Hi
We're off to Puerto Pollensa, staying at Club del Sol apartments in just over 2 weeks time. Does anybody know if it's possible to buy what my kids would call "normal" milk there? They just won't consider spanish milk!!
Thanks
Juliet

Tell the kids that Spanish cows produce milk but it is green in colour !!!!!!!!!!!
The milk in Spain is no different to the milk over here, available in skimmed, semi skimmed and full fat. It does tend to 'turn' quicker but that's mainly due to the heat.

                Lol!!
Thanks, I'll try to convince them. Most particularly the 17yr old who's just been to Ibiza and said she thought the milk was disgusting!

That's because they tend to use "Long Life" milk, the fresh milk tastes no different to ours. The long life (UHT) milk is sold in the same cartons as here, the fresh milk is in the same cartons as ours also. Hope this helps, Linda.

                Thanks Linda
That must be it!! BUT if it's all in the same type of carton, what should I look out for?

Hiya, lilac labrador, the long life milk is in the same carton as you would buy it here, sort of oblong and it will be on the shelves not the fridge. The fresh milk is in a taller, more square carton, the type where you pull the top back and then pull it forward to make a spout. That's the only way I can describe them lol. The fresh milk will always be in the fridge. If I remember rightly, the colours are the same as here, red for skimmed, green for semi-skimmed, and blue for full fat, but in this case it will be the writing that is coloured, as the cartons don't have lids on, not like the plastic bottles over here.
I always buy semi-skimmed, and it says on the carton semi-destinada.
You know the cartons of pure orange juice that have a really long date on them, the ones where you cut a corner off the top to pour it out? Well long life is in the same shape cartons. That's the one you don't want lol. Crickey I hope I haven't confused you here. Post back if I have lol. Linda x

                hi lilac,
I'll be looking for english milk with you, I'm sorry but I don't agree that spanish milk is the same cos my kids wouldn't touch it.
Last year In Ibiza I bought Cravendale(think thats what it was called) it was available in all the supermarkets albeit twice the price of spanish milk but well worth it.
see you there

9 days to go!!
