We arrived the last week in July for two weeks.

We found the cleanliness was disgusting, I had to clean a fan in our room as it had so much dust in it there was no air coming out, and there was no routine with regards to cleaning the room. Some days they would, other days they wouldn't.

The TV did not get a reception so after paying for it was useless.

The food in the hotel looked to be leftovers from previous nights and reheated, which was always cold.

Location was good close to the beach and town.

Staff were friendly until you complained.

The pool was very and I mean poorly maintained the pumps weren't working properly it was even dirty after they had cleaned it in the morning. Everyone we spoke to had had or was ill with upset stomachs or ear infections which when advised by a GP said comes from the pool. Not even the swimming teacher would swim in it. There are no slip mats around the pool. If you want a sun lounger you have to be up at 0730 to reserve them or they all go.

When you complained to the First Choice reps they fobbed you off saying the pool was ok but even if it wasn't they couldn't close it because of complaints.

The pool side area was too small for the amount of villas.

Entertainment was good but the cr

Won't go into too much detail as my earlier comments below are still relevant but on our return visit Neil and Zoe had left and been replaced by Cuddy. He was okay and the kids liked him but was a little too 'adult' at times.

The food is still great and most of the old staff still remained. No real complaints still had a good time and would return, but watch that you are not short changed or given short measures in the bar as this was happening for the fortnight we were there.

Yes, Club Caleta is a great complex it is very clean and well looked after, the staff are very helpful and the entertainers Neil and Zoe are great what we got to see of them!

Now for the moan, the pool is nice but it is not children friendly it is far to deep, we couldn't even spend much time in there entertaining them as even though we are good swimmers we couldn't even touch the floor, my boy who is nearly nine can swim fairly good but we would not let him go in without any arm bands for the fact it was to deep if he was to tire he'd have no chance, he was not amused in having to were the armbands and we had a constant battle with him, we ended up abandoning the pool for the beach every day.

The entertainment, we only saw two evening slots as the room is far to small and cramped with the weather also been very hot in the evening you could not breath in there even Neil and Zoe was telling people to complain when they got back home, there were only 2 standing fans one at each end of the room to keep it cool, "NOT"

I was really disappointed as were the kids as there seemed to be some good entertainment in there most nights and we missed most of it.

The kids club, well thats a laugh also, whether it was just our bad luck I don't know, They hardly did anything only colouring most of the time, when it was out good you had to pay something like 4 or 7 euros.

My girl is 6 my boy is 8 going on 18 he was looking forward to being in the next age group with the older ones doing sports etc. Fat chance the first week they said that there wasn't many in his group so they mixed the 7-11 with the younger ones. I found out the second week off a couple there that they was putting the older ones in groups with the little ones to look after them and entertain them drawing etc, sorry but he was there to enjoy himself not to baby sit and get away from his sister! I complained and never took them to the clubs the last week and I am writing to First Choice to ask them how they can advertise this place as a Family Plus holiday when you can't let the little ones in the pool unsupervised, can't see the entertainment as its to cramped and hot and they get the older kids in the club to look after the little ones

It is a shame because the actual complex as I said is really nice the rooms are clean and quite comfortable anyone without kids or young ones will have a great time or saying that maybe we just had bad luck!

I have just returned from the villas for the second time (after in 1998) and it was absolutely super. The reps and kiddie reps were very good. The pool was great and so was the food that they served at the bar. The location is perfect for us, because it is a five-min walk to the beach and also another 5-min walk to Hipo Park, a great fun place for kids.

There were two main people on this holiday who stood out the most which were the hotel entertainers, Neil & Zo

Just returned (March 2002) and had a fabulous time, the accommodation was basic but clean, towels were a little shabby but changed regularly. The pool was clean and a good size -if not a little cold, but that's the Canaries in March for you. The surroundings at the complex were well tended and mainly consisted of mature palm trees and hanging plants on the terraces of the bungalow apartments.

The food in the restaurant was excellent and we all managed to pile on weight, my friend's children are much pickier than my greedy lot but still didn't go hungry as there was always something for everyone on offer. The complex is well situated and there are lots of shops selling the essentials - and a little more- close by, the beach is within a short stroll, really I couldn't recommend it higher, oh but if you do have problems with your hot water, as we did on our first day, make sure that it is plugged in on the outside of the building (I know a plug fitted outside the house, seems a bit dodgy to me too) as it will save you some embarrassment.

The entertainers at the complex (Zoe and Neil) were wonderful, they worked tirelessly to encourage you to join in without making you feel on the the spot. I was amazed at my usually shy children's willingness to join in all the kids activities both at the mini disco and at the kids club as well as my husband's loss of inhibitions that led to him allowing the entertainers to dress him as a woman and attempt karaoke!

Anyway if you stay at these apartments I recommend going half board and living it up for a week of two, we enjoyed it so much that we've convinced half the family to join us there next March!
