On arriving in reception we realised that we had made the wrong choice in staying in this hotel. The decor and furnishings were very dated and the lifts were very unsafe as they kept breaking down with the doors open, in fact on our day of departure we had to carry our luggage down ten flights of stairs because the lifts were not working.

Our room was for 3 adults, the third being our 15 year old daughter, they were no sheets to make up our daughter's bed and only two towels. Throughout our stay we had to constantly ask for a third towel. The bedrooms are hot and stuffy as there was not even a fan.

The hotel was not throughly cleaned as on many occasions we saw half eaten lollipops on window sills and cigarette butts on stairs.

We always had our evening meal at 6pm which was the opening of the restaurant. Every three days was the same menu, liver and onions, meatballs etc and pratically the same deserts every night. Breakfast was much the same with little choice, only croissants twice in fourteen days.

There were 2 pool tables, neither of which had all the balls or cues, and the table tennis table was vandalised during our stay.

There were also 4 computer with internet access but for most of our stay there was only 1 working.

On the plus side the entertainment team were very good organising a range of activities.

On the whole though we will not stay in this hotel again, and i would rate this hotel as a 2 star.

The Princessa Dacil is a great hotel especialy for anyone with children I was realy surprised at the quality of the food as it is listed as a 3 star hotel.

My six year old and myself had the best holiday we've ever had the cleanliness of the hotel was exellent as was the staff in all departments from reception to the maids every one works very hard to make your stay in this hotel a very memorable occasion.

The entertainment staff are also the ones who run the kids club and entertainment for them they are absolutly wonderful.

I am already planning my next years holiday at the dacil as it is a fantastic hotel.

We have just returned from a weeks stay here and I must admit we were very apprehensive before we went as I didn't read the reviews on this website until after we had booked, and I honestly thought..'Oh, my God'..what have we done? It sounded dreadful!

However, for the amount we paid, on a special deal which was half the brochure price, we were extremely happy with this hotel. Yes, it does look rather dated from the 'outside' but we were not going on holiday to Tenerife to study Spanish architecture...we simply wanted a week in the hot sun!

We found all areas of the hotel spotlessly clean, including our bedrooms and pool area. The cleaning staff were still going round in the early evening and I never saw litter anywhere.

The staff from every department were lovely! I have stayed in many hotels abroad and the attitude of some of the hotel employees has been rude and obnoxious but all the staff we encountered were really nice. Regarding food, we found a great amount of choice in the 'Buffet Style' Restaurant. We had Sirlion Steaks, Lamb Steaks and delicious Pork Chops...and trust me I don't eat cheap food, I do most of my shopping at either Waitrose or Marks & Spencer!

The Entertainment Team are great, if you have young children you won't regret staying here as there is so much to do. Although we were 3 Adults aged 21, 50 & 73...Daughter, Mother & Nan, we joined in with the some of the Entertainment and won several bottle's of Champagne! Okay... Sparkling wine but it was drinkable!

My only complaint would be regarding the pool area and not enough 'sun-umbrellas' for the amount of people in the hotel, although we never had a problem getting a sun lounger whilst we were there in June I would never contemplate staying here in July/August as it would be to crowded.

My only other complaint was rock-hard pillows and this was rectified the next day on speaking with the room maid.

If you want a 5*Star hotel with no kids around then pay double what you pay here!

We were very impressed with how clean this hotel is.We arrived late after a delay and were offered a meal even though the dining room had closed. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Our room consisted of a lounge, bedroom and large bathroom. This was cleaned daily and the towels changed daily.

The food was always hot and there was a very varied choice. We had no problems finding a table every night.

There was no problem finding a sun bed by the pool,in fact a few afternoons the pool was almost empty. Not bad for half term week.

The entertainment team worked very hard and there was a different show every night.

The hotels location is very good, about five minutes from the beach and a bus service nearby.

Booked an allocation on arrival ended up here.

I took my 11 year old son and the hotel is very clean but looks about 30 years since the last refurb.

The staff were mostly rude and not very helpful.

The food was not too bad but boring after a few days the kitchen staff were excellent.

It was warm and there was quite a variety to choose from cant really complain.

Drinks were expensive in the hotel and the pool was tiny. No entertainment to mention and the whole place was full of pensioners so if you are over 60 stay here you will love it!!

But on the plus side it was in an excellent location and very clean and quiet still does deserve 3 star nothing more nothing less nice cheap holiday.

On arrival the reception area is very impressive. The reception staff were helpful.

Our room was a studio style but clean, though the bathroom had a musty smell and on some nights a sewerage smell from the drains in the floor.

FOOD Breakfasts were good plenty of choice, but the evening meals were of a poor standard if you like Pork or Veal stews then this is ideal if not go for B&B. There is a Mexican night which consists of getting your photo taken with two girls in Mexican dresses no tacos or any other Mexican dishes. Oh one night we had Lamb chops which one of the other guests broke his tooth trying to bite through it.

POOL area is far to small for the hotel, if you want a sunlounger that is not broken you must be in the queue at 8am sharp for the rat race.

STAFF the cleaners always smiled and greeted with OLA. The same could not be said of the bar staff hardly a smile between them. The tables at the poolside bar were very unstable to lay your beer or coffee on them was a risky business, you always had to get beer mats to prop up a leg or legs to stablize them. The leather seats and couches in the main bar were very tacky, the top layer of the leather is peeling off not a great advert for the hotel.

NO air condition in our room but that was ok in November but not in the summer. Hotel badly needing refurbished now.

On arrival at the hotel I did think it looked like a concrete jungle!!

Once inside I was very impressed with the reception area and the service from the reception staff.

The rooms were spacious, there was a sofa bed and a twin room with a large bathroom. These were cleaned every day and clean towels were supplied every day.

The entertainment team were great! There were lots of things going on day and night.

I would return to the hotel and have no problem recommending this hotel to others.

Upon arrival both families were pleased with our rooms being quite large with separate bedrooms and double sofa beds in the living area. The room decor is old but acceptable. Our room did have a few minor defects, leaking shower head and broken drawer. The rooms have ample storage and a smaller than average balcony. Although the rooms were serviced daily, the maids failed to wash or sweep the floors on most occasions.

The restaurant is typical serving what you would expect from most Spanish Hotels on a half board basis. I must point out though that the menu posted outside daily on most occasions was not on offer inside. At times the restuarant staff could not cope and resulted in long delays for certain foods. Breakfast times can be tedious although on alternate days they do provide English Sauseges.

The complex has three bars, The Old English bar, first impressions of this bar look good from the outside but once inside you will agree it's completly tatty with every leather seat broken/torn and the carpet is rancid needing replacement if you can get it off your feet as it's so sticky.. Poolside/Outside bar is good with ample seating for the evening entertainment. The disco bar downstairs is avarage and opens until 1am. Pint of San Miguel 3.10 euros, soft drinks 1.90 euros and a bottle of red or white wine 9 euros.

The pool area is quite small for such a large Hotel, it comprises of a childrens pool and larger Adult. An important note.. there is NO life guard... A small basic childrens play area can be found to the side of the Hotel and the childrens theme is the Flinstones.

It must be said though the entertainment for the children is great with daily programmes provided by a great team of entertainers who work extremely hard. In particular Philip of the entertainment team was extremely good with the kids. I must point out though, the daily programmes come at a premium, 10 euros per child per day, which can run expensive over and above the cost of your stay. We didn't expect to pay but we booked directly and saved quite alot, one other family we spoke with paid 4500 euros and had three children wanting to take part which we thought was a bit steep and should have been included in their package. Overall the Hotel was acceptable but were not sure if it meets it's 3 star rating.

Although some of the points I mention below might be quite negative, I think a holiday is what you make of it and the comments I've made certainly didn't spoil our holiday. We still had a lovely time.

The hotel is quite dated and is in need of a refurbishment, however we always found it to be clean and tidy. The maids came in every day to clean the rooms. The addition of air conditioning to the rooms is an absolute must - not just to keep the rooms cool but to add some ventilation to the bathroom which started to feel a little musty after two weeks.

As mentioned in other reviews, the pool size is too small for the amount of guests it serves. There is not enough room for the quantity of sunbeds needed (and there isn't enough of those, even if you could find a spare place to put it!) There's a rush for the sunbeds when security open the door at 8am. Degrading, but necessary if you want to sit by the pool that day. The pool itself is particularly busy late afternoon onwards - but on the plus side the water is lovely and warm.

The food is average. The breakfasts were OK - I can recommend the omelette's which were cooked fresh in front of you. I found the evening meals were a lottery. Always veal (does anyone eat veal?!?) and a lot of pork dishes. There's a children's buffet too and that received no complaints from the kids (although I think even they were a bit fed up of chips by the end of the stay). We had fun trying to guess which dish they had added the tinned fruit cocktail to. Not only was it served as a dessert, it popped up in mayonnaise (tropical salad!) and in rice (tropical paella). Only to be beaten by the frankfurter which was served for breakfast some mornings, chopped up in the minestrone soup for tea, and in another mayonnaise based salad parading as "German Salad". :-D

The kids club was disappointing, and was more like "activities for kids". On previous holidays (including one to a sister Sol hotel in Majorca) the kids clubs were run at set times of the day (like 9.30 - 11.00) and during this time they'd have their own activities etc.. Here, it was really just Water Polo, or Football where the kids would disappear into the pool or the tennis court for 45 Min's and then come back. Not really a kids club I don't think. The kids reps were very good though.

Mini disco was just one song. The kids loved it and I reckon they could have made more of that - let it go on for half hour or so..

The daytime activities for adults were great - water polo, volleyball, football, archery, tennis, shooting, crazy mat (running across the pool on a foam mat). The reps were not too pushy when they asked you if you wanted to join in (a pet hate of mine), and if you said no then they left it at that.

This hotel is the best one I have ever stayed in, in my whole life. One member of my family achually got good friends with one of the entertainers.

There is exellent childrens entertainment on some nights and good adult entertainment on other nights. The entertainment starts late though.

The childrens mini disco starts at 9:00 pm and the adults at 10:00 pm. the food was exellent and it wasnt greasy at all.
