third time

Food was a bit repetetive but lots of it, although the dining room got a bit packed and you felt like you were being rushed,you also had to wait in a queue for a table.
It is self service and on one occasion when we went for food we came back tofind our table had been given to some one else so we had to queue again with our food which was cold by the time we sat down.
Rooms are good but a little bit dated- black ash wood type furniture. The cleaners were good and everywhere was clean.
The animation team worked very hard but did not try make any one join in if they didn\'t want to. They were italian and you will find this hotels caters for French,Italians,Germans, Greeks and British.

It is self service and on one occasion when we went for food we came back tofind our table had been given to some one else so we had to queue again with our food which was cold by the time we sat down.

Bit of a way out of town but only 6euros to town and there is a bus that stops at the gate taking you into
hersonissos,aghios(ag nic)or Heraklion.
This hotel is not suitable if you have any walking diffuclties as there are lots of steps and they are quite steep. There is a slope at the side of the hotel and a steep incline to the gate of the hotel.
There is a porter service that will take your bags to and from your room, shich is a bonus really due to the steps as I have mentioned.
Did have a fairly good time, unfortunately I do have mobility problems so did struggle a bit.
I don\'t know whether I would go back there as there are other mucher nicer places on Crete to stay.

Whether you have a family room or just a room don\'t worry as they are both the same, very small for a family of four and not sufficient space for two adults let alone childrens belongings.
Food available buffet style only, no A la carte as mentioned in brochures. Plenty of choices available but before long they all taste the same as not much variation. Also if you do not time breakfast and dinner correctly you could end up waiting in a very long queue.
Entertainment available but to what standard I would not like to add.

pools are of good size but be very wary of what swimwear you choose to put in that water as all my bikinis perished and discoloured and my childrens trunks also perished. Not too sure why at moment.
All this aside we did have a nice time but would not rate the hotel as 5* possibly 3. Not too sure what they have to have to be 5* but this definitely is not a 5*.
Last but not least steps everywhere so make sure you are able to climb. Beware pushchairs and wheelchairs.
