A brilliant base for a holiday with a car in Menorca I believe.
Very tranquil - no beach but many within a short drive.
3 or 4 restaurants - the best being Asia - highly recommended to all in Menorca.
Nice bakery.
Evening entertainment in the San Luis hotel if you want it
A lovely tranquil resort which is always a great place to return to following a day out in the car etc.

S'Algar is exceptionally clean and tidy. Entertainment was centred around the San Luis Hotel, though the Hotel S'Algar also had some music at night. Not very much going on in resort - no carnival type rides, etc.
It is a very quiet relaxing place, with little shops and only a few restaurants. If you are looking for a hectic busy time - it is not for you.
The resort has no beach though there is a lido on the front which is very nice.
Mahon is 1.15 euro by bus if you miss the shops and there is a bus service to Punta Prima beach which costs 2 Euros from San Luis Hotel. I think this was available from other accommodation within the resort. If you wish you can walk round the headline (over rocky ground) through Alcafaur to Punta Prima - takes just over an hour.

S'algar is a pretty little village and you can pretty much walk into any of the 3 hotels and use their facilities. Local restuarant food is fine, sometimes a little plain and unimaginative. It is a small resort so choice is restricted and evening entertainment very limited. If we were staying for two weeks we would have made the effort to go into Mahon to do our shopping as the local shops in the resort are very expensive. Overall?: spotless clean, very quiet, friendly, nice pools, relaxed atmosphere.
Next year we will probably go back to Menorca, but as the kids will be that bit older, we will probably go for a bigger resort on top of a good beach

There is a beach 20min away but we did not go there. There are shops about 5min walk away which are supermarkets, Bakery, Souvenier shops and Resturants. There is also a train that takes you around the Resort which comes every 20min. There is a bus that comes to go to Mahon every hour.

Excellent resort, have visited many times over the years. The whole of S'Algar is kept spotlessly clean, no yobbos, an ideal family resort for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.
In the centre of resort a few shops, bars and restaurants, superb swimming pool on the front, rocky bathing, no beach.
The resort is mainly villas and apartments. You can walk round S'Algar easily in less than an hour.
S'Algar has one of the best diving schools in Menorca, next to swimming pool on front by rocks.
There are two hotels in S'Algar, the S'Algar hotel, two storey building, good location, superb pool, with separate sunbathing area for hotel guests. I would suggest more suitable for couples. The San Luis hotel, 4/5 storeys high, more suited to families, good pool, snack bar adjacent to pool, shop. Lots of entertainment, day and evening. Shows outside in evenings on terrace. There is a late opening Kareoke bar in the resort.

If you like beaches and loud bars don't come here.
If you like sporting activities, quiet and clean resorts with good pool facilities this resort is excellent.
