What a fantastic time we had at the astoria playa hotel.
The food was fantastic, such a great selection and cooked to perfection. George the restaurant manager is strict but has a great sense of humour. No shorts in the restaurant and you cannot take drinks in with you. You will be allocated your table at the start of the holiday, we had to share ours but not a problem as we could eat at different times if we wanted to.
The rooms are clean with air conditioning but no tv or music.
The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The bar manager valentin, is an amazing person, so funny and friendly as are all the bar staff.
The animation team, mark and malin work away all day and night, some of their shows are a bit tongue in cheek but you have to hand it to them as far as the hours they work.
Cabaret nights were very good.
We had an excellent holiday and will return.
Just cannot wait to watch valentin dance again!!!!!!
Only problem was that there were not enough sun beds and the pool is quite small, you have to queue up for sun beds at 9.00am and if you leave them for more than 45 mins, you towels will be removed, needless to say there is a mad rush in the mornings but the beach is just across the main road, i advise you to leave the hotel by the side gate and use the crossing just on your right as the road is quite busy and dangerous to cross.
That was the only draw back, the sea is lovely and warm but watch out for the jelly fish as several people were hurt by them. You can also cut through the hotel iberostar to get to the beach.
You will have a fantastic holiday and the drinks at the hotel bar and the snacks are cheaper than outside.
If you need to cool down, go to the tv lounge as the air conditioning in there is fantastic!!!!
We cannot wait to return!!!

Stayed here in September 2003 and returned May 2004. Good hotel in great location a block away from beach. Food was good. Always managed to find something. Have to table share if you are a couple but didn't find this a problem the people we sat with were great. You get a table at the start of holiday and that is yours for the duration. Which is great as you know exactly where to go on entering dining room. You may never see the other people at your table if you prefer to eat at a different time to them. Restaurant closes at 9pm, which is early by our standards and we were often some of the last people out of there, but there was no real pressure to get you out.
If you arrive after restaurant is closed there is a cold buffet laid on for all late arrivals which is great.
Pool area very small but because you are so near beach it doesn't matter.
Rooms clean and ample size. No tv though or piped music so is very quiet unless you have your own music. Only one socket and its in the bathroom.
Next to main road which caused some noise but never bothered us. Good views from high floors.
Shops bars etc in streets around hotel. Street with all the busy bars just a block away. Found hotel prices for drink to be cheaper that most of the other bars around.
New entertainment team this year, a young couple and they were working their socks off! Always organising daytime activities from aerobics to darts and rifle shooing etc. We had a couple of professional entertainers during the week. Quiz night and caberet which we caught the end off and it seemed great.
All in all a great hotel. Nothing fancy but staff excellent. Very friendly. Would go back again in a minute.

Had a brilliant time at the Astoria Playa. Staff were very helpful and pleasant - especially George in the dining room and the blonde lady who served in the bar. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was good and varied. The entertainment was superb. The only draw back was there was not enough room around the pool but this did not really matter as we went to the beach most days. Would go back to this hotel in a shot.
