Just back from a week at the Petit Palais. Unfortunately, I booked this hotel package before reading the reviews on other sites and I want a good kicking!! (Before your read on, this review is based upon what I experienced last week (29 Mar - 5 Apr) at the Petit Palais and I am someone who has skied around the world for the last 20 years and have experienced self catering right up to 5* luxury hotels.)
Quick Review:
Not a 4* Hotel. Poor levels of customer service. Sewer smell in the dining room. Small rooms with ensuite bathroom. Food adequate with poor selection at breakfast. Tommy/Ben good behind bar. Close to main gondola.

This hotel is run by Crystal staff who are not professional hoteliers but they tried hard to keep the standards up. The food was nothing special and the best thing you could say about the free wine was that it was free. We may have been unlucky in that our rooms would have been better used as storage rooms. They were below ground level at the back and therefore had no view from the very small windows. Afternoon tea was good and the bar was well run. The hotel is situated not far from and above the cable car so it was an easy stroll in the morning. It was also possible to ski pretty close to the hotel at the end of the day.
