We spent our honeymoon in Vilamoura in 2003. Stayed in the Tivoli Marinotel (which is 5*). We absolutely loved it, and had a fantastic holiday. Vilamoura is a lovely (though purpose built) resort, built around a very large marina, which has lots of restaurants and bars around it. The beach is really lovely - stretching for miles. Vilamoura is a relaxed resort, but has enough life to stop you getting bored. You can easily visit Albufeira for a change of scenery, and there are plenty of day trips to be done too. I don't know if it's they type of honeymoon you are looking for, but it certainly suited us. I

f you want to stay somewhere quiet, but in a high class hotel, you could look at the Sheraton, which is in between Vilamoura & Albufeira. We've not stayed there ourselves, but have heard great reports on it.
