Just returned from this Hotel and I can only say it was superb

It is well located and within easy walking distance of the sea front , shops and entertainment and most important for anyone with walking problems (I have angina ) it is flat Allthough in a central location the area around the hotel is quite. I can only endorse all the positive reports by others. A great holiday for older couples (I am 67) and young families, with great day and night time entertainment for the kids . Oh and by the way they have just installed heating for the pool

Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in in Europe. It was our 30th Wedding anniversary and we were given, at no extra cost, a room with a sea view & champagne and a card from the management. All the staff were lovely. The foyer is really airy and beautifully clean.

The rooms were the biggest I've every stayed in in Spain. Sister hotel with the Vulcano, whose rooms are much, much smaller. Well situated for both day and night time entertainment, but quiet enough for a good nights sleep. Air conditioning worked really well. 2 lovely pools, with a draught free pool area that reaches incredible temperatures.

Stayed at this hotel in late June. I wouldn't rate it as highly as a lot of the previous comments made. We had to be moved from our original room because of ants. When I stayed the hotel was not mostly occupied by the older age group, but mostly families. The rooms were good but not excellent, and the air conditioning worked well.

The evening meals and choice of food was very good, however I haven't rated the food 5* because of the standard of the cooked breakfast which was appalling; admittedly there was a chef cooking omelettes and there was a good choice of fruit etc. but if you are a cooked breakfast person you'll have to eat out. The pool area was large and the entertainment good and no-one seemed to have any problem getting a sunbed. I would go back to this hotel if the breakfast improved, or I got a very good price to compensate.

I actually booked to go to the Torviscas Playa, but got moved at the last minute to the Bitacora because the Torviscas was being refurbished. I was a bit nervous about this at first, but it turned out to be a lovely hotel. I agree with all the other positive comments other people have posted. The restaurant was fabulous, both for the quality and quantity of food available. Not very good for the waistline though! At no extra cost I requested a pool view and high room and got both. There is a fairly busy road near the hotel but it's not too bad. Staff were extremely friendly. Considering that the really shabby area of the Veronicas nightclubs is only a short walk away, you aren't really aware of it. There is a very new and tidy underground shopping centre a short distance away. I went in May, and I would say that 90% of the guests at that time were elderly. There were a couple of young families but myself and my friend were the only young people there! Overall, a great holiday.

Very good hotel. Much superior to adjacent same-price sister-hotel Vulcano, but considerably less impressive than sister-hotel Playa la Arena which costs 10% more. All are 4-star.

Evening menu exceptionally good and well varied, but cooked vegetables mediocre. Excellent steaks, chops, veal and fish cooked to personal taste at optional self-service bar.

Excellent, extensive breakfast menu but "English" cooked breakfast not up to home standard.

Pool areas quite large. Busy but always spaces. Management remove towels from unused "reserved" loungers on request.

No poolside bar service.

Very convenient for smart evening entertainment, restaurants, bars, shops.

Clientele mainly 45 - 65 year age group, so only few children, but good entertainment for them.

Many clients are regulars, which speaks for itself.

Stayed at the Hotel Bitacora with all our family (10 of us with ages ranging from 1yr up to 60years)for the first time 3 feb 2002.

What a good hotel, could not fault anything. Food,(as good as Cunard cruise ships) rooms, staff and entertainment excellent. Something for everybody. If anybody has a complaint about this Hotel they must be very very fussy people. Will be going back again.
