Want to pick a few brains please.
Last year we flew into Athens and picked up a car, I had pre-booked and paid what I thought was a deposit. When we got to Athens I found that the money paid was a booking fee and I had the full car hire cost to pay. This year we are flying into Athens and hiring a car again. My question is has anyone arrived at Athens and booked a car when they have arrived, or does anyone know where we can book a car and pay a deposit as opposed to a booking fee.

I have used Economy car rentals before and they were very efficient. We paid a deposit by credit card via their website and the balance on delivery of the car.

As far as I can gather they take the bookings and distribute the business to local car hire firms. They email you with the details of the company a few days before you travel. Their prices were very reasonable too!!

Didn't want to be like last year thinking I had paid £20 deposit only to find we had the full rental to pay when we picked the car up at Athens cos the £20 was a booking fee. I know £20 isn't a lot but it would have paid for a few beers!
