We stayed half board but the menu was so bad and the quality of food bad we decided to eat out every night. The breakfast was basic just like the evening meal and not worth getting out of bed for! However, many did eat in the hotel (probably due to budget?) The hotel was relatively clean; the location was the best, only a short walk to be ripped of at the bars and restaurants! The staff at the hotel was not over friendly and the entertainment was limited to a TV room & a terrace. If it is a good located hotel near the centre, average food and a relatively clean hotel with grumpy staff then this is for you. We would not stay here again.

Central location which is perfect for the beach, shops also often the first pickup for the tours, you get a good seat on the coach especially when you drive the Amafi coast.
Hotel a little noisey at night, car and engine noise but you get use to it, we upgraded for a bacolony which we didn't use as it wasn't necessary so bear in mind as you can't see the sea from the hotel and the views tend to be other hotels and buildings so save the your money.
Would visit again, Sorrento is soooo beautiful.

We are sisters that came to Sorrento to visit our grandmothers home. We had the best holiday ever.
The hotel is located on a road which does get busy and noisy but that is part of the scene and the shutters do block the noise and the hot sun.
The food was second rate but they will cater to requests.
The staff are the friendliest staff i have ever come across. Very accommodating and full of advice and tips for a great trip. Very professional and cant do enough for you. Exceptionally clean, friendly environment and pleasant pool, bar area and sun roof.
No entertainment except TV room. Ideal location for access to town, bars, square. Very safe at night and pleasant local people. Hire a vespa and visit the coast line - Highly recommend, cant wait to return

We stayed half board the food and the service was excellent. The Hotel was very clean the rooms cleaned every morning and the staff where very helpful and friendly. The food menu was very good if you did not like what was been served they would be something else for you.
A nice pool area and the roof top on the 4th floor was excellent we spent every afternoon up there and the veiws are fantastic.
A bit noisy because it is located on the main road in the middle of Sorrento but this did not bother us.
I would recommend this hotel and we will be going back to Sorrento again next year. And yes I would stay at the Ascot again.

We found the staff at the hotel very pleasant and helpful.
The bedroom was cleaned and tidied every day.
The food was very good, with an alternative if you did not fancy the menu of the day.
All areas in the hotel were clean and pleasant. The location was ideal for us, as bus stops were nearby, to the piazza and train station.

I have to disagree with the other reviews. We have just got back from 3 days in this hotel, and believe me, this was enough. Had we been booked there any longer we would have checked out, but as it was only 3 days, put up with it.
The good things...plenty of sunbathing room, there is an additional large terrace on the 7th floor, although nobody bothered to tell us, we found it by accident.
Excellent location, could not be handier for central Sorrento.
Unfortunately, there were too many bad points to warrant going there again. The main problem was with the room, which was on the ground floor. This would not normally have bothered us, but it soon became apparent that the room got no sunshine at all, and the room was very damp and dark as a result. Towels that we hung outside on the balcony to dry were still wet 3 days later.
There was damp on the walls, our clothes in the wardrobe felt damp, and worst of all was getting into a clammy feeling bed. It reminded me of an extremely poor student house I used to live in, never again!
ALso, one more thing, the walls are paper thin, and I mean paper thin. We could hear the man next door snoring, and every word of someones conversation!
It also suffers from really bad traffic noise. Although this is not the fault of the hotel, it was annoying none the less to hear car horns and scooters all through the night!
We finished our break more tired than we arrived thanks to this hotel, and I would not go back.
We did mention the damp problem to the lady on reception, but she was not interested.
I personally think there are far better hotels for the price.

Stayed at hotel Ascot in Sorrento,although late in season, hotel was nearly full. Did not hear one complaint.
Twin room with balcony,cleaned and serviced to a high standard daily.food traditional italian, very well balanced,and to a high standard.
Hotel staff very attentive,always at your table at the right time. Being late in season, no entertainment,but an excellent bar. Having spent 17 years living in hotels in UK and Europe through work, I think I know a thing or two about hotels, and the hotel Ascot should be at least a 4 star rating.
For location,comfort, and welcome we will stay there again, and reccomend it to anybody
