Comfortable, convenient and close to the action are how you describe the Safari Apartments. Lots of sports facilities will keep you busy and active, while the beach is close by for a change of scenery.

What a great hotel!

Booked last minute so had no idea what we were in for but we scored top marks on landing a room at the Safari Park.

Staff were very friendy, they spoke a decent amount of English and were very helpful. We ate in the restaurant once and was disappointed of there being not much choice from the buffet but there were other themed nights which are probably better.

The room was very clean and we had a nice big balcony which overlooked the pool. The air con was excellent.

All in all, loved it. 4 star standard all the way.

Had previously stayed twice at Vista Badia across the road (another in the Protur group of hotels). We only chose the Safari this time as it was considerably cheaper through Portland, and fact much preferred it. The apartments are slightly bigger than the Vista Badia and are very spacious for 3 people. BBC, ITV CNN and Cartoon Network on the TV. Air conditioning very good but you need to keep a card in the slot to keep mains on in room. At the top of the complex is a childrens play park including waterslide & freefrom paddling pool, trampolines, wooden fort, climbing areas and eletric cars (1 euro for 2 mins). This is free to Protur guests only and is great for younger kids. We spent an hour or two there each day with our 5 year old. Entertainment is ok, the Germans love it. All unattended towels are removed from sunbeds before 9 am. which proved a really good system. I took towels down at approx. 8.30 with the pick of 90% of the sunbeds, read a paper for half an hour and then left to return later. When not at the beach we spent a lot of time around the Water polo pool which was far less crowded than the other poolside areas. About 80% of the guests are German which is ok, but they can be a bit arrogant. I would highly recommend these apartments, but make sure you book through Portland.

When we first arrived my wife said to me " Are we in the right place here " she was speechless and thats not very often. We had just walked into the reception area.

Having checked in and with my wife still speechless we headed for our room, passed the internet cafe.

Our room was spacious , two twin beds and two sofa's in the lounge area. We had a ground floor room just tucked away from the large swimming pools, overlooking the gardens
Maid service was second to none.

Cleanliness was second to none.

To be honest it was the best summer holiday hotel we have stayed in.

Reps were very helpful and even arranged car hire for us
Large car park outside, so no worries wondering where to park.

Didn't see my kids for 2 weeks so we will be coming back here soon.
Overall Fantastic

We stayed in the Safari for the first time last summer and must say that it was probably one of the best holidays we ever had, even having been to Florida for our previous 3 holidays!

The hotel is set out very well and spread over large grounds with a lovely large swimming pool in the centre. There is a nice entertainment area with excellent bar service.

The hotel and rooms were very clean and spacious. A lovely big relaxing reception area with comfy sofas and an internet corner.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful as was our rep, Ben.

The entertainment was quite good most evenings, especially the professional acts. We British were definitely outnumbered by Germans and Dutch, but it didn't bother us at all.

The hotel was very well located for the beach and shops, restaurants etc., the best place to eat is The Kings Head and the worst is El Salvador, where we waited for sausage and chips for over an hour and when we enquired how much longer it would be, the waiter became very abusive and we left. For the rest of our holiday we had to endure abusive comments and pointing and staring every time we passed there. We recommend you avoid this restaurant!!

Other people to be wary of women on the street asking if they can do a questionnaire and then telling you that you've won a very expensive gift (the only one on the island that month) like hell! Everyone they stop is told the same thing! They will try to put you in a taxi to go and collect your gift and it is all a scam and a day of your holiday wasted!

Anyway, apart from that, it is a fabulous place, a fabulous hotel and we will definitely be going back next year.

The only other thing we can say is that it has been a very expensive holiday for us, as our son met a German girl out there and we've had to pay for him to go to Germany to see her since!! So next year we are taking a blindfold for our daughter in case the same thing happens again!!!!!!!!!!

Just returmed from a holiday at the safari park aparthotel and it was great the hotel was very clean and so were the rooms the maid service was excellent there was a supermarket across the road and a hypermarket around the corner so you didnt have to go far the staff were very friendly but none were british and i found being outnumbered 10 to 1 by Germans a bit awkward but it didnt spoil the holiday , the range of bars and restaurants were fantastic i recommend JJ's for fantastic british food
but i found if you wanted better nightlife you had to go into Cala millor, overall i couldnt recommend this hotel any higher and sa coma is great i hope to visit again some day !!!!!!!!!

We've just returned from 11 days self catering at the Safari Park in Sa Coma (28/08/03), 2 adults, 2 kids:-15 & 10.

The rep, Ally (Thompsons) is very friendly & helpful but not at all pushy. If you want excursions etc, he'll provide them but after telling you what's available at the welcoming meeting, if you don't ask, he doesn't try to push you into anything. Just how a rep should be to my way of thinking.

We couldn't fault it, maid service every day except Tues & Sun, with clean towels every day if required, liquid soap & shower gel provided and the most powerful shower I've come across in a hotel for a long time.
The exterior paths etc are also washed & brushed every day.

We were on 3rd floor about halfway along left side looking over the entertainment/pool areas.
The lifts from reception are busy & work differently to UK. If lift is on floor below you, it will go straight past your floor, if someone in it is going to floor above you! It will only stop at your floor on way down, so get in and go down first otherwise it may go straight past your floor again if someone else gets in to go above you!
There are more lifts halfway along both sides of building and these are much less busy. They are also nearer to bars & pool, so if you're going down to these areas, walk along floor to these lifts, it will be quicker!

1 bedroom apartments have large bedroom with dressing table & large mirror, 2 sofa beds in living area, 2 large wardrobes with plenty of shelving, T.V. with BBC1, ITV1, Eurosport in English, air conditioning with thermostats in main living area & in bedroom too, toaster, full sized fridge, 2 electric rings.

Electricity is controlled by putting card key in slot on wall but this means that when you go out, the air con & sockets go off so you can't come back to a cool room or leave batteries re-charging etc. Well that's what they mean to happen!
Take a supermarket loyalty card, or any similar credit card sized plastic card, put this in card key slot & leave in slot when you leave room. Come back to a cool room & charged batteries! The maids don't seem to notice (or turn a blind eye).
Also, the air con is controlled by magnetic switches on balcony door & bedroom window. If door/window open, air con goes off.
If you want to leave balcony door open with air con on, take a small flat bladed screwdriver & unscrew the magnet part on the moving part of door/window & place magnet against the fixed part of switch. It will stick there & air con stays on no matter whether door/window is open or shut.

With the sunbeds, a hotel staff member goes round at about 08:45 every morning, takes any towels off sunbeds with no one there & folds them up & puts them in a pile. This gives everyone a fair chance of getting a sunbed without having to get up at the crack of dawn!! There's a bit of a rush at 09:00 of course!
The sunbeds are ridiculously tightly packed together & as close to the edge of the pool they could be! If you don't mind being splashed by people jumping & playing in the pool, by all means have one of these beds, otherwise take a row further back!

Particularly for kids (and Germans) there are 3 table tenniss tables & 2 pool tables outside around the entertainment area. Pool costs 1Euro a game & table tenniss is free but you need your own bats & balls. A set with 2 bats & 3 balls can be bought from Spar opposite main entrance to hotel for 3.95Euro, worth it to keep kids happy for a few hours, and you can show them how good you used to be in your youth!!!

The entertainment is quite good considering the Animation crew are Dutch or Danish and announce things in 3 languages.
The kids shows are done like this and the best bit we thought was when they played "The Music Man", which obviously finishes with Dambusters theme, and seeing loads of Germans imitating aeroplanes!!
The main shows did use english speaking entertainers. 2 in particular we liked:- The 4 Tops & Soul Shakers but then we're old enough to like Soul music!!

The Golf Paradis is a 3 x 18 hole mini golf complex which is part of the hotel complex & tickets can be obtained from the rep at reduced rate compared to over the counter (approx 21 Euros for 3 adults & 1 child for all 3 courses). You can play 1 course at a time, leave the score cards behind the bar and return another day to play one of the other courses. It was open until 11:30 at night when we were there. If you've got kids, take a bit of bread for them to feed the fish (big carp) and ducks in the streams around the courses.

We didn't try the restaurant on site at all. There are quite a few places to eat outside the complex, most british style pubs. Of these J.J's & The British Baron can be recommended for wholesome food with a fair choice & friendly service.

Beware the pineapple/melon sellers on the beach. One woman in particular offers small pieces to taste & you only have to nod your head and she's cut a slice for you & wants 2 Euros for it. Refuse to take it & pay & she starts shouting agressively & pushing it onto you. She'll eventually give up but returns later, especially if there's someone else now with you. She tries this on with kids a lot. The others just go away if you say no.

For anyone going to Aquacity, the leaflets in the hotel say no picnics or drinks allowed. This is not the case, the leaflets there only say no glass or tins so take food & drink if you want.

We'll definitely go there again. This hotel is part of the Protur group who have their own website at www.protur-hotels.com

Recently returned from 11 days at this Aparthotel. Was OK but wouldn't choose to return, avoid rooms at the end of the block - we had to be moved because of smells from toilet. Maid service not very thorough. Ate in hotel twice - disappointing selection, and not very hot - definitely geared towards German/Dutch tastes. Majority of guests are German/Dutch. Few bars/restaurants outside - would highly recommend the 'Salvator' Restaurant; good food, excellent prices and very friendly staff. Sa Coma itself not very interesting but local buses very good and convenient - take the open-top to S'Illot for a quiet day at the beach or to Cala Bonna for a nice day out. Took bus to Porta Pollensa, an hour and a half but well worth it.

The best holiday ever. The pools were enormous with plenty of sunbeds. The complex was immaculate and very modern. Located next to a 54 hole mini golf course and driving range. The town is close by and is very quiet. There are many different restuarants but not many traditional Spanish ones. I would recommend the Only Fools and Horses pub which may look uninspiring from the outside but serves excellent food. The beach is about a ten minute walk away but is worth the effort. Hope to go back there soon.
