Kalamaki is quite a good resort which is by far the nicer resort than Laganas (which is like Blackpool on a bad day).
The Kalamaki beach is nice (pedalos are quite expensive at 10 euros per hour) but sun beds are 7 euros for the whole day which is quite good. The restaurants are generally good though it is worth hiring a bike/quad/moped locally and touring the island - lots of gorgeous restaurants looking over the sea. One in particular (best restaurant and best food in the whole island) is the Piano bar on road from Zante Town to Argasi which overlook the sea and Zante town - definitely worth a visit!
Kalamaki is in danger of joining the over commercialised resort feel of Laganas which would be a shame as we don't need anymore 'Laganas style' resorts!

Kalamaki is a lovely quiet place for couples and families. Clean beach and the water is so blue! Loved every minute of our two visits to the Island. One the highlights are the Turtles who swim into the area (but not too close!)

The resort Kalamaki is a beautiful resort. Set in true Greek mountain surroundings. The beach was completely clean and the sea crystal. However there is a beach umbrella restriction beacause of endangered logger head turtles. Iwould recommend the bar mermaids for its entertainment nights. Escape for its good quality food(even though its rather under staffed. Paulos for its gorgeus lamb served in an earthenware pot
