Mastihari is a small resort with some lovely restaurants, a few bars and shops and a beautiful beach. There is no entertainment as such but we weren't looking to be entertained so this suited us perfectly. The food was wonderful in all the restaurants we visited and very good value. The beach is long, wide and sandy and has plenty of sun loungers, which cost 3 euros a day. The sea is suitable for children as it slopes in gently, although it was quite rough a few days and on those days there was a lot of seaweed. I would recommend Mastihar to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in a typically Greek resort, it is especially good for families and we would definitley consider returning.

The nearest town, Mastihari, is a taxi ride away and is cute but touristy. Some nice tavernas can be found here. A 20 minute walk outside the hotel is the new Aqua-park. It has coach parties visiting most of the day but get there late afternoon/ early evening and you have large areas to youself. Great lazy river and wave pool, plus 3 water slides. Beach is ok but we prefer pools, sea could be choppy in the mornings but calmer later. Short taxi ride to Kos town which is worth a visit to break up the holiday but is just like most major Greek island harbour towns. A hydrafoil goes to Turkey from here.

Small but friendly village. This isn't a typical Greece village more a village made for holiday makers. A few small supermarkets, places to eat and bars. Sitting outside one of the bars with a cocktail watching the wonderful sunset you could be anywhere your mind took you. Bliss.

No entertainment as such in this village, just good food, good wine and the company you take with you. Again Bliss. There is always plenty of room on the beachs and an abundance of sunbeds/parasols.

Mastihari is basically a village with a small harbour which serves a few fishermen and ferries to neighbouring islands.
There is a reasonable selection of bars and tavernas serving local foods (notably fresh fish dishes)but little in the way of other entertainment.
The beach is a long sandy strip with plenty of loungers but it could be cleaner.
There is a small water sports facility situated on the beach.
