Our THIRD visit to this beautiful friendly yet luxurious hotel set in beautiful surroundings. This time we coaxed our two (adult) kids to join us, along with their partners. One duo travelled from 80 miles outside New York USA and the other from Southern California. They ALL agreed it was much better than what the States has to offer for V.F.M. and friendliness by a superbly efficient staff supplying quality service, ALWAYS with a smile. NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER WITH KIDS.

Our son and his wife had recently been on a Mexican cruise and favoured the Taurito Princess to that !!!!! Food not quite as good as in the past, PLUS the entertainent quality seems to be suffering. Come on folks, don't let your regular guests down.

We seen too many places go down for the sake of trying to save a few Euros here and there. Remember US the GUESTS pay YOUR wages right?

However, beautful grounds to bask in the sun. FREE coach travel to Mogan, Puerto Rica and as far as Maspalomas. beat that for generous!!!!!

You gottta try it to live it !

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Taurito Princess, Gran Canaria.
And after reading all the positive reviews before going we were so excited.
But one thing spoilt our holiday which i feel is important to mention to everyone who is considering going there in next few weeks especially..

The hotel had a stomach bug outbreak, more than 60 people were affected including myself. It

Just returned from an AI holiday here, have to say that we left disappointed. Thank God the weather was fantasic!

First, there is no way this is a 4* hotel. Its a slightly above standard 3* needing an update on decor and furnishings. Photos definately make the hotel look fresher than it really is. There was a mixture of people here, from young familys letting their kids run riot to older couples trying to find a quiet time.

Entrance is ok, reception staff helpful. There are only 3 lifts (although they are very panoramic which is great so long as you dont suffer from vertigo) for 11 floors which means expect to wait unless you want to walk the stairs. As we have a wheelchair this was not much of an option.

Rooms are basic, a small for a family of 3. The 3rd bed is a camp bed which had dodgey legs which kept breaking off. Good size balcony, great views across the bay. Bath with shower over. Balcony lights go out at 11pm, so if you fancy a night in it ends at 11.

There are 2 pools, one of which is heated during winter, and a toddler pool. The pool area is possibly the best feature of the hotel, although be warned to place your towel down before 10.30 or you have no sun lounger near the pool.

The bar staff were good, as were the restaurant staff. Long pants only in the restaurant for evening meal.

The food was average. On arrival the rep informed us that this hotel had won awards for the food. We found it mediocre and repetitive. On AI holidays you expect some repetition, but from dinner to lunch only 4 dishes where different. And make sure the chicken is cooked as mine bled. Deserts always the same, ok but nothing to write home about.

Entertainment was the usual holiday stuff. Seating in the Princes bar is uncomfortable.

The resort is small but has a nice black sand beach. Excellent for children with some water sports. Its about 6 euros to Mogan, 11 euro to Amadores and 14 euros to Peurto Rico by taxi. There is a water park in between the hotels in the resort. 9 euro entry, although as it isnt heated we didnt use it at this time of year. No loud bars, one restaurant and a few shops.

In summary, we wont be going back. Very expensive for an average hotel with good staff.

This is our second stay at the Taurito Princess. The first stay was a Pricebreaker offer where we could of stayed at any one of 3 all inclusive hotels - we enjoyed it so much we chose to come back this time.

After reading a few reports we were slightly concerned that the hotel had slipped from it's high standards. Rest assured that the hotel was top notch and we will definately be going back at somepoint.

Food is OK throughout the day. There is always a wide offer, with a couple of chefs cooking fresh meat for lunch and dinner. There is a wide selection of buffet food on offer - with fresh salads. Breakfast has the chefs cooking bacon and eggs etc.

Bar service is good, you can get mostly whatever local drink you want as part of the all inclusive. You can choose to pay for the branded drinks, but after a few you'd be pushed to tell the difference. There are always a couple of staff on the bars, so you won't have to wait long to get served.

The rooms were spotless, made up every day and fresh towels every second day. If you want fresh towels every day just leave them on the floor. Air con was good, and cooled the room as required. There was a report that you had to pay for air con, but no one we spoke to had to pay.

Evening entertainment was ok - it's what you expect being on holiday. Fun and enjoyable. Some of it laughable.

The entire hotel was no smoking. A huge win from the last time we stayed here. There are a few cancer corners around if you desire.....

The lifts were all in good order, although you did have to wait a bit in peak times. The walk downstairs (7th floor we stayed) is ok, but the walk back up is a killer!!

There are a few wee tourist shops around the resort, and a spar under the hotel. Peurto Morgan is a couple of euro's away in a bus. Little fishing town with some bars etc. The Lido opposite the hotel seemed fairly busy - looked clean and tidy. We never went as the hotel as everything you need.

Weather was superb. Very warm and sunny (1st - 8th November). Was a relief when there was a bit of cloud to take shelter.

Was entertained on a few mornings when the pool attendant came good on the warnings that unoccupied towels on the loungers would be removed before 10am.

Lots of Brits in the hotel, quite a few Germans etc, but English was the main language.

All in all a great hotel. We got exactly what we wanted from our holiday - relaxing time sunbathing and reading.

We arrived at the hotel around midnight. The hotel was impressive from the outside and continued throughout. The reception staff had kept the restaurante & the bar open, which we were not expecting.

Our first morning we got up early to enjoy the sun, to get two beds beside the childrens pool, we later found out the reception had cleared peoples towels from the beds we were sat on so do not try and reserve a bed unless you are using it, this is how it should be.

The entertainment staff couldn't be friendlier we had our daughter aged four with us and although the kids club started at aged five, we were able to join in the games, provided one of us stayed with her.

It was a fantastic holiday. Will be returning.

Just got back from a week all inclusive at this hotel & want to go back. Will be visiting this hotel again soon. We had a fab time, weather was fantastic too.

The food is really nice, if you can't find something you like then there is something up with you....GENTLEMEN BE WARNED LONG PANTS ONLY FOR EVENING MEAL TIME.

Drinks were great they certainly didn't scrimp on the alcohol!

Hotel is beautiful, pool area is lovely, plenty of sun loungers but be warned they are very close together, you cannot reserve your beds before breakfast whch was good, if you do there are staff on hand to remove your property.

Evening entertainment isn't up to much at all, there is a seperate piano bar, where most people ended up anyway.

All in all it was great, if your looking for a nice quiet place to relax then this is it.

Will be booking to go back sometime soon.

This was our second visit to this hotel.

When we first went ten years ago it was not all inclusive, we loved the hotel then but we like to try alternative resorts and countries. After hearing excellent reports we decided to try the hotel again and wondered if it would live up to our expectations, especially now being all inclusive we need nt have worried the hotel is now even better.

The food is comparible to any first class restaurant and the service excellent.

The children aged 8 and 15 found lots of activities to do my little girl loved the mini mini club and made lots of friends.

We would visit again and would definately recommend this hotel for people with families.

Well I have just got back from the Taurito Princess Hotel last night, after 7 nights with my girlfriend.

This is a rather long review, but I think that it is quite descriptive, and I have added things that I think people may find helpful, as next time we go we will know how to make things even better, from trial and error.

On arrival we were both very impressed. It looks stunning from the outside, and because we arrived at night time all the lights were lit up, and we could see the glass lifts on the outside of the hotel were also lit up. It makes a great picture.

The Room
The hotel itself was very clean throughout, as were the rooms. The cleaners came in every day and did a great job. I did request a double bed, but they had pushed two single beds together, which was fine anyway. They didn't have many clothes hangers though, so I would definitely suggest you take your own.

The ones they did have were kinda weird (I won't try and explain), and could fall off easily. However it was obvious they were made like this so you cant take them home with you.

I was thrilled with the TV lol, because they had sky sports so I could watch some of the big football matches. The only other English channels though were news channels, the rest German (think). Although in my opinion you dont go on holiday to watch the TV!

The balcony had a great view, overlooking the pool and the sea. Quite comfy too, as I slept on it one night, so try not to drink too much.

The Food
If you arrive to the hotel late, which we did, the restaurant for evening meals will have closed away the buffet after 9.30pm. They had kindly put together a meal of cold foods, for us and another couple that had also arrived late. We were impressed with the restaurant when we went in, but the food was disgusting. It was a selection of cheeses I have never seen before, and cold slices of meat that I didn't even touch after the cheese. My girlfriend agreed, and we was really not looking forward to breakfast the next morning.

But we were very pleased at breakfast! (8.30am - 10.30am)They had a large selection, of hot and cold foods. Sausages (which were gorgeous), fried eggs, beans, fruit, fried bread and lots of other things that I wouldn't know the name of.

So if you arrive to the hotel late, and they offer you a cold prepared meal, by all means try it. It might be your taste, but if not dont worry at all. We figured it was just the waiters choice of foods, and not everyone has the same taste of course.

Dinner was great too, they had all sorts of foods so I will only name a few but they had chips every day, sausages, cooked meat, fish, huge selection of salad, selection of bread rolls. There was lots more fancy foods, but I wouldn't know the name of most, and to be honest we ate junk food for the week. Trial and error was the best way in my opinion.

Evening meals were also great, they have a menu out a few hours before outside the restaurant, stating the main meats/fish etc, and certain themed foods. But if you dont like them, you can always have chips sausage garlic bread salad or something similar. I can highly recommend the meat balls, a mix of pork and beef. They were gorgeous. The desserts were very nice also, with a selection of fruit, mouses, cakes and ice cream.

The burger bar beside the pool was open till about 6pm (this might not be exact but i think 6). They had burgers, hot dogs, chips, ice cream and served drinks too. Mainly fatty food there, but it was nice!

To sum up the food, I would say anyone who says there was nothing they liked, is so picky it is untrue. Drinks were also self service inside the restaurant buffet, wines, orange juice, beer, pop (cola, fanta etc).

The Staff
The staff at the hotel were simply amazing. I was impressed at how well most of them could speak English. They were all extremely polite, it seemed kind of odd at first when your not used to it, I think some of the English need to learn the same manners. The head waiter was very nice, always making sure everything was OK, and would ask about the holiday in general not just the food. The bar staff were great too.

If you want a pint of lager though, remember to ask for a beer. I asked for a pint of lager the first night, and he looked at me a little odd. The lager was called Estrella, never heard of it before, but it was nice.

If you are drinking spirits though be careful, and watch how much they put in. I dont know if its a Spanish thing, but they seem to give you a triple every time, very very strong, and you end up drunk on only a few.

The entertainment was OK, I won't say it was great because some nights weren't as good as others. At around 8.30 they had a mini disco, then a male and female singer at 9 until 9.30. They were quite good. Then at 10 o clock they had the nights entertainment show.

I wont go through each of them, as I've wrote alot as it is, but they had a group of singers on one night called the tramps, who were great. Really good singers, but great entertainers too and really got the audience involved.

There was a few other good groups of singers, along with a reptile show which was good, some kind of magician show which was OK, but in my opinion the worst entertainment show... was on the last night... drag queens. I was not impressed. Gay men running around in thongs was not on my agenda, but the women seemed to love it. I just went outside for half hour until they finished. Maybe I'm thick skinned and sensitive, I'm not sure.

To sum up the entertainment, it was quite good. It was definitely well organised. Just the last show wasn't for me, maybe you wouldn't mind though.

The pool / beach
The heated pool is nice, especially after lying in the sun for hours. But the unheated pool was absolutely freezing. There was a few people swimming in it though, but I think they must have had severe sun stroke and didn't know what they was doing, it was really cold.

The heated one was never crowded though, in-fact I don't think I ever saw more than 8 people in it at once. Mostly people were just sunbathing (the sunbeds were free of charge). It was very clean, none of the little insects you sometimes get in pools. How they control that I don't know, but there wasnt any.

The beach as you have probably read in other reviews is a dark burnt sand colour. But its still very nice. Lots of sunbeds (only 2euros for the day) and water sports such as pedal boats, jet skis, banana boats for hire available. The jet ski was 40 euros for 20 minutes, and the pedal boat 10 euros for one hour.

The sea was very clear, and not cold at all (and this is in January!). They had different coloured flags on the beach, to let swimmers know how dangerous the waves are: calm, caution, forbidden.

It was always a caution flag when we were there, but to be honest it was still quite calm, I gather they need to be quite safety cautious.

The Weather
Well the weather was fantastic! It was around 30 degrees on average through the week. The rep there told us that you cannot actually get a specific reading for this southern part of the island, because it is unpredictable, and usually around 6 degrees hotter than the rest of the island.

There was a nice cool breeze, and without it I would be too hot in my opinion. You need to be careful though, because the breeze can sometimes make you not realise actually how hot it is, so I would recommend wearing sun cream even if it doesn't feel hot enough that you should. We couldn't have hoped for better weather. Apparently September is their hottest month. I would imagine it is scorching hot.

Just other info I think could be useful
Whilst we was there, we did run into a couple of small things that i think we would do differently next time, so I thought maybe if I posted them here they may be of use to somebody.

This may have been down to our own stupidity, but when we went on the pedalo, we didn't really expect to get wet. We just presumed we would get in the boat, maybe ankle deep in the water, and have a nice relax in the boat. But we got wet through. When the guy who hired it to us pushed us out, a wave went right over the front of the boat, and we were soaking. So watch out for this, especially if you are taking a digital camera. Luckily ours was wrapped in our towel, so i would recommend this. Once your past the waves though and into the calm see it is well worth the money! 1) You'll catch the sun like mad and 2) You can take some great pictures/videos whilst relaxing at the same time.

This might make us sound even more stupid, but we find it funny now. When you hire any kind of boat on the sea, they offer you a free locker for your bags, and give you the key. Make sure you lock it up safely! Watching it sink in the deep water where we was both too scared to get out and swim for it wasnt funny at the time, and the guy didn't look too happy when he had to open the locker with a screw driver either.

Buy water from the spa to keep in your hotel room for night times when no bars are open. Its kind of obvious, but when your all inclusive and can get drinks any time you like, it may slip your mind and it can be quite dehydrating at night when its warm.

Be sure to hire a safety deposit box. Only 8 euros for the week, and although I can't see anything being taken because the staff are so nice, it makes you feel much better whilst your out, and you can totally relax.

We didn't take lots of money because we thought All Inclusive we won't need it, and we didn't NEED it, but there are lots of good trips available. There is a dolphin search we went on, only cost us 58 euros, which included a taxi to the harbour, admission on the boat, a free drink on the boat, and a taxi back to our hotel. That was for both of us, not each. The trip lasts about 3 hours, and they claim an 80% chance of finding wild dolphins. We was unfortunate to see any, but there were guests who told us they had seen about 20 swimming together the day before. I would highly recommend this trip. It was a good day out regardless, and great views of the island from the sea.

There is a scuba diving school, which i think is actually connected to the hotel as they used the pool for 1 on 1 teaching, before they could go and do it for real in the sea. I can't remember now the exact price, but I think it was 125 euros, for the training in the pool, then 20 minutes in the sea with a trained diver. We couldn't afford to do this, but I would recommend taking enough money if you fancy doing it. We will be doing next time.

An overall of the holiday, It was fantastic. I am already looking at booking the same hotel for this year in September. Which says how good it is. I wouldn't recommend however for a group of people who want to go out to clubs/bars etc drinking every night, because there isn't many unless you want to get the bus (which is free mind). But we found it to be more of a peaceful relaxing holiday, ideal for couples and families wanting to relax by the pool/sea in the great weather.

Our second visit to this hotel in 18 months. Wide selection of food - buffet style - for breakfast, lunch & dinner.

Always a choice of hot or cold food with fish and meat for both main meals. Small choice of snacks available from 10.30. Good size, comfortable & clean rooms. Pool area often busy but also a separate quieter area with sunbeds. One pool heated - about 25-28 degrees C. Some waiting for lifts during peak periods.

Evening entertainment of reasonable to good quality. All indoor areas now non-smoking. Mostly helpful staff.

Reception staff had good command of English while most bar staff also spoke some English.
