Calle Mato, Matagorda, 35509 Tias (Lanzarote), Spain
With its bright and refreshing atmosphere and excellent range of facilities for children, this is a very popular choice for families. It is well situated directly on the beach and promenade and just a short walk from the centre of Matagorda.

Our room was on the airport side of the hotel so the view of the planes landing was quite superb - the noise of the planes was OK by the pool but deafening on our balcony. I am not complaining as i almost became a paid up plane spotter. This hotel is only a few hundred metres from the end of the runway, needless to say the transfer time was only 2 minutes.

If we go back we will get a taxi from the airport to avoid the usual waiting on the coach half an hour before it moves. 8 Euros each way.

The food was fine in the restaurant - had breakfast most mornings and evening meal a few times (prefer to eat out).

The hotel is very big and it takes a few days to get your bearings.

Guests were mainly Spanish (which was nice)

We would definitely go back.

I have stayed in the Hotel Beatriz several times and would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience good food and clean lavish surroundings in a friendly relaxed atmosphere..

The staff and entertainment staff where brillant both during the day and night. With lots of things to do or watch. Very friendly and spoke good English.

There was no need to leave the hotel complex... several restaurants, bars and a gym and health spa.

Lots of sound from the birds singing in the morning from the birds in the trees which are in the hotel. Although its close to airport no sleep was lost and the planes landing was something to watch while lying around the pool..

The hotel was quite busy when we visited as it was over Easter.

The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned daily and always smelt very fresh when you returned to them.

The choice and quality of the food was very good, with something to suit every taste.

The location is also very good, right on the beach at the top end of Matagorda, and within a short distance of shops, bars and cash point machine. Cars are available to hire in the hotel lobby.

We found the staff to be helpful and friendly.

The pool area was kept very clean, the pool bar served tasty snacks and there are plenty of sunbeds.

A very unusual open air design means that when you come out of your room, you can see the sky. It was lovely with plants and birds sharing the open plan design. One of our party is a wheelchair user, and access around the hotel is good. Plenty of lifts - never had to wait to get in one.

The adapted bathroom we had had a bar to help get in and out of the bath and two drop down bars around the toilet. No wheel in showers or hoists though.

We had a smashing holiday, with good food, good weather and a nice hotel. What more do you want?

This was the third time that I have visited this hotel. It has been three years since my last visit but having read a few recent reviews, I was slightly worried that the hotel may have gone downhill. I needn't have worried in the slightest!! The hotel was better than before.

The rooms were spotless as ever, we were upgraded to Junior Suites at the corner of the hotel which has a wonderful view of the resort and the ocean.

The food at breakfast and dinner is very good. The choice is better than before with a salad buffet, hot food buffet, carvery station and also a station that cooks chicken/steak/fish all fresh while you wait. The choice is different every night for seven nights and then they start over. Breakfast again has a choice of different items, hot food, cereal, fruits, lots of bread and pastries, fresh eggs and pancakes etc. Everything one could want to fill up on ready for the day.

The sunbeds are very plentiful and the pool attendant will provide towels so no need to take your own.

The room is cleaned every day and the towels are replaced every day if you leave them on the floor. There is a sign on the mirror in the bathroom stating that if you want your towels changed to do this otherwise they will leave them for one day. This is similar to many hotels now who try to conserve water.

Activities at the hotel are very good. You can really get involved in the day and evening activities if you wish but if not then they completely leave you alone and do not harass you to take part which was perfect for us.

The evening entertainment was fun. Our rooms were above the Bar Mindanao but we never really noticed the noise unless we focused on it but otherwise it was fine.

We hired a car for the week that we were there and there are plenty of car parking spaces at the hotel. This hotel is fantastic, some people can find fault with everything but if you go and remember that this hotel is not little Britain then you will have a brilliant time.

We shall definitely be returning in the future.

The Hotel is absolutrly not 4 stars worth. The hotel was not very clean, specially bathroom, the buffet was terrible. The Hotel location is really wonderful, almost on the beach and near the little shopping centres. Staff in the reception are nor specially kind. Entertainment was awful, specially if your room is placed near the disco and you have to stand the music until 12 pm!

My wife and I and our 2 children (aged 7 and 10) stayed at the Beatriz Playa in Lanzarote between 11 and 25 August 2004 and had an excellent holiday.

Our rooms were clean and tidy and reasonably spacious, the only drawback being that if you use the rooms mini bar you must use the drinks provided by the hotel, if you put your own in they will be removed. This said the prices are reasonable.

The hotel itself is large and spacious and well laid out with some very nice public areas which are well decorated with plants and water features and with some lovely cool, shaded areas to sit in.

The restaurant was good and you have the choice of two sittings - between 7.00pm to 8.30pm or 8.45pm to 10.00pm. With 2 young children we found the early sitting ideal, also there is a choice of a smoking or non smoking area. The food was well presented in buffet style with reasonable choices for starters, main meal and sweets for the evening meal.

The two swimming pools although not heated were quite warm although we were enjoying good warm sunny weather, but more importantly they were cleaned out daily and from a hygiene point of view there are no complaints here. One small point to note here is that the pool attendant does not allow the use of inflatable beds, animals, body boards etc in the pools. There are loads of sun loungers available so no need to rush down in the morning and fling your towels on one to reserve it.

The daily activities are reasonable (archery, pistol and rifle shooting, table tennis, pool, darts aerobics etc) and the activities reps speak good English and are good fun especially, Alessandro who loves his game of water polo at 5.00pm each day.

The big bonus for us was the kids mini club run by Marje and Bianca who were excellent. There are activities between 10.30am and 12.00pm and 12.30 pmish and 4.00ish which gives the adults a bit of free time to themselves during the day. I would say if your kids are between 4 and 10, then I am sure they will enjoy the club.

The night time entertainment in the Mindanao bar is reasonable with a selection of acts ranging from magicians to acrobats, tribute bands and a resident singing trio. There is also a mini disco for the 'mini clubbers' between 8.30 and 9.30pm.

All in all a sound 4 star hotel with very little to crib out. We had a very enjoyable holiday which compares very favourably with any of the hotels and apartments we have stayed in during our previous 6 visits to Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

If you are looking for 'little England' however this is not the place for you. I would say it is about 65% Spanish and then an equal mix of Italian, English, and also some German and Irish tourists.

And finally don't be put off by any comments about being close to the airport and aircraft noise, it really is not a problem unless you have bionic hearing or you are a sad individual who has nothing better to do all day but look and listen for aircrafts to complain about.

This hotel was fantastic - afte reading some reviews I was a bit worried about the location of the hotel in terms of aircraft noise. This is not an issue at all - you can't hear the planes from inside the hotel and the majority of flights are on a Thursday. It is actually quite interesting watching them and you would be surprised at the amount of people out walking at night who sit and watch the planes coming in.

The food was very good in the hotel - plenty of choice and every night there is something different. There were theme nights twice a week as well. I came back 1/2 a stone heavier with the amount of food I ate.

There is activities on each day and entertainment in the hotel every night as well - The Bee Gees Tribute were fab!

The rooms were big and airy and were cleaned every day with towels being changed daily also.

We were very lucky in terms of our room view - but you could be unlucy as well and be at the back of the hotel. I e-mailed the hotel 2 days before we went and requested a pool view - which we got.

I would definately return to this hotel - I would say it was on a par with the likes of Hilton Hotels. There are 4 Beatriz Hotels in the Mediteranean so far and they all look as nice as each other.

The room was large, not enough wardrobe, storage space. I saw a silverfish in the room, and shower did not work no bath mats.

We went to dinner only to be seated outside, the dining area is open to the elements. The food was awful & the restaurant was packed with puschairs.

The nightly entertainment was fine, if you like a dozen children on the dance floor at midnight doing the birdie song,(don
