Am off to Candolim on Nov 18th but originally wanted to stay at Cavelossim. Can anyone tell me how easy is it to travel down to Cavelossim for a visit. It sounded so nice ~ it would be a shame to go all that way and not try it out for next time (I'm already assuming that I will love it and want to go back!!)
Its around 45/60 mins by taxi one idea would be to explore Old Goa, Ponda etc on a morning and then head down to Cavelossim for the afternoon. Or head to Margao which is a terrific (if slightly mad, in a good way) market town and is half way between, then head down to Cavelossim for a relaxing afternoon Benaulim is also a great village/beach to explore down south
Thank you tightjock. That sounds easy enough. So many places to visit and only two weeks holiday!! I think I need a good lottery ticket and a year or two out!!
Maz we stayed in Candolim last year and went down South several days we kept the taxi driver with us (not literally he waited with his cab) as Tightjock states it takes 45 - 60 mins and last year cost us around £10 Benaulim is a lovely beach so is Uttorda. Whilst staying in Candolim why not also try far North which are a little closer (we did this several times last year too approx £10) -- Kiri beach, Arambol (sweet water lake) Mandrem (huts on stilts and rickety rope bridge to beach!) Aswem and Morjim (Olive Ridly turtles nest here and are now protected) every beach is different but every beach is wonderful.
Enjoy Lyn x
Thank you Goanluv. Oooh ~ so much to choose from. We definitely need longer, so I better start working harder! I wonder why the turtles are called Olive Ridly?
