Nicorette is no long term aid. You are still addicted to nicotine. Stop the gum and you still desire a ciggie. Will power is the best method, coupled with a real desire to quit. If you really need a fall back in case of temptation, get one of those plastic ciggies.I could never bring myself to using it for feeling looking stupid.
As for motivation, what you save on ciggies in a year would pay for an extra Goan holiday every year.

Last year we tryed everywhere to finf some without any luck, so my wife at to suffer. Take it with you to be safe.

That would be the best idea, havent seen the gum but the patches are more expensive.
