Hi,
Thanks Louise, that is an interesting site.
I had hoped for specific info on the dive centres in Cayo Coco, we are staying at the Melia Cayo Coco, they have a dive school there called the Blue divers (i think) but have read some not so good reports about them. Believe that the Melia Guillimero (spelling?) have a good dive school but have no idea of the distance between the two hotels or how easy it would be to book else where. Has anyone ever tried these two or any others?
Thanks
Katie.

Hi Katie.
I went to the cayos last year and wanted to do diving but was unsuccesful. You wont be able to PADI dive unless you go to guantanamo as the cubans don't like America and as padi is an american organization you will be limited on where you can do diving.(Guantanamo bay is classed as usa soil)
You can dive with BSAC (Google their website!) on the mainland but not the cayos and from my diving magazine i got an address for "Scuba en Cuba"but i can't remember if it's .com or .org etc but it starts http://www.scubaencuba.
I did go snorkelling and i can reccomend it as the water is so shallow you wouldn't miss diving. The sea is 5 shades of green and is absolutely breathtaking,It's just like looking through a sheet of stained glass.Emerald green.
If you do have any success can you post the address of the diving school on your return as i'd love to try diving in cuba but i'm quite sure it'll end up being on a liveaboard.
Good luck and have a fantastic time. :fish :fish :fish

Hi,
Thanks sunshine queen. That is quite worrying as we mainly want to go to dive. We chose the cayos as the holiday brouchure described them as a scuba divers paradise, they didnt say anything about not being able to dive there. Im sure our hotel also offers a free trial dive in the pool for each guest so why do that if you cant really dive there?
Has anyone been diving in Cuba :?:
Katie.
