It's on Avenida Doctor Severo Ochoa, just passed the indoor market and next to Hotel Flamingo Oasis and Hotel Levante Club. It's probably a 10 minute brisk walk down to the cable-ski area of the Levante Beach.

Lots of reviews HERE.

Hi luv2tan,
We stayed there last year, it is an absolutely fantastic hotel, as David said about a 10 minute walk to the beach. I would definately stay there again.

Hi have been to this Hotel also and it is beautiful, lots of palm trees around pool area(which is fab) It is over the road from the Lidl if you know where that is.
There are some lovely restaurants near by.Although the hotel food is very good.

I thought that supermarket was called plus not Lidl?

It's like Lidl though, no frills and cheap.

It's a good 15 minute walk to the beach but there is a taxi rank outside the Flamingo Oasis next door if you don't want to walk.

Its now called Plus you are right, but there are signs near it saying Lidl. Maybe it used to be called lidl? not sure but thats the one anyway.

The beach is a 15 min walk just come out of hotel turn right and straight to bottom of the road and you can`t miss it.

Honestly you will love this Hotel.

I am after some advice please.

Friends of ours are stopping in the Melia Hotel on the 22nd July for a week. We want to also book this hotel and was wondering if anyone can suggest any good sites with discounts at the moment.

The details are as follows:

2 adults
Melia Hotel (or a really good alternative, near by)
Flying from Birmingham, East Mids, Doncaster, Bradford, Manchester as a last resort.
Bed and Breakfast is fine.
Leaving on the 22nd July and returning on the 27th July.

It is my 40th birthday on the 24th July and we are going there to celebrate with friends and this is why I would like a nice hotel.

Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Sue,

We stayed at the Melia in August a few years ago and it really is a lovely 4* hotel, large, clean, modern, with a large lagoon style pool and gardens/sun terraces, indoor pool and spa. It is on the road leading up to the Benidorm Palace, about 10 mins stroll to the Levante beach, prom and bar area.

Try Travel Repuplic or EasyJetHolidays sites. Both offer the Melia and inclusive flights (mostly Ejet or other no-frills), you only need to arrange transfers. Both sites other many other Beni hotels, you can sort by price.

We have booked a 5 day winter break via Travel Republic going on 31/01/08, EJet flights from NCL and staying full board at the 4* Princesa for £134 pp.

Hope you get sorted soon.

Whilst browsing the hotel reviews on another holiday forum I came across more than a few negative reviews concerning thefts from room safes at the Melia. No room door was forced and no safe was forcibly opened. Passports and other valuables were not taken only cash. The last review on this site for the Melia tells a similar story. Considerable amounts of money have been taken and by all accounts the management attitude was somewhat lacking in concern. Most of these reviews are recent but go back to October at least.

yes your right. I even emailed the hotel to get a response as i had booked for summer and they didnt deem to reply. I have now cancelled and booked next door at the levante. I never saw so many people complain about such thefts from one hotel.

the hotel melia in benidorm is the best hotel in resort. Fantastic rooms decent food. Far enough away o get a good nights sleep.but close enough to the night life.

Book your flight and arrange the accommodation your self through one of the hotel specialists - transfers with resort hoppa £18

Numpty41, short of posting this in block capitals I would refer you to the last review on here for this hotel. They speak of many thefts from the room safes. I would also refer you to the reviews for the hotel on Tripadvisor. I presume that these safes are the electronic type, and if so , they can be opened either by a master code, a hand held device or a key depending on make of safe. The facility to override your chosen code would normally be only avalable to staff management or security. The fact that rooms were not forcibly opened also points the finger. The fabric of the hotel may be pleasing but try telling that to those who have lost their spending money and perhaps had to come home early because of it. How do you think they would open your safe if you had fogotten your code or lost your key. I initially looked at the reviews for the Melia for a friend, who has booked elsewhere. Your visit may indeed have given you a lasting good impression, but there no doubt is a major security problem with this hotel and most people I know never read sites like this and therefor never post comments or reviews. Are we only seeing the tip of the iceberg. These are not isolated incidents or a one off occurance, but cover some months and no doubt a very considerable amount of money.

also if the hotel and chain refuse to comment on the matter it further rings alarm bells!

It means absolutely nothing.
As a business they will not get embroiled in a statement that can/may be used later in a court case.
They will not respond to accusations on a one to one basis.
They will do everything they can to avoid bad publicity regarding their business.
Lack of response does not prove anything and if it's internal, then they would hope to solve the problem internally.

How very strange that I've been on a dozen Spanish sites in the last hour, reading comments (comentarios) in Spanish about the Hotel Melia, some of them dated at the same time as the ones referred to on the other site, and the usual complaints about the standards of food and cleaning, etc can be read, along with recommendations.
But, not one word about thefts.(robos)

So, you can either decide that those reviews on the Spanish sites are vetted before being published on the web, or we have a very chosey thief operating in this hotel, who only targets the British for their money .

I remember a similar thing with the Flamingo Oasis. Someone had posted that their had been about 25 safes broken in to in a space of a couple of days.

My friend was staying their at the same time and she didn't hear anynthing about it, surely if it had been on that scale, it would have been the talk of the hotel.
