While in tunisia , I managed to burn my legs after using "suntan oil with citron" (local produced stuff)
A waiter at our hotel brought me a fresh tomato cut in half and told me to rub this on my legs, as it would relieve the pain! believe me it worked!
Also if you get bit with mozzies, put lemon on the bite

i was in greece one year and burnt myself head to toe!!!!! ended up with sunstroke. anyway there was a nurse on holiday there. she told me to cover the sunburn with natural greek yogurt. i thought this sounded a bit barmy but was in pain so decided id give it a go. i put it on overnight and the next day (after showering it off) all the redness had turned brown and my backside was back on the sunlounger. i swear by the stuff now!!!!!!

I too was recommended natural youghurt for sunburn in Majorca.......unfortunately the pain of trying to remove it once it had baked on due to the heat from the sunburn stopped me trying it again

I was also told to fill a bath with lukewarm water and pour tea into it....minus the milk & sugar obviously You can either make the tea up and then pour it in or put teabags in the water, then remove and soak in the bath...it did relieve the heat and the pain for me.

Whilst we were in Sri Lanka my friend burnt her shoulder quite badly, the barman brought her a complete Aloe Vera leaf, broke it open and put the neat juice on, he brought her one every day for 3 days and the burn had healed up.....amazing

can you bring them back from abroad

You can buy Aloe Vera plants in most garden centres and some supermarkets. Ask around your friends and I bet one of them will have one. They are so easy to keep and have lots of "babies" so are often passed on to friends. Many years ago in Australia whilst living there got badly sunburnt Told about the tomatoes but oh dear the pips stuck. Next thing was local anaesthetic gel worse. Put on the gel then the robe and then it stuck to the skin. Screaming when I was trying to get it off.
You bet I never got sunburned to that extent again. Had gone to the beach in the morning it was a lovely day September so spring and just like a good summer day here. The strength of that sun was what I didn't bargain for.
Yoghurt is very soothing but it does set also. My remedy stay out of the sun at the height of the day!

I know exactly what you mean by the tomato pips drying in, the solution there was to bathe in a tepid bath which removes them, I think the same applies with greek yoghurt

Cucumbers are also very good for relieving sunburn.
Just slice the cucmber and place the slices on the effected area(s).
It really does work.

Just like me, i go red as a lobster if i even look at the sun, burn severely, blister, then peel which isnt a nice experience....
However, we went to Ibiza in 2006 and was told about Riemann P20 lotion before we went which is a once a day lotion, admittedly only factor 20 buts its still good. I used it in ibiza (i used factor 40 on my head, shoulders, feet & ankles as an occasional top up during the day) and came back white as a sheet still having spent most of the day wearing only shorts and messing about in the pool. I also spent a week in Rhodes with the same stuff last year and it was over 40 degrees every day....didnt get burnt once

Give it a try, its excellent stuff.
