Lord above...where do I start...
I can only sum up the Sun Beach Apts with one word - KIP. Pool was filthy, about 50 sunbeds out of 70 were broken, rooms were INFESTED with cockroaches/ants, staff weren't helpful at ALL in trying to get rid of them. Couldn't use the plates or anything because of them, as a result we had to eat out every night. We asked to be moved after only 8 hours - we were woken at half past 3 in the morning by an all-our WAR outside in the complex, I was ashamed to call myself Irish after the way they carried on. Couldn't walk to our apartment from the lifts because of people throwing plates/glasses/bottles etc. I'm 20 and went with 4 other girls, and was looking for a lively holiday but when there are apartment parties going on at 6 in the morning, it gets a bit too much, finding used condoms on your balcony in the morning is fairly disgusting. I felt TERRIBLE for the families with kids that were there, they were literally crying to come home. We complained to the receptionist (who is probably the rudist woman on the planet) and our rep about the parties going on into the early hours and her answer was 'what do you want me to do about it?' Great assistance, I have to say.
The location is bang in the centre of Santa Ponsa, you can literally roll out of bed and onto the beach, so no complaints there. I've stayed in Santa Ponsa before and had a fab time, much prefer the Verdemar. PLEASE PLEASE don't stay at the Sun Beach, the place needs to be burnt down or something, it's a dive.

Just back from Santa Ponsa last night and really enjoyed my stay. I know that these apartments have had bad write ups in the past. However I can honestly say that I found these apartments fine, basic, small pool and bar but they were very clean and the maid visited everyday with clean towels etc.
The location of the apartments was brilliant turn left and you are straight at the Irish pubs etc. We spent most of our days at the beach or pool then paid a visit to Daniels Corner for a quick afternoon refresher and game of pool. Girl who works behind the bar is excellent and really friendly. Spent most of our nights in Seans Place, really brilliant night and brilliant atmosphere. The two guys Mickey and Danny (I think) were brilliant singers and hosts for the evening. Turn left and you can have a nice stroll to the square and straight on takes you directly to the beach.
As we went off peak at the start of May I can only tell you that I thought the apartments were great and quite quiet. However I know that this is a different story come end of May through to July when they are jumping with young people. So please remember this when booking. Also try to get apartments on the 4-9 floor, as the other foors will be noisy.
Also great places to eat we went to Crocodillos, Grannys, La Pergola, Hong Kong Chinese, Dutchie Cafe, Murphies Irish Kitchen and the Glasgow Bar and I can honestly say I didnt have a bad meal in any of these, enjoyed every meal. However if you want something a bit different, funky and classy definately try crocodillos, presentation in this restaurant is impressive.

The hotel is very substandard and not at all appropriate for families. It is full of drunken teenagers. Fair enough they are probably just enjoying themselves but for children to be subjected to drunken loutish behaviour in this hotel isn't appropriate.
We didn't book this accomodation but booked the Plaza Santa Ponsa which double booked but lied stating that there was a sewage leek however would not show us the room
The lifts were broken there is no air conditioning so be prepared to be very hot and sticky .
I wouldn't recommend these apartments to my worst enemy.
It is the worst place I have ever stayed in my life .

The Sun Beach apartments are a perfect location for young couples/groups. We were right in the centre of the resort, within walking distance from all restaurants, pubs and the beach. The apartment was extremely clean and comfortable and we had a lovely view of the whole resort from the balcony. We did not have to deal with the Hotel staff much but from what little contact I had with them they all seemed extremely friendly and accomodating.
The Sun Beach bar was small and cosy and they showed a film on DVD every evening. We popped in most evenings after returning from the beach and sat to watch the film. The bar staff were very friendly and always had a few card tricks to show!! We went to a karaoke night in the bar which was very entertaining.
Because of it's location, I would not recommend these apartments to families with small children for the simple reason that it can get noisy at night.
Overall, we were very happy with our stay!

Sun Beach apartments are in the best location in santa ponsa. they are in the middle of the resort with all pubs, nightclubs, shops and the beach close at hand. the hotel itself is of a good standard apart from the lack of air conditioning but fans are available from reception at a resasonable price. the 24 hour reception is a great service for security purposes. these apartments are more likely suited to young people rather than families etc. due to a certain noise level at night as it id located in the heart of the resort but is great for teenagers and groups of young people.
