The hotel is generally good. We took a 2 year old and a 5 month old. Our 2 year old loved the creche but unfortunately they only take them from 1 year old so our youngest missed out.

The pools are fun but not enough barriers to prevent little ones running off. The lower pool(at the front of the hotel with the water features) is very near the running track with its steep steps and our 2 year old ran in that direction every time. Also, the pools are very cold so little ones tend to moan - try the indoor pool occasionally to let the get rid of some steam as this is a lot warmer with a nice jaccuzzi in the corner.

The rooms are very clean. The only prblem we had here is that the door could be unlocked from the inside by merely pulling the handle hence our 2 year old found it very easy to escape.

Location was not a problem if you like queing for taxis. As we went off peak we never had more than 2 or 3 people waiting in fornt of us (you pay reception 1 Euro to book one for you and they give you the taxi's registered number). I'd have hated this if we went peak - apparently it was a nightmare early August. You could try walking but it was a very hilly mile and a half or so to 'the strip' which is hard with 2 pushchairs.

Our 2 year old loved the kids evening discos and party games. He made many friends to play with.

All in all a good holiday and worth the money spent but I would not go back.

We really liked the hotel.

It was lovely and modern and clean. The Swimming Pools on both sides of the hotel were excellent and the bar and restaurant areas were lovely. There was a little supermarket within the hotel which had a good range of goods. Lovely fresh bread rolls every day.

The staff were excellent. We mislaid our camera one night having left it in the taxi that had brought us back from the old town, my husband went to the reception and they helped us to get it back within an hour.

The only let down is the distance of the hotel from the resort itself. Taxis are easy to find and not to expensive but it does become a bit of a drag having to get a taxi all the time.

Beautiful complex. Extremely spacious apartments, tastefully decorated and large balcony.

We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool and sea in the distance.

Large, clean pool and smaller childrens pool, 2 football pitch (allweather and atro turf, tennis courts at the back of the complex. Entertainment during the day was very good for the children, although not too good in the evenings, but the reps tried their best. We ate out each evening.

The 'strip' is about a 20 minute walk, full of restaurants and bars, but we preferred the old town of Albuferia, which takes about 10 minutes in a taxi. Order these at reception and they will give you a number, bit like the deli at ASDA! When we were there, we found you had to order around 7.30 - 8.00 pm or you could be waiting a while.

Beautiful old town, with some lovely bars, restaurants and shops and street stalls plus a beautiful large beach with pedaloes for hire. Avoid at weekends if at all possible, getting a taxi back is a nightmare if you leave after 10.30 pm. You'll be queueing with around 50 other people! Although there is a roadtrain which takes you to the strip and you can then walk the rest of the way back to the apartments, stopping for a drink on the way if you wish!

If you leave the apartments and turn left when you reach the main road (opposite way to the strip) and walk for about 10 minutes, theres a few restaurants which are very reasonably priced and serve excellent food. We visited 'Tiffanys' several times and also the 'Three Marias'.

We preferred Tiffanys, owned by a lovely lady. Plus a pool table so the children don't get bored whilst waiting for their food.

The good thing about these resaurants is that not many people seem to know about them as they are not on the main route, so you never have to wait long for a table.

We also got a bus to Villamoura for the day, not overly impressed, a marina but thats about all, much prefer Albuferia, lots more character.

All in all, a lovely holiday, weather excellent, although a little breezy at night, as you're on the Atlantic Coast. By far the best apartments we have stayed in, and we've stayed in some good ones!

Only downside perhaps, is the location as if you don't want to be sat in a taxi each evening, its a fair walk to the strip. Wouldn't put us off returning though.

The hotel is very new and it shows in the excellent standard of the apartments, they are well designed and quite spacious.

The rooms are cleaned 6 days a week which can be frustrating if you want a lie in!

The on site restaurant is good but pricey compared to outside in the resort.

The location of the hotel is a little isolated and you need a car or taxi to get around, the taxis are fairly cheap but very difficult to get at peak times(be prepared to wait up to an hour).

The reps are very friendly and work hard, the pool areas are clean and child friendly especially the splash park at the front of the hotel.

The entertainment is typical of this kind of resort, dancers, a magician and a parrot show, but beware they are repeated weekly so two-week holidayers choose your nights in carefully.

I would certainly recommend this hotel to families our children aged 8,9 and 12 were hardly ever bored.

The hotel was very modern and clean with rooms being cleaned six days per week and towels changed daily.

We were lucky enough to have one of the few first floor rooms which had the huge balconies which was great for sunbathing on when my toddler had her afternoon nap!

We ate in the on site restaurant and although it was more expensive than other restaurants, the food was wonderful and the service excellent.

The reps and kids club staff were all great, my children loved the creche and club and were asking to go constantly!

We stayed around the smaller pool near the splash area (great fun!) as we found it less crowded and easier to get sunbeds!

The only downside about this holiday was the location of the hotel. If we wanted to eat out we either had a good 10 to 20 minute walk to the local restaurants or it was a taxi to Albufeira. We have a 5 and 2 year old so long walks meant moaning kids! Reception charge you one euro to call a taxi and one time, when they were ringing for another guest and we said "make that 2 taxis" we still got charged a euro!

Albufeira is a typical med holiday resort. Very busy, lots of bars and restaurants and tacky shops! All the food was of a very high standard and reasonably priced.

In summary, I would go here again but when my children were a little bit older and it would then be easier getting taxis and walking at night.

We had a 2 bed apt and it was fab. New and really clean.

Reps. were great and tried really hard and there were various things going on throughout the day.

The most important thing to be said about this hotel is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. Taxi situation is dire. My tip is if you dont want to walk to the strip head out early at about 6.30pm to avoid the rush or walk about 5 mins down to road to a lovely restaurant called Martins. Great food and great prices.

We had a great holiday at the Alto and would definetly return.

These apartments are lovely and clean and very large accomodation. The air-con was excellent we actually had to turn it off because it was so good.

The swimming pool area is very clean and well kept the pool is a little bit on the cold side but quite bearable when it is so hot.

Very nice accomodation staff very helpful only minus point is the location. The golf resort next door has a nice restaurant and Tiffany's a 15min walk up the road were very good. The food at the accomodation is a bit limited.
Great holiday the best accomodation we have stayed at over the years. our children had a great time 10yrs and 7yrs very well laid out for families and we all loved the indoor pool facilities. The splash park area is really great for children.
