We booked this late from Orchid Travel after checking on this site.

We were not disappointed in any way check in and staff were all excellent and did their utmost to make sure you had a good time and we found that they treated all customers the same no matter what your nationality.

The hotel never seemed to be overcrowded and plenty space in the public areas at all times, never saw a towel on a sunbed at anytime. The food was always hot and varied and of a very good standard dining area always clean and cleared straight away.

The entertainment was not bad and we saw two acts that were good but realise that the entertainment is not only directed at the English but other nationalities there.

On arrival as we had booked half board we were offered the option to upgrade to all inclusive at 280 euros for the week which we did not take up as the marina offers plenty of selection for meals on a afternoon and is not expensive.

To sum up we think that this is an excellent hotel in an excellent place and will return again.

We booked this holiday back in January having read very good reviews and the fact that we wanted a quiet relaxing holiday resort within reasonable distance of local watersports.

Upon arriving at the hotel I was amazed by the reception area, even though it was 9.30pm the reception staff welcomed us and took our basic details before asking if we were hungry and took our luggage from us and stored it whilst we went to the restaurant before it closed at 10pm.

The hotel itself was spotless at all times, rooms were cleaned everyday without fail. The decor of the rooms were very tasteful. The staff were always very helpful and polite. The food was plentiful and hot (not the best place to visit if you are figure watching) lots of desserts on offer which were always tempting. A bottle of water was provided in our room on the first morning and was replaced when it was empty. We were planning a trip out for one of the days and requested a picnic to take with us and received a big box each containing lots of goodies including drinks. It was also my husband's birthday whilst were there and to our surprise upon returning to our room that day we found they had left a bottle of wine and two glasses with a note wishing him a happy birthday and hopes that he enjoys his present from the reception staff.

The cleaning staff were just as thoughtful as they arranged all my toiletries in the bathroom into a shaped towel and made an envelope out of another towel to hold my husband's razor (it's the little things that make the difference).

We didn't see any of the shows that were put on as entertainment as we preferred to take a walk down to the marina which was only a short distance away but beware that it is a very steep hill down to the marina.

The pools were great, hardly anyone was in them so definately not overcrowded and there were so many sunbeds it was never a problem to find one next to the pool and the gardens were very well maintained.

All in all an excellent holiday albeit too short at a week, a couple who arrived at the same time as us summed the hotel up perfectly "it's like being on a cruise ship, you don't have to leave, everything's right here'.

We have just returned from our 2 week holiday and we wish we could have stayed longer.

This very large hotel is kept spotlessly clean at all hours of the day and night.

The rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed when required, the public areas were also spotless.

The pool water tested daily and sunbeds wow! They all work and are in one piece we even saw two men scrubbing them down one evening too!!!. On the subject of sunbeds you will never need to get up at the crack of dawn to fight for one, there are loads, you can take your pick at two o'clock in the afternoon.

Entertainment during the day was good, plenty to do but no pressure, if you wanted it you had to go and find it. The evening entertainment lacked a little, kids disco was 9-9.30, a show from 10-11pm and then nothing, apart from a large draft as everyone left the room to go to bed!!

The food here is good although lacking in variety over the two weeks it seemed rather repetitive but I have to say there's never a need to go hungry, apart from the last day that is. We had a night flight home and weren't collected from the hotel until 9pm, the all inclusive package finished at 6pm we therefore had no meal after 3pm when the lunch time buffet ended. If we wanted to eat in the restaurant we had to pay, which we didn't, we walked down to the gorgeous marina instead.

All in all we had a great holiday but we did feel that with a few minor adjustments to the food and entertainment that this would be a really top class hotel.

If you're not looking for great night life, I would really recommend this hotel and also to take a wander down to the marina for a trip out on the yellow submarine or catamaran, they are both fantastic excursions.

Happy holidays!!

This is now our second stay at this fabulous hotel.
We stayes in an interconnecting room which meant we had two rooms (2 adults & 2 children) mum and dad had there own room.

Rooms beautiful and immaculate. Maid sevice daily and constant cleaning went on around the hotel. The hotel was right next to the marina which had some beautiful views and lovely bars.

Hotel food was really nice, loads of variety and staff were great bringing drinks etc whenever required. The pools are the hotel were really big and never overcrowded. The children had the run of the little pool and due to shallowness you did not have to worry.

Lots going on throughout day if you wanted or you could laze by pool. Second time around catered for more nationalties (Spanish & German) where as first time around everything centered around english. Entertainment was only downfall as such.

Okay but a bit mundane and as they spoke in Spanish first could not always get the jist straight away. Overall would definately go back again.

Lots for everyone of all ages, kids clubs etc

This was our first family holiday and a great one.

The hotel was immaculate.

The food was out of this world with such a great choice. We were fully inclusive so all day we ate and had drinks without worrying of the cost, especially with 3 young ones.

Swimming pools were clean and lots of space.

Put the kids in kids club once but they are used to being with us so they did not go again as cried for us.

We enjoyed the entertainment at night, good acts/groups though it could go on till 1am.

Hired a jeep to travel the island in a day, got lunch boxes to take with us from hotel.

Would go back again as long as my wife gets the departure date right as on the morning of the flight home we were shopping in Puerto del Carmen a 15min free bus ride away, believe it or not with the help of the hotel staff we caught the flight home. Thank you

We arrived at hotel just after midnight. Check in was very smooth.

We had booked 3 rooms (one for son and girlfriend, one for husband, me and youngest son, and single for middle son) Receptionist apologised that we couldn't have 2 rooms for middle son and hubby etc, but they had allocated us a suite!!!!

I didn't dare ask why, but we quick footed it away asap. Suite was lovely, huge bathroom with 2 sinks, bath and overhead shower, separate shower cubicle, private loo and bidet (screened from rest of bathroom). Hallway, big lounge area with 2 sofas, coffee table etc, etc, and two good sized bedrooms with plenty of wardrobe space. Woke up next morning to veranda with 4 sunloungers, 2 chairs and a table plus sea view!

We could not fault the cleanliness of any area of the hotel. All pool areas and walkways were spotless, as were the restaurants, common areas, and lounge.

Our room was cleaned each day, with fresh towels if required, full size shower gel was over bath and in shower cubicle.

Toilets in the hotel were kept clean, one night I popped to the loo by the lounge (ground floor area) and the lady was in cleaning the loos at 11.20pm....

We stayed AI, we liked this, the choice of drinks suited us fine as we are not big drinkers, but if you are perhaps you could get a little fed up with what's on offer. The food was really good, all hot (if it should be) and lots of choice. The salad selection was the best we have ever had. There are no chips/pizza etc on offer during the day, only cut sandwiches. This did not bother us at all. At least there's no squidgy chips all over the place!!

When I booked I knew the hotel was more or less on its own, and we didn't have any problems with this. The three late teenagers in our party (19, 19 and 18) we quite happy staying around the hotel.

The staff were fine, they were very sociable and polite.

The entertainment was low key, (again fine by us) our 11 yr old didn't use the kids club, but by what we saw of it the children who did enjoyed it.

All in all we really enjoyed the Costa Calero and will almost certainly return.

My boyfriend and I got a very good deal for a weeks all inclusive and so were unsure of what the quality would be like!
It was amazing! What a beautiful hotel! It should be a five star.

I am crazy about cleanliness and this place was beyond my standard. The maids did a wonderful job.

The staff overall were great and so friendly, I just couldn't believe the hours they worked, and with such enthusiasm.

Food was great, a little repetitive but doesn't matter when it's nice does it!?

Saw a little of the entertainment one night and I thought it was hilarious!(mind you I had taken advantage of the free bar by this point)!

Mostly ventured to the town by night, cabs are cheap enough.

Took the coach to the beach one day but was too windy and so ate a load of sand and didn't return.

The poolside was great any way.

Beautiful place,amazing memories!!!!!!!

This was our first "DIY" holiday, having always booked everything through a tour operator in the past.
We chose the Iberostar Costa Calero because we were looking for a week of relaxation and wanted a quiet location and this hotel seemed to be an ideal choice. By booking everything seperately ie flights, accommodation etc we actually managed to save around 50% compared to what it would have cost had we booked through a tour operator. (Cost per person was

when we arrived we were greeted very well considering it was about 1am. the hotel staff were always happy.

The hotel was very clean, maids were in everyday and all the gardens and surroundings were kept clean, oudoor floors were washed every night.

Would recommend all inclusive as we were always at the bar which we didnt need our wallet for. The food was lovely had a good range of food everyday. Food was always hot (if went cold was replaced).

It was about 5 to 10 minutes from the centre which you got a free bus from the hotel and back everyday but at certain times.
You had a boat yard and some shops and resturants 2 minutes walk from the hotel.

The entertainment was good for everyone they had an early part for the kids and then more towards the adults where kids could still go.

Our overall holiday was great would well recommend it and go back again.

A friend and I took our spring holiday at this hotel, it is a modern facility with all the amenities you would expect from a four star establishment.

The arrival at the hotel was quick journey from the airport, we had book transport to and from the airport but if we knew what we know now, we would have used the money we paid to the tour operator to get a taxi, these are available at the airport and it costs approximately 15 euros one way and is worth every penny especially on the journey back for your return flight home, we did this and arrived at the airport and avoided all the usual scramble at the check in desk.

Back to the hotel, we booked this holiday as a relaxation break, and the location certainly lived up to our expectation, however on the Costa-Calero web-site and in certain brochure you are given the impression that the hotel is set directly besides the marina this is not the case. The marina is down quite a steep back and would not be suitable for some elderly people or people with walking difficulties. However the hotel does cater for both these groups very well, there is very good wheelchair access and in the public toilets around the hotel there are disabled facilities. In the lifts there are brail numbers for each floor and an audible signal when the doors are open.

The staff are very helpful and noting is to much for them, when you arrive you will be asked if you would like a waiter served Spanish meal during your stay, this is included in the price and is well worth booking as it avoids the usual choice of about twenty things to eat at the main restaurant, they can even cope with special requests, the friend who I travel with is diabetic so deserts are out of the question, so when informed of this they arranged for him to have a platter of cheese.

The rooms are well appointed with an excellent bathroom, and the beds are very comfortable, (purely a personal view), extra pillows and blankets can be requested and these arrive quickly. A word of caution the bath in your room only has a slight rippled effect on the bottom and can be slippery my friend slipped when we asked if there was anything that could be done an anti-slip mat was provided quickly and efficiently.

The maid service was excellent although don
