How about Finikounda, in the Peloponnese? Definately not commercialised, lovely beaches, tavernas and plenty of places to visit nearby. See my report and a link to some photographs about half way down the following page:

Hi there from a fellow Mancunian. Hubby and I went in july to Paros to celebrate (is that the right word!!!) my 50th. Can recommond, or perhaps Naxos. Both lovely islands but both only reachable by ferry from Mykonos

Paros and Naxos are reachable from just about anywhere, indeed both together represent a veritable hub of ferry connections, mainly in the Cyclades. Also from these aiports Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Iraklion, Samos.
Easily from these islands - Syros, Andros, Tinos, Ikaria, Fourni, Ikaria, Amorgos, Schinoussa, Donossa, Iraklia, Koufonissi, Ios, Sikinos, Folegandros, Milos, Kimilos, Sifnos, Serifos, Anafi, Therasia, Astypalaea, 1 or 2 of the Dodecanese maybe Patmos or Kos or where ever.

Thassos Town was nice in Sept 04, stayed at the Galaxy with Thomsons.

We stayed in Agia Efimia on Kefalonai last September and we really enjoyed it. There's lots to see and do on the island. We often just packed a lunch and took off in the car.
