We stayed at The villa Alexander in Stalis, six of us, for two weeks, the pool was always warm, room were very spacious, cooking facilities are very basic so we ate out all the time. The staff were very helpful.
The steps tended to be quite slippery, with no hand rails, which was a little dangerous. We had no trouble with it being on the main road as there is an underpass about a hundred yards away.
We would have spent more time in the pool bar if there was entertainment instead of having to go out every night. My partner and I are going for a month this year.

Arrived at hotel in early hours (approx. 2am) only 1 member of staff on duty but was quickly shown to room which was opposite the pool and nicely set out with good use of the space.
The only downside was the outside space but this was adequate for our needs, if you want more balcony/terrace space there are lots of rooms with this but you pay slightly more. Room was clean on arrival and rooms cleaned daily with regular towel and linen changes.
The place itself is on the busy main road but it didn't cause a problem with getting to the main beach road where all the bars and restaurants were and bus stop outside if you want to venture out and about. All the staff were friendly and helpful - not a lot of frontline staff but this didn't seem to cause any difficulties - we had a problem with the air conditioning but this was sorted same day.
The bar was reasonably priced and provided good snacks, and the evening bar man will have a game of pool with you. The pool only seemed to get crowded just before lunch time and the water was never cold.
I went with my family this year but would like to return with my friends next year.

as soon as we arrived at the VA, the staff where running about helping everyone, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived in our room, we had a seprate kitchen, bedroom and a rather large (for greece) bathroom, droped our gear off, and had a look at the pool and bar area, nice pool (cold) but nice, bar was fine too, not to expensive, the main road outside the hotel is no problem, (at leats while we where here) just keep your wits about you, you are no more than three mins walk from the main stalis beach road.

The apartments are basic as is the case in most of greece but are cleaned daily and sheets and towels changed every 3 days. The apartments are set on different levels so may not be good for people with walking difficulties. Dont be put off when you arrive as the entrance to these apartments are on a main road and it is not a grand entrance.
The food in the apartments is very good and is good value for money so are the drinks. 2 Euro for large beer.
I must thank Pavlos, Tonin and Rania for their great hospitality. I must add i'm unsure when Pavlos and Tonin sleep as they always seem to be around. We had three teenage boys with us and they throughly enjoyed their stay. Pavlos makes some fab cocktails and Tonin's dancing is great. These boys work extremely hard to make sure you have a good holiday and we had some great nights in the bar.
I cannot leave without mentioning Nancy the dog she is a star wherever Pavlos went so did Nancy.
We had a good holiday and would go back if you like a fun holiday.

Stayed here for the second time since 2006 - we would definitely go back as Stalis is perfect for us.
The staff at the VA are brilliant from Pavlos - Tony (his brother and Rania and especially Nancy Pavlos's dog, nothing is too much trouble for them to help you.
Basic greek accommodation, but everything is there for you, highly recommended A plus*****

we stayed here towards the end of july 07.the accomodation itself was very good.our room was spacious & was cleaned every day.clean sheets every other day if i remember right! the usual self catering facilities-kettle,2 ring cooker jobby,kettle.a toaster would've been good though.poolside bar we did'nt use so can't comment on that.the pool itself was good but could be very crowded in peak season & we sometimes struggled to get 2 loungers thanks to those who left towels,coins etc on them.the staff were friendly enough but never had to deal with them as we had no problems.the location is all that lets this place down,in my opinion.it's the wrong side of a very busy road,which has to be crossed in order to get to the resort centre.unless you walk 100yards or so to the underpass but even that way you encounter a t junction.you need your wits about you.your about 5 mins from the centre of stalis.no real traffic noise is heard.as i've said,the only thing that let's it down is the location.
