Hi,
How do the 2 resorts compare in terms of town size, number of resturants, bars, shops etc.. ? Any othere differences between the two resorts ?
We went to Alvor last year and enjoyed it but I would probably prefer Lagos (we have been four times) but with a 2 year old in tow we are looking for a more family frendly resort which is why we are looking at Carvoeiro.
The town beach in Carvoeiro seems quite small, but the major concern we have is the limited quantity of sun loungers for hire. We are going to be there for the first two weeks in June. Is is difficult to get sun loungers for hire on the town beach ?
Any information appreciated.

We've only popped into Carvoeiro so I'm no expert on the resort but it did look quite steep in places to us. We stayed long enough for some lunch near the beach and there was definite 'drain whiff' but that may just have been a one off.
There are some resort reports for Carvoeiro here:- http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/reviews/portugal/algarve/carvoiero/

Carvoeiro beach is in the town but is very small. Alvor beach is about 15 minutes walk from the the village but is vast asyou know.
Here's a link to a picture I took from high above the beach in May 2008

Early In June, well I think Carvoeiro (like the Algarve as a whole) will be far from packed out and busy. But, as Glynis says, Carvoeiro and its beach are at the bottom of a fairly steeply sided valley, so there is s good chance your accommodation would be up on top on one side or the other. That would keep you fit, pushing said two year old around!

I think the pitch at Carvoeiro would have a slope to put that at Yeovil's old ground to shame.
