We studied hard and long to choose our May holiday. Closeness of airport / Family! Hotel . Three bedded apt... on arrival at airport just as luggage being put into taxi we noticed shopping basket under New double buggy bought purposely for said holiday had big tear in it! On arrival at reception we were told where to go to find apt-up a VERY STEEP hill with 3large suitcases 2smaller ones a double buggy loaded with two children. We asked for help as there was a luggage trolley next to reception, the answer was ‘no one to help at moment’ so we struggled dreadfully to manage. Then we could not find said apt! Finally one of us went walk about whilst others waited! On entering this VERY SMALL apt we knew it just was not adequate for our needs.parents had double +cot toddler was ‘given ‘twin and granny got the sofa! Suitcases got left where we walked in! We could not move. Next morning went to report damage to buggy ,rep said at one point ‘Wear and Tear!’ Mmm don’t think so, then she told us we should have reported it at airport! We didn’t see it till it was being loaded into taxi! Come back tomorrow we’ll see what we can do....what about our THREE bedded apt? ‘We don’t do 3bedded’...Jet 2 actually Don’t! Went to reception to ask for 3 bedded, yes but it will cost you €120! Come back tomorrow ( we were only there for a week) still living in clutter we were so far away from complex once we were out we stayed out ALL DAY as it was just physically too far to keep walking back to apt! And We as a family are walkers just not with all the paraphernalia you need to take out with you with two little ones.

Back to reception following day ‘yes we’ll have one sorted for you later!’ So later that day we were sent on a useless ‘Hunt the Apartment Tour’ with TWO staff. After 45? Minutes one staff disappeared given up. Thankfully the younger one had more spirit. We were actually shown a 1970’s style one that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since then with same furniture. We declined it...so another half hour and the shout went out ‘found it’ Really? We decided to pay the extra as it was what we originally would have liked. Young ‘Spirited ‘young man stayed to help us move two baby cots ALL other luggage we moved ourselves! But still a very long way to complex so once up and out you were out for the day! We even missed some evening meals as we just could not re do the ‘walk ‘ and to add insult to injury when in dining room in the evening there was NEVER enough cutlery, and to find a High Chair WITH straps...good luck there. Meal times were far too late for children in this ‘Family luxe’ hotel. We asked for a meal of sorts (chicken and veg)to be made for toddler for next evening . They said to call at reception 6pm. Fine we thought, until next day whilst out in Cambrilles son in law had a call to say could he collect meal at 3pm?..mmm tricky, so at 6 pm we called for meal only to be given a tureen of soup! Toddler needed dinner you know meat and vegetables. The saga with the shopping buggy basket carried on minding NOT to loose toys/nappies anything that would slip through the hole. We were finally loaned TWO single buggy's as nothing else available We paid for them and we were actually refunded but that didn’t help the fact we had 2 instead of one to push. We had no one into clean apt. or take rubbish so we were taking our nappies out with us to dispose of in local bins. The last morning we actually had a young waitress willing to help in the dining room in searching for equipped hi chair plus restraints her colleague just shook his head and carried on...this is just a few of the things that happened on ‘our holiday’.

On return to ‘make a complaint’to Jet 2 you are told it may take 28 days to reply,,,well it does So by the time you have sent emails in return the wait goes on With the operator obviously hoping to wear the customer down and they finally give up’ on this occasion it has only been in the last couple of weeks I maybe able to claim compensation for damaged shopping basket IF I can supply them (Jet2) with invoice/cost of,,, so emailed supplier.....wait again ...forward that on....wait again and J2 say that they will forward me £12.99 for replacement I have to organise! But what they didn’t read on top of invoice OUT OF STOCK TILL END OF OCTOBER! The saga goes on....So PLEASE believe me ,we really studied hard and long to try and get our Family Luxe Holiday right, it just wasn’t So BEWARE.....we travelled in May and we are now into September . We will certainly be travelling with a different company next time.

Hotel tip: Only go if you are a couple, we spoke to a family who had holidayed there last year same time and said it was SO much better,so much so they booked again for this year only to find Different Management.,,,not good plus you can only take your little ones swimming in a very short hourly gap....after breakfast! And please don’t order packed lunch....no more to say on that So Poor,

Great for families.

Stayed here with my husband and 6 month old baby. Check in was a bit disappointing as we got there at 11am, but our room wasn't ready. I think we were the unlucky ones as everybody else's seemed to be fine. We had to sit in the bar area until 2pm, which was a little frustrating.
The receptionist told us not to complain however as they had given us a free upgrade to a sea view room, so we just patiently waited.

The room was lovely and looks like they've had a recent refurb. Very spacious and there was a fridge which was a fab bonus. Shower was great and very spacious with plenty of hot water.

There was a problem with the cot they provided though, as only 2 sides out of 4 locked in position. Hubby phoned reception and they sent somebody up, who told us that "maid say's it's ok, been like that for a long time". Tried to explain that we had one similar at home, and 4 sides locked but it fell on deaf ears. It was OK though and seemed sturdy enough. Baby slept in it fine all week.
If your a light sleeper I would avoid sea view rooms as they hold the evening entertainment around the poolside and it's very noisy until Midnight.

We didn't find drinks that cheap at 3.80 euros for 2 half beers, but with a baby in tow we didn't drink very much anyway.

Poolside was very clean and tidy and just off it there was a little park for the children. Lifeguard on duty at all times. Pool opened at 10am and closed at 6.30pm. Pool bar opened at 11am and closed at 4.30pm but the inside bar was very close by. Times may change in peak season, I’m not sure. You only had to cross a small cycle track and you were on the beach so lovely and close.

Meal times- Breakfast started at 8am, and you had toasties, full English, cold meats, salad, boiled eggs, cereals, bread, fruit, and pastries, so plenty to choose from. The chef was also there making fresh smoothies and milkshakes.

We were half board so had an evening meal also. You could change this and have it at lunchtime instead if you wanted, but you had to let reception know by 7pm the night before.

Evening meal started at 8pm which we found really late. By that time the baby was getting grumpy and was ready for bed. Much better if it would have started 6.30/7pm for us. Only once we went there by 8pm, and it was terrible, everybody pushing and shoving. Leave it until 8.20pm and the majority of the chaos has ended.

For you internet lovers there were 4 computers in the lobby, at 1 euro for 15 minutes. All in all no major complaints about this hotel.

One thing I would bare in mind though is that it is actually in the middle of nowhere, with not much nearby. The walk into Cambrils itself takes 30minutes, but it's all flat and you can walk the promenade. The walk into Salou would take much longer so we didn't do that. Buses are ample though and so easy to use. The bus stop is right outside the hotel.
