Just back from 4 nights in Benidorm minus the kids & I must say Benidorm was Buzzing, the clubs & bars were well packed the smoking ban seemingly having no impact at all which is great because we were able to breath fresh air & I recycled my shirts having took only hand luggage.
Must say though what a miserable lot some of the British bar owners are!
e.g. We went into Colliers in the old town to find the owner sat outside with laughing & joking with company & had to drag herself away to serve us, she didn't even crack a smile, no wonder the place was empty! Contrast that to the bars run by the Spanish who always made us welcome!
Funny you should say that, we were in there last week she seemed more interested in messing on the computer than making us welcome.
Of course the bar was empty.
By the way a bar has opened next door to John and Josephs called (wait for it) John and Josephs aparrently it's not ilegal what they have done just immoral.

The second John & Joseph's has been open for a few years and it's quite an interesting story. The original John & Joseph's (the one with the blue sign) was leased by John (or Joseph) to the three guys who run it now. A few years ago he decided he wanted to buy their lease out but they refused.
As he still was entitled to use the name he opened up next door, presumably as a spoiler for their trade.

Glad to hear Benidorm is still lively,we left on september 10th and every day leading up to that date seemed to get busier and busier.
I've never been in John & Joseph's, never quite been able to understand why so many people sit there crammed in on them old plastic chairs stuffing their faces at 11pm with a fork in one hand and a fag in the other!
