arrived back today and could be happier. the hotel was filthy dirty i have never seen anything like it ,the staff were very rude unhelpful to be honest i don't know why they were there, the bar staff need a training course on how to smile and greet customers, the first choice rep very very rude and unhelpful, the air con not worth talking about, the rooms if you want to live from your case then they will be fine, noise levels very hi, there was a large group of us with children but our kids went to bed a reasonable times you could sill hear the other kids 2/3 in the morning, what a joke where are their parents, lift always breaking down, fire alarms went of day and night, pools too small for the size of the place, food was about the only god thing except for the entertainment staff they were very friendly and did their best, kids club well if you would leave your children with an 18 year old who has about 18/20 kids at a time on her own then fine. would we go back? never, even if it was free

This hotel is a waste of space we asked for 4 rooms and to be near each other bearing in mind we booked this a year ago so they new well in advanced our rooms were all over the place with one of them in a different building.

The hotel staff are rude and no help wot so ever.we spent two weeks there and the fire alarm went off at least once a day also the elec and we never got a explanation to why.

One room was on the 4th floor and the lift broke down on a daily basis. The first day we was there my 15yr old son with special needs got stuck in the lift for over 10mins.

It was only that we could hear him screaming and crying we had to inform the staff as they wasnt taking no notice of the alarm.

When I went down they was laughing about it which I didnt find funny as my son was scared. The entainment was ok but only a few staff having to do it all they was friendly and the children loved them.

The kids club was a joke 1 adult to 18 children no chance I would leave mine cant possibly be watching that amount on there own.

The only thing good about this holiday was the weather and the food was excellent. We only enjoyed ourselves when we was out the hotel.

Couldnt go in the rooms other then to get straight into bed because so small couldnt move. As for going back to this hotel got no chance even if you paid me.

Have just arrived back after two weeks at this hotel,we had a fab time, like most people don't go by some of the reviews, go give it a try don't think you will be dissapointed. It was very clean.Food excellent, plenty of choice if you like curries give them a go very good.Found the location a bit out about a 15 min walk to the beach but a free bus runs from hotel between 10am 11.30am then back between 4pm 5.30pm.The staff were all very friendly and helpful if you had a complaint they tried there hardest to help you.As said before Eva the manager was just like another guest always around.also joined in with the entertainment team in one of there shows.Hose on reception was also very nice and helpfull.Have to give Jesus one of bar staff a mention he to was very nice, just like the rest of bar staff. The entertainment team work really hard as well great with the kids, kids club can be from 11/30am until 4pm they also take the kids for lunch as well if you want really good.Have to give Dave a special mention as he is VERY good with the kids, also Geeza,Laura,Vicki who work really hard,Entertainment started at 8pm with a family quiz,8.30pm till about 9/15 kids club, then money bingo,Main show about 10pm till 11pm then they have an adult game show which is a good laugh, everything in main area closes at 12pm prompt then you can go outside until 12.30pm,some people complained about this but for our family i thought it was really good because you knew there wasn't going to be any noise after 12/30pm.Iwould definently recommend this hotel and will be going back, excellent. Also Portaventura was brilliant if going i would recommend going in the evening as it is a bit cooler and dont have very long to wait, also the firework display at midnight is spectacular.

We were two families of six, and after reading reports we were terrified of this complex!
What was all the fuss about, this was a great place to stay and certianly vabulous value for money. the food is brilliant, good selection every night, and hot dogs and burger rolls available till about midnight soaked up the booze, i put on a few pounds.
But seriously give this place a try if you have kids, the entertianment was just a rabble, too noisy, too much if you just want to chill!
one thing i do think is a worry, is the lack of space by the pool, no way enough beds for the size of hotel. never-the-less we were in the annex part of the hotel which had its own pool, 'amazing' it was like a private garden.

like many i to read what people said about the hotel and was worried about staying there, but the hotel was great the food well put it this way we gained loads of weight plenty of choice everyday and even the staff and the manager eva eats in the restaurant there is just so much choice and its all fresh and well presented, its just a shame that people let there kids as young as two go up helping there selfs to food wasting it all over the place ect plus the food trays were hot so they could of got burnt. all the staff work long hours, the cleaners were friendly, every morning when we come down for breakfast at eight the cleaners were clearing up from the night before and they had some clearing up to do,it was mostly english staying there, and i was embarressed to see such a state but after the cleaners had finished it was all ready clean ready for us english to trash again. eva the manager was lovely if she could help with anything she would she was very people friendly a good manager, 4 of us shared an appartment just down the road but went to hotel for food and drink, great cause we had a washing machine, if anyone gets the chance for an appartment snap it up, cause there huge 2 bedrooms, kitchen, frontroom, bathroom, and the balcony is big plus there is a private swimming pool adjoining the appartments, i would warn you about pickpockets though my husband had his wallet took eventhough it was in a bumbag under his t shirt he didnt feel a thing 150 euros down, but that was on a train going to barcelona and we did speak to other people that it had happened to trains and buses seem to be the pickpocket target and half the time its even before you get on when its crowded with the pushing and shuving just be aware that it go's on alot in salou. other than that we had a great time the theme park was amazing the firework display at midnight was well worth staying for we bought a two week pass before we left england and had loads of fun although we found it less busy going after seven at night and cooler. the year before we went to turkey and price wise yes it was alot dearer for things in spain but still had a great holiday and yes we would go back to villa marina all eleven of us.

Just returned from Villa Marina, our party of 19 had a smashing holiday.

Food was excellent, great variety - something for everyone not one complaint from any of our party. Drinks flowed and although you were only allowed 2 drinks per person there was never much of a queue - did not seem to be watered down either. The bar does shut promptly at midnight and then you are moved from the bar to the outside area to finish your drinks only being given a limited amount of time - security is quite strict. The alternatives then are off to your room or go out of the hotel and to be fair the bar is open for 12 hours so we found that we had enough by then.

The entertainment staff worked hard and the evening consisted of Bingo (only for about 20 minutes)and then an act e.g group, comedian, fire eater -all worth watching.

The cleanliness of the hotel I would only describe as fair - never really saw a cleaner in the public areas unlike some places in Spain where they seem to mop the floors all day long.

Cannot comment on the bedrooms in the actual hotel as our party were put into the apartments a couple of minutes down the road - these were 2 bedroomed and spacious with a very large balcony which suited us but it did mean not being in the centre of everything (particularly bad if you have spanish tummy).

The actual location of the hotel is approximately a 10-15 minute walk into town/beach but there was a courtesy bus which run up to 11.30 in the morning then again in the afternoon.

This is definately a hotel for the family, not particularly suited to young or elderly travellers and I would say 90/95% British.

We have just come back from The Villa Marina Club, and I must say, that after reading the reviews on the Internet (after I had booked my holiday) I became quite nervous about going.

We had a great holiday, a little bit noisy in the nights but overall, great value for money. Like most of the other comments that have been written, Eva, The Manager, is fabulous.

She is always around the Hotel and is happy to help anyone with any queries or problems they may have. The older could do with a bit of a 'Face Lift' as the decoration is a bit dated, and the rooms are quite small, but the rest of the Hotel is lovely.

Don't go to this Hotel if your expecting 5*, bacause, you will be dissappointed. Remember, this is rated as a 3* Hotel, and I think the rating is fair. We went for 14 nights, and only had 2 days of cloudy weather.

There are 2 pools in the complex, both quite small, but there is enough room for you to sit around them comfortably. Whilst we were staying at The Villa Marina, my Fiance had an accident in the pool, he fell in the pool, 'head first'. The language barriar was a bit of a problem in the hospital, but the hotel staff couldn't do enough for us.

They kept food for us until after we got back from the hospital and they were also ringing the hospital to find out how my Fiance was. The did genuinly care for his safety. This made us feel much more happier, knowing that there was someone there to help us if it was needed.

They arranged an Ambulance for him and also taxis for other family members to follow the Ambulance to the hospital, and then they arranged taxis for our return back to the hotel.

They didn't want any payment for any of it, thats all we had to do was show our E111 cards at the hospital and then all payments were covered. Anyway, going back to the hotel. If your a family, looking for a family holiday, good value and friendly people, then your going to the right place.

Just before I go, you must go to PortAventura and Barcelona, just a little bit of advice though - dont go on Dragon Karn unless you are aware of it. Its a nightmare - honestly!

We booked all-inc. for the price.

My hubby and I took my sister away for a birthday surprise and as this restricted our spending, we had to take one room for all three of us. (not a problem as we get on well) So, the room was fairly small for 3 adults but if you stay tidy and don't live in your room, no problems.

The staff were great, there when you needed them but not in your face. Room and towels done daily. Bar area got mucky but only because people seemed unable to find either an ashtray or a bin... The area was cleaned when there was room which wasn't often as the Brit disease of getting up and drinking from nine just because it's all-inc.had taken hold.

Noise was heavy due to wooden flooring on the landing, but if you buy ear plugs, it's no problem he he.

Value for money can't be beat, but with that you get what you pay for...

We have just returned from our holiday and must say its the worst we have ever had.

When we arrived we looked at the hotel and thought that it needed a bit of attention, and also noticed the amount of rubbish laying around, yet there are plenty of bins about (this must be down to the holidaymakers not using them).

We had to ask for a room change as we where allocated rooms on the ground floor which gave us no privacy, which they did the next day. Then our friends water supply turn brown and stopped for a complete day.

The Hotel is very noisy at night doors banging and shouting.

We where very surprised to see so many children at this time of the year, and some not very well behaved,
we saw one young boy at the bar on 2 nights must have been only 13 with a blue arm band on getting alcoholic drinks.
We must say that most of the staff work very hard.

The only thing we found with the entertainment staff was that the sound system could not handle the girls voices, it sounded as if they where shouting which made them inaudible.
And as for the hotel cat and kittens not very nice if you have cat phobia which 2 of our party had.

Eva the hotel manager works very hard and deserves a better hotel which she will probably get.

I found the hotel itself ok, we were quite lucky with our room as for just me and my sister we had a double bed each!!! On arrival we were told that the bar was only open for another 15 mins (we arrived at 11.45pm) but they didn't have any wrist bands to give us so we would have to pay for the drinks!

The hotel felt very over crowded. This hotel is for families only to be honest as my sister and I felt very out of place as no body really spoke to us as we had no children. We found the solarium which was adults only to sunbathe but the children continuously came up there - that in its self didn't bother me but you would get 15 children squeezed in to an 8 seater hot tub and would splash everyone and swear very loudly.

When my sister approached reception with the problem of all the children in the adult only section we were basically told to go away. The conversation actually started like this - 'excuse me, I have a bit of a complaint' receptionist- 'what a surprise' I mean come on how rude and unprofessional is that - it was actually the first time we had spoken to reception about anything other than checking in!

The bar staff would probably have cracked their faces had they smiled - I appreciate it was busy but come on!!

The entertainment was complete rubbish - and there is only so much bingo you can take part in!

I would totally not recommend this hotel for couples or people that have ever been on holiday! for a first time holiday you wouldn't know any better!!!!
