First off all I would like to say we probably picked the worst week we could to go to Gran Canaria as Nothern Ireland where playing spain there so as you can imagine there where alot of groups of lads around. Didnt feel we could spend time around the pool area at the Colina Mar as there was always a group of lads in and around the pool constantly drinking, smoking and swearing and going on a family holiday with 3 children of which one was 4 years old is not what u expect.
Anyway I would go back year after year to this hotel. It was clean, tidy, maids seemed to come everyday to us, staff where friendly weather was great and its in a fantasic location. Far enough away from the hussel and bussel of Puerto Rico but only a half hours walk down the hill or 5 min taxi ride which cost us 3 euros. The Europa Shopping Centre is a stones throw away where there are plenty of places to shop, eat and get a drink.
The only problem I can tell you about with the Colina Mar is that the lifts are very unpredictable. My friend and daughter got stuck in one for about 10 mins but then after it happened once they got used to it as it happened all the time, but as soon as u contacted reception there was someone there to get you out. I used the stairs just to be on the safe side.

Just come back from here yesterday 22 October 07. The appartments are ace, got a free bottle of water on arrival, microwave and room cleaned everyday except weekend.
We stayed half board and the food was rubbish, however if u bought from the bar it was good.. Sarah the tour rep was excellent..
Would deffo stay there again but not half board.. lol..

The Colina Mar is fab, stayed there for past 3 years.
Our room was cleaned every other day.
The staff very friendly, Christina the entertainer was lovely.

Stayed at Colina Mar whole area was filthy
Room had doors that had been kicked in. Hot or even warm water was non existant
Only one gate was open which meant we had to walk right to one end of the complex and then walk all the way back to our room
Food stood open in ban marie for god knows how long

Just got back from a fantastic week at the Colina Mar,the rooms are basic but everything you need is supplied.
Maids came at least 4 times in the week that we were there towels changed on all these occasions and sheets twice.
We were there self catering but did use the hotel restaurant for most of our meals very nice and inexpensive,plenty of choice.
It is situated at the top of the hill but the views are amazing and the taxis are very cheap to get down into resort centre or better still europa centre is 2mins away.
The staff were absolutely brilliant whether they worked in the shop,bar,restaurant,reception they made you feel really welcome.The nightly entertainment ranged from bingo,karaoke,disco,and also professional acts(chris mooney was by far the best).
We will definetly be going back next year.

Fantastic is all I can say from the minute we got there to the minute we left we could not fault this hotel in any way food great, staff so friendly,
Very clean rooms and pool areas, Cant wait to go back!!
Trust me if you want an amazing holiday choose the Calina Mar and you will have just that!!

Its was our second Xmas in the Colina Mar.
The entertainment was a lot better the previous year. We met alot of friendly people the previous year who returned this year and made our own entertainment.

The Colina Mar has lovely views over the resort but you must be prepared for a taxi or bus ride into the centre. The lifts kept breaking down so we did get some exercise in between sun bathing!
The Food was ok and we were pleasantly surprised by the variety and freshness - particularly nice salads. And there was chips and bread with everything for the less adventurous people!
The Spanish staff were also really lovely and couldn't be more friendly and helpful and we found that trying to speak a little Spanish won us allot of friends.
Sadly, what let the complex down greatly was the cleanliness and My Travel staff. Our room has sockets hanging off the wall and the wardrobe and drawers smelt funny. We didn't get clean sheets or towels when we were supposed to and the daily cleaning consisted of a quick wipe around rather than anything thorough. We found lots of us were doing our own cleaning because they were so poor.
We also found the Entertainment guy really annoying and rude and he spent most of the time shouting through his mic and winding people up. We also didn't like our rep who bored us to death with a very strong and long welcome meetings and proceeded ignore us whenever she was around. The also try to hard sell you suncream and that lady was completely outrageous in the statements she was making. My advice would be to ignore the My Travel people and get the local staff on side and they're really nice and helpful.
Come prepared: bring cleaning stuff, cockroach killer (there's a few when it's hot), earplugs for late night drunken shouting and plenty of sun cream! It's a great resort and a large enough Complex to do your own thing and avoid the noise if you want! ENJOY!

We stayed here for a week and the cleaner only visited us on the 1st floor once, other floors got cleaners on regular basis. Bedding was not changed & towels were only changed once. Had no problems sleeping but the noise from the centre at the bottom would wake us up at least once a night(with windows closed).
The hotel staff were very friendly & even when our shower broke it was repaired that evening.
Well the entertainment is likable but the guy needed a bit of life put into him I must admit he is on his own & could do with time off.

Hotel excellent. Very laid back what a way to enjoy yourself.
Hotel very nice at the top of the hill. Great views,food snacks were excellent from the bar. Went to the Europa to eat at night very cheap. Good chinese's there.
Staff were nice, quite chatty always looking for a tip though. When you did tip them, fantastic measures.
Entertainment was great usual stuff when on holiday will go back next year for a week.
