I've just booked an hotel in Tunisia with Travel Republic, as I've done several times before, but notice that they now act as agents for YouTravel.com. whereas in the past they have usually been tied in with Med Hotels. I'll keep my fingers crossed that things go as smoothly as they have previously, but will e-mail the hotel before I go to be on the safe side.

We booked through Travel Republic at the Zentral Center PDLA Tenerife for the week before Christmas, when we arrived You Travel had left information inviting us to a welcome meeting, the last thing I want when booking DIY. However we have booked for Madeira and You Travel are the providers, there was no problems with them at all. As Travel republic are ABTA registered you at least have some safeguard. We have used them
for both Benidorm and Mallorca. with never a problem, however they did muddle my internet booking with some one elses and sent me a cancellation note it involved their staff entering wrong numbers and was very quickly put right.

Just back from Benidorm booked through TR/You Travel. No problems at all and I would certainly use them again.

Thanks people for setting my mind at rest. I've used Travel Republic in Tunisia many times but had never heard of You Travel which is why I was just a tad concerned.

Has anyone used Travel Republic for transfers (Majorca in particular)?

We've booked our hotel accomodation with them already, done flights ourselves but wondered about their shuttle transfer service as it's coming up about £60 cheaper than Janerbus quote.

If anyone has used their shuttle service what does it entail? Has anyone had any probs either outbound or return journey with transfers? Travelling with hubby and 3 kids so can't go with anything unreliable.

Travel Republic could be sold off. Investment bank close brothers have been asked to look at a possible sale with a £100 million price tag. They have certainly grown fast with sales rising from £2.3 million in 2003 to £108 million today with future sale rising to £200 million.

I was thinking of using Travel Republic for transfers in Tunisia this month but found Med Hotels were considerably cheaper out there, though I don't know how they compare in other countries. In the past I've always got a taxi from the airport but thought I'd try a transfer this time. The booking was extremely simple and I got a confirmation voucher within a couple of minutes. A few days later I realised I'd given them the wrong flight time so phoned the UK number on the bottom of the voucher, got straight through and received an amended voucher within 15 minutes. I realise this is rather :offtop in a Travel Republic thread but felt it was relevant to the subject.

To get back on topic, I've used TR many times for hotels and if they are sold off I only hope prices don't promptly go up, which is what usually happens in these circumstances.

We have used Travel Republic for transfers many times in Turkey. Never had a problem - in fact they were excellent.!
I hope if they are sold off the company that buys/takes them over is as good as Travel Republic. Denny

Who owns them at the moment? Are they independant or are they similar to hotelopia who are owned by First Choice (or whoever owns FC now) ? :think
