We went to hotel Miramar in July and it was great!

The Hotel was very clean and the rooms were cleaned every day and they changed the towles everyday! The food in miramar is OK its not the best but I found somthing too eat every night and the drink is great:).

The location of the hotel is right on the beach which is brilliant as the beaches in Tunisia are very nice. The hotel Miramar is right opposite a night club/shop the safari which I went too every night after the disco finished in the hotel.

The people there are very friendly!

The hotel staff are great and very friendly people and try too do there best too make you happy.

The animation team were the best thing about the holiday they wer sooo funny. We no bebo and bobo very well and can't wait too see them soon! They were great!

I would defiently go to this hotel again as I had no problem with it.

Hotel cleanliness and staff were the best thing of the hotel. Cleaners, barmen, receptionists and so on very helpful and friendly.
The hotel location is very good, in between two big cities, Monastir and Sousse. The hotel has also got beautiful gardens all around, very useful for a walk after melas, in fact the food was varied and very tasty.
There is something to do for everyone, beach, swimming pool, sauna, massages, tennis, mini golf and a nightclub.

Of course I would go back, we had a great holiday.

Looking for a quiet week in the sun before Christmas.... that was what we got.... Hotel very nice when we wandered into town it was only a short taxi ride away from the hotel gates.

Staff Friendly, room kept clean. Spa very poor, all gloss and no substance. Indoor pool excellent. Charge for Sunbeds not expected, but you did pay only once each day - 3TD. Pier with pontoon bar in the Med a nice touch. Drink and food prices the same throughout the hotel.

Overall a nice break with great weather

I travelled to Tunisia on 21st august 2005, I was travelling with my boyfriend and as Im only 17 I was nervous about going to another country without my parents for the first time.

My parents travelled 2 weeks before me and said you get a few people trying to help you for a few dinar and this was making me more scared. When we arrived we were greeted at the hotel and as it was l8 we were shown to our rooms, the day we arrived it was raining and so I wasnt in much of a good mood all I was going away for was a tan so at first I was a bit down. The next day the sun was cracking the flags and I was able to see the complex in daylight. It was a lovely place right on the beach really nice people.

We hired a safe while we were there to hold passports and english money but we found that leaving my handbag with dinars in around the pool was safe while we went on the beach. The only problem I found with the hotel was the pool, it is a sea water pool and it stung my eyes so I didnt enjoy that. However, the little jetty on the beach made up for that with the lovely cocktails.

I had a lovely time and didnt want to go home, I would definitely go back in the future. It was well worth the money.

On arrival at this hotel and being shown to our bungalow I must admit we were not impressed. We hated the place although the gardens were lovely, and the hotel looked decent enough, the room we were given was dreadful.

The bedside lights came on as soon as the bedclothes touched the lead, no shower head, patio doors did not close oh the list was endless but after going to reception and asking if we could change rooms the staff were so helpful giving us 2 room keys and asked us to view each one and pick the best one which we did. - Lovely sea view and very large room much better this was the start of a great holiday.

The entertainment was limited but very enjoyable plenty going on the animation team were great. Look out for Hosome little cute guy that looks like Lemar when cornrows are in his hair - The guys work so hard and are great with the kids.

The Jetty bar really adds to the hotel you can happily dance the night away and actually feel you are not at the hotel which helps prevent 'cabin fever'

Across the road you have the Safari bar which stays open till 4.00am and is fully air conditioned and it great.

The staff in the hotel are all fantastic really friendly and would highly recommend this hotel - The food is repetitive but very nice large selection for dinner and you will never go hungry.

Wish I was still there !

Weather beautiful!

Hotel lovely - walk out of the hotel to the pool and then straight onto the beach - great.

Everyone should be able to find something they like at meals times. Most people looked like they had found plenty.

Staff very friendly - rooms very clean.

Entertainment good considering the ages and nationality range covered.

Very relaxing week.

The Miramar is without doubt the best hotel in Skanes. It is immaculately presented (if a little tired).

Bear in mind that Tunisia is a relatively poor country compared to the developed world, and one cannot take Western things (i.e. adequate plumbing etc) for granted.

The hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are outstanding.

There are several restaurants to choose from, serving a la carte food, and we found the choice for our main evening meals very poor, so opted to pay a la carte - the meat brochettes are recommended.

Breakfast was the same every day, and includes eggs, croissants, pains au chocolats, brioches, and cerals - more than sufficient,

The evening meals appeared to rotate, but as mentioned above, we only had the 'included' meal twice during our stay - we would have rather gone without.

The weather was only good for three of our six days, and the three days it rained/was cloudy, were very bad as the hotels facilities are geared to outdoor activities, i.e. sunbathing, outdoor pool etc. Not the hotels fault though!

Our room was cleaned daily, no complaints there - be aware the room walls are thin, and you can hear the ill disciplined kids in the room next door at midnight fighting!

The beach was raked and cleaned every day. It was excellent. You will come across locals trying to sell things on the beach, but the well built security man/beach watchman soon sees them off!

Entertainment wise, there are plenty of things to do really, but they get somewhat repetetive after a while. The staff (animacion team) who do the entertainments and kids club work incredibly hard from 0900-0100 every day except Sunday, all with good humour and in 4 languages! The only compliant would be the evening entertainment is on a bit late for the kids (21.30hrs)

The Thalassotherapy centre is good - we had Turkish baths and seaweed wraps - dirt cheap at 15TD.

The shop is expensive, and you should expect that, but expensive is relative in Tunisia! 2.5TD for a bar of choc etc, but hey, you're on holiday!

I would without doubt recommend a camel trip organised by Charlie - it's a brilliant 3 hours, and the kids adored it!!!!

Taxis are readily available by the hotel entrance, and we went to Sousse twice, and to Port el Kantaoui, and it was great to see Tunisian reality!

We found the haggling and nagging and cajoling to go into shops very very unusual and irritating, but be prepared for it - most of the shops in el Kantaoui will try and con you into paying over the odds for something, so watch out!!!!!!

Bargains to be found are counterfeit designer handbags and counterfeit footie shirts.

The Thomas Cook rep was never anywhere to be seen, and she was unamusing and had poor (and very bigoted and patronising) knowledge of the country.

All in all, a good holiday - very disappointing due to the weather, but the hotel is well recommended - just bear in mind this is a north African developing country - IT'S NOT SPAIN! - you must take this on board and be prepared to accept that it is a totally different culture and any complaints you may have should be justified accordingly. The people are fantastic, and it's a real eye opener when you get out and about!

PS The indoor pool is also excellent, especially when it's raining!!!

A nice relaxing break in a lovely hotel with friendly staff sums up our holiday in this hotel in Skanes.

We found the hotel to be very clean and well looked after by all the staff who were very friendly.

The room we were in was nice and serviced every day, no complaints at all.

We found the food was fine with plenty of choice and variety and I always managed to fill my plate so again no complaints!!

On a couple of occasions when were at the hotel at lunchtime, we visited the Bedrock cafe across the street from the hotel and lunch there was good and again cheap. There is also a small shop there where you can get water, juice and various items at a reasonable price. There is a sign on the hotel wall warning you not to bring in food but we never had any hassle at all.

When making a phone call also go to the Bedrock cafe where there are "taxi phones" which are public call phones and cheap. I made a call home via the reception in the hotel and it cost me about

Just back from a weeks relaxing break at the Mirimar. Had a great time!

Hotel was very clean and the maid service was great towels and linen changed every day (and my pyjamas were always arranged in a fan shape on my bed).

The food was not bad catered for all types and was different every day. Breakfast was a bit strange with peas being served one morning, but there was always something to eat.

Not a lot to do out with the hotel in Skanes apart from Bedrock cafe across the road in the Safari centre. But the Thallaso centre, indoor pool and Boardwalk bar made up for it!

The entertainment was different but it must be hard to cater for such vast nationalities there were lots of French, Italian, Spanish and Russian guests when we visited.

Ventured to Sousse and Port el Kantoui on the noddy train but wouldn't recommend either on a hot day the drains stink and made me physically sick!

Kate the Thomas Cook rep was great too very helpful as where all the hotel staff!

All in all a good relaxing break! Tip don't go down the indoor pools water slide if your over 5 foot, think it's meant to be for kids oops!

Hotel Miramar Thalasso- Skanes

This is not a four star by any stretch of the imagination. The rooms in the Garden blocks were "tired" but clean. A kettle is not provided nor are tea or coffee in the rooms. Many people went to Souse and bought their own. Shampoo is provided on the day you get there only. This hotel is out to squeeze every penny it can from their clients. Fresh towels every day but you need your own towels for the sun lounges around the pool or on the beach.

Sun loungers are paid for each day with an extra charge for foam cushions. The few deck chairs there are, are free but falling to bits.

Outside the rooms it is noisy at night with clients checking in and out. The noise is from the wheels on the luggage as all the tiles in the gardens have large gaps in between them. There is no safe in the room but a safety deposit box facility is at reception - yes you guessed it - chargeable.

Reception staff are friendly but change your money at the bank to be sure of the right exchange rate. The bank is next to reception.

Staff in general are polite and friendly and it helps if you speak French.
Guests are very mixed, English, French, German, Russian, And Swiss.

Food looks reasonable on the first day but is very much the same every other day. Peas for breakfast, amongst other things was interesting.

Outside the hotel is a large sign in several languages saying that it is forbidden to bring any drinks, food or snacks into the hotel.

Cigarettes are available off the beach vendors at
