This was our third Christmas at this hotel and it was even better than the previous ones. The refurbishments were good and added to the hotel. The staff are very friendly and always try to help. The New Years eve Gala dinner was wonderful all the stops were pulled out.I do not think I can find fault, we will be looking to book for a fifth Christmas.

My wife and I have just returned from two weeks at the Barcelo Santiago. This was our third visit to this hotel and it will not be our last.

The food was excellent with the addition of a pasta bar since our last visit. This was only open for dinner not lunch. The food was always hot and a good proportion of it is cooked at the grill while you wait. Coffee at breakfast is now served in pots with a pot of hot milk or there are pots of tea with a large number of different Twinnings teas to choose from.Snacks are available at the pool bar from 1000hrs until 1300hrs then 1500hrs until 1900hrs and again there is a large variety. There is a Tapas restaurant which is open until 0100hrs if you do not want to use the main restaurant.

The all inclusive drinks menu is extensive and includes nine types of cocktails.

The rooms have been refurbished with flat screen TV.s and modern decor. Nearly all have sea views and some have views of Los Gigantes.

The entertainment area is now down stairs and covered where previously it was outside by the main pool. The site of the old theatre has been turned into an infinite pool which was very popular during our stay.

The entertainment was of average quality with three professional acts each week.

There are plenty of sun beds to go round but there is not enough shade for everyone to get cover when its busy.

This was our 6th and sadly our final trip to this hotel. Too many changes have taken place but the worst by far is the removal of the outdoor auditorium to make way for another swimming pool. what a waste of space. One of the highlights of previous holidays was to be able to sit outside and enjoy the entertainment as the sun was setting but now your are stuck in a converted garage all on one level.

the entertainment team were horrendous and it wasnt untill the last couple of days of the holiday that we were asked to join in....it seemed they had there favourites and when those people were not there then they asked others.

reception staff were very unhelpful. i lost a gold bracelet round the pool area and on asking at reception if it had been handed in I was asked if I really trusted people to do that. they then turned there back on me.

The only saving grace to this holiday was the El Timon Restaurant next door to the hotel. A family run business. Chritian and Matina will make you feel very welcome. The food and service was amazing and the view across the Atlantic was stunning. There home made Tiramasu was to die for!!!!!!!!

All in all a rather disappointing holiday and it will be a long time before we return to the Canaries

Excellent hotel, will close April/May this year for refurbishment, but still in good nick!

Very clean, if spot anything just report to reception & sorted. Lovely quiet location, great for couples /friends & elderly for a chillout time!

Free bus from hotel to various destinations if you want to venture further. Staff so friendly Havier & Daniel especially, all know different languages, always willing to help... thanks!

Entertainement within hotel ok, varied, but can also venture to a few places across the road from hotel...Route 66 & Courtyard.

Definitely visit here again.

Fantastic, we requested a family suite on the 6th floor or above as a previous holiday truths person had recommended.

We had a brilliant room which had a huge balacony area overlooking the sea on one side and wrapping around to breathtaking views of the cliffs on the otherside, during our stay there was a festival with an amazing firework display.

The Sunsets were beautiful.

The children enjoyed the mini club and disco each evening. The staff were very commited and friendly to everyone. The daytime activities co-ordinators all speak 6 languages and respect you if you say you don't want to join in the many activities they provide for you.(table tennis, darts, water volley ball, archery, shuffle board and a few others).

There were 2 pools one heated which is the same depth (1.1m) throughout. Our daughter swam her first width without armbands on the last day. We often were the only ones in the pool at the end of the day; great for quality time. The pool was ideal for this time of year although I would imagine it would be very crowded during peak time.
