Hi,
We've just booked to go to Hotel Andronica in Proteras on 21st June, self catering for two weeks.
We are 34, 32, 6 and 3. We understand there is a 20 minute walk to the "strip" but are really unsure what to expect. We do like a drink and music etc.. tho obviously with the kids in tow we need to be moderate ! We like to find pub with good atmosphere entertainment for kids early on then probly be out till 12 or 1 with them as in previous years.
Last couple of times away we've done Cala Dor and enjoyed it with the kids. We also did Rhodes town but without the kids.
Any advice on best supermarkets, pubs, how much can I expect to pay for a beer ? Where will everyone be watching the world cup ?
I suspect we will be doing our own breakfast and lunches but prob end up in Pizza Hut most nights knowing our kids its about all we can guarantee they'll eat.
Any advice gratefully recieved on hotel, resort, prices just anything, really looking forward to going....
Hope you enjoy Cyprus - I'm sure you will. You'll find prices aren't that different from here really, but remember that for each pound you spend in Cyprus its really around £1.25 in english money.
If you don't mind local draught beer (and the keo is perfectly good) you may find some places doing "pound a pint" deals. You can get english beers & ciders on draught and they usually cost "city centre" prices if you know what I mean.
Food wise, again shop around for prices. Avoid the main tourist areas and you'll find excellent meals for around a fiver.
best thing to do is to explore the place when you get there - you won't get lost - and if you do the locals will be only too happy to help - and shop around for the best deals.

Forgot to say - don't worry about the football - you won't be able to avoid the world cup! Everywhere will be showing it on large screens.

Ive been to protaras 7 years running its superb,if you catch the bus to paralimini only a 5 minute ride and get off by the church it is the local supermarket prices are a fraction of the tourist shops,best time to go is about 5pm local time as it closes in the afternoon.Rockafellas is in my opinion the best bar on the main strip,drinks are roughly the same price as at home.Cyprus is not cheap,so be well prepared.Protaras has become commercialised from when i first went,there are plrnty of bars and fun pubs.The water park is a must.I could rave about it forever but if you need any more advice do not hesitate to contact me about anything restaraunts E.t.c
