Record Christmas for budget carrier
A record 900,000 British travellers are to fly with EasyJet over the Christmas period.
The airline expects a six per cent increase in carryings over last year.
The top ten destinations are Geneva, Belfast, Edinburgh, Malaga, Barcelona, Alicante, Paris, Glasgow, Amsterdam and Faro.
Also popular are winter sun destinations such as Egypt and the Canary Islands.
UK general manager Paul Simmons said: "The idea of a staycation is clearly passé.
"Getting away from the doom and gloom of the recession has proven to be a bigger incentive then ever before and it's clear that people want to spend quality time with their family and friends."

Not sure how to proceed, advice please.
yes further e mails are to follow showing a link to BMI where you can then proceed with the transfer by entering your Easy Jet booking ref.
Why they can't be more specific is beyond me.
just received several e mails from BMI confirming my transferred flights from EJ. This was slightly worrying as i hav'nt made any yet. Apparantly EJ have made them for me ??? albeit on different days, so i have had to ring BMI and change them, so please be aware if this happens to you.
Hi David. That list was very informative. i'd like to subscribe to be informed by e-mail of any further cancellations but can only see the link for being informed on twitter. Any idea how I go about getting an e-mail update please?
At the very bottom of the screen, after the list of cancelled flights, there is a link to be advised by email.

Having subscribed to be kept informed of flight delays, I've received long lists of flights that have been cancelled. I would just like to inform Easyjet customers that a lot of todays flights have already been cancelled. Way over a hundred flights have been cancelled since this spell of bad weather started. Anybody looking to travel with Easyjet over the next few days would be well advised to check on the link that David has so kindly provided above.
I have booked flights to Sharm and at 6ft 2 5 and a half hours of 28" leg room isn't attractice! If I book speedy boarding what are the chances of getting the extra leg room seat? Or is it a sprint onto the plane to be able to do this? Any help would be appreciated thanks!
It is always a sprint to get the seats you want when they are not preallocated but having Speedy Boarding will give you the very best chance of getting those emergency exit seats that have longer legroom.
I'm not sure how many Easyjet allocate for speedy boarding on a flight but Ryanair allow up to 50% of a flight to have priiority boarding. I believe Easyjet have a much smaller number - I think it used to be around 20ish - but times may have changed.
Even with Speedy Boarding you have to play the game and make sure you are at the front of the queue, or even start the queue - someone has to so why not you !
We always have Speedy / Priority boarding for flights longer than 2 hours, never had a problem getting the seats we wanted, but you have to play the game !
If you are boarding the plane using the front / rear steps ie not an airbridge and at the front of the queue board by the front steps and get your seats. If you are a few back in the queue board by the rear steps and hopefully get the seats you want as others will be blocking the aisle from the front - they always do !

Chris,
Just as a final note on the eJ boarding groups. They are now saying on their website that groups are 1 (SB & SB+), then SA & finally 2 (which is anyone else) with no mention of online check in's at all. The online check in help notes also now mention nothing about group A, though presumably as they've already got people online booked group A in the last 60 days they'll have to honour that.
I've not checked their site for a few weeks, but I notice they are now actually stating that the old Boarding Group A (on-line & early check in) ceases to exist from 11th Jan 2010 i.e. as I thought above allowing for punters booked in 60 days before they changed the system on 12th Nov 2009. So now it's simply SB/SB+, next SA & then everyone else.
Pete
Ryanair in the early days of online checkin gave those passengers checking in online priority boarding 'free'. Those days have long gone - if you want a chance to be in the group that are first on you have to pay !
I would also agree that you do get more leg room on Easyjet than some other airlines. EJ are not my favourite airline as I hate the boarding scrum - but sometimes needs must!!
Pippa
one tech hitch occasionally would be acceptable but 2 in two flights would make me think that maintenance was an issue
