We visited the Timanfaya Palace in February 2004. It is without a doubt the nicest hotel we have stayed in anywhere. The room was huge and very comfortable. A 6 foot bed that wasn't just 2 3 foots put together. A lovely sofa and chairs as well. The whole layout of the hotel is very airy and very Eastern. the staff couldn't have been nicer and the food was fab. You had your usual whinging Brits who wanted only British food, stay at home lads if that's what you want !! Even when the restaurant was very busy the staff were more than pleasant and very helpful. The seats in the disco bar are very uncomfortable alright but the piano bar is lovely including the poor starving pigeons that come looking for peanuts. The sun setting over Fuertaventura in the evenings from the balcony during happy hour was a sight I'll never forget. We'll definitely go back

This was our 5th visit to the hotel. We go in January each year for some winter sun. The Palace is a first class hotel in a great location. Rooms are spacious and very well kept. Maid service is first class. The gounds are very well laid out and well kept with lots of areas which give the feeling of space and privacy. It is unfortunate that the pool is not heated as it is very tempting in the January sun but a shock to the system when you dive in. The food is the best I have had in a hotel of this class. The variety never ceases to amaze me and it takes a month after each visit to lose the weight. The entertainment is adequate, especially the different acts each night, but the seating leaves a lot to be desired. This is a hotel I would recommend to anyone. Playa Blanca is quiet in January but that's how we like it. However there is a lot of new villas, etc. being built so how long it will stay like that is anyones guess.

This was our third visit to this hotel and we were please to note that standards had risen over the previous year. That's not to say we were unhappy before but this visit the hotel seemed to make an extra effort. We always have one of the 2 bedroomed suites. There is only 3 off them in the hotel but we like the seperate living space and a seperate bedroom for the children. As we go in December the living space is useful if the weather is unsettled. We can relax in plenty of space without being cooped up in one room. This year there were lots of extras, bed turned down in the evening, chocolates, robes, slippers, gifts etc that were completely missing in 2002.

We also noticed that many parasols and sun bed cushions had been replaced around the pool. This hotel is quite a few years old now but on the whole is very well maintained and very clean.

The food is excellent. Amazing even! We never get tired of it and the staff just love the children. My eldest (8) loved all the attention but my youngest (3) wasn't quite sure how to take it.

The entertainment is very good except for the nights the animation team do their own show. 10 out of 10 for effort and enthusiasm but not much in the way of talent. The tribute bands are the best. We have had some fantastic evenings, last year was a bee gees band and a four tops band. These bands make the rounds of the hotels in Lanza and many of the regulars at the hotels follow them around.

The location of this hotel is perfect, looking out to sea and not too far to be able to walk into Playa Blanca if you want although we always hire a car.

If you want a really relaxing holiday in an excellent quality but not in the least pretentious hotel this is the place to go.

My wife and I visited the Timanfaya Palace again in 2003 along with my wifes sister and her husband, we really enjoyed our 2 weeks and everything was as good as the previous year, the staff were excellent as usual, especially Ferrari, a Morrocan born waiter in the piano bar, he looked after us superbly, unfortunately there were some waiters who could hardly speak any English at all so we had some difficulty with them, the acts in the Disco Bar were 1st class as usual but those seats in there are horrific, I ached for hours after sitting in there, they certainly were not meant for adults, and there was the same old problem with kids running around in the Disco Bar and even sitting on the stage when the acts were on, their parents did nothing to control them, we hired a car for 6 days during our stay and I would highly recommend this as the best way to see the Island, we visited many places of interest, especially the home of the late Cesar Manrique, the artist whom designed many of the modern buildings in Lanzarote, especially his own house just inland from Arecife, we are going back to the Hotel in October this year for another 2 weeks, and I hope to enjoy it as much as before, this time we are travelling with Direct Holidays and we are paying much less than we did last year, I tried booking on the internet direct with the Hotel but my e-mails were ignored on 2 occasions.
